My front heat is not working but rear heat blowing. Had blower motor replaced 4 years ago… do u think it couldBe that again

My 2008 Buick Enclave front heater switch just stopped suddenly ; no warning noises nothing. The blower fan was replace about 3 years ago already.. back blowers and heat are still functioning… wondering if you think it's the blower motor fan again or possibly something else .

Thank you

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
It is entirely possible that the blower motor has failed. When the blower motor was last replaced, was the blower motor resistor replaced as well ? The resistor is also a big possibility. The blower motor resistor is used to change the voltage to the blower motor to vary the fan speed. If it was not in place to reduce or increase voltage, the fan would run at one speed only – high. The resistor can show signs of failure in a number of ways. It can fail all together so the fan will not work at all. It can also fail on certain speeds. For example, if your blower speed switch has 4 positions, it may work on 1 and 4, and not work on speeds 2 and 3. Other possible faults can be the relay for the front blower as well as the blower switch in the climate controls. A certified technician can look into why the front blower motor is not working and find the exact cause for you.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced mechanics :

The most common reasons a Buick Enclave heater isn`t working are a broken heater blower motor, a problem with the thermostat, or a failed heater blower motor resistor. Search our network of RepairPal Certified shops near you to speak with a technician about your issue. Oops! We got lost!
The most common and easy fix is that your thermostat is not set on “auto” or “heat,” but on “cool” instead. Just check to see if you need to switch the settings on the thermostat to get the necessary heat you desire. If the thermostat is older or a cheap model, or both, then it might just be broken and need replacing.
Problems include dirty filters, broken wires, poor voltage supply and faulty limit switch or capacitor. You can test your limit switch with a multimeter, and clean the blower motor`s wire coils. If this doesn`t work, you may need to replace your furnace blower motor.
If the heating system isn`t working at all (no hot or cold air is being blown into the car), this is likely due to a faulty blower motor or an issue stopping power from reaching the blower motor, but that`s not the only possible reason. In general, car heater issues can be caused by the following: Low antifreeze.
A faulty or broken thermostat is the most common cause of your car`s failing heat. Stuck open or stuck closed, the part can not only cause issues with your heat but also with your engine`s cooling system.
One of the first symptoms of a problem with the blower motor relay is a blower motor that does not function. As the relay is the switch that supplies current to the blower motor, if it fails internally, then power may be cut off from the blower motor circuit causing the motor to no longer function.
The blower motor controls the airflow for the heating and cooling system; it is one of the main components for the HVAC system to operate properly.
Locate the reset button on the furnace and press it to reset the furnace. It is usually located inside the blower compartment on the side of the blower motor. Be cautious as the housing may be hot. If the button is popped up, press it down.
The fan may have broken or the ducts may have become blocked. If you`ve turned the heating on but there`s no air coming through open ducts, then there`s a good chance that the problem lies with the radiator fan. Check the air grills around the outside of your car, specifically around the air intake vent.
Here are some of the most common causes of why air doesn`t flow out of your vehicle`s vents: Your air intake is clogged, meaning that air isn`t getting in from the outside at all or isn`t circulating properly. There is a blown fuse in the ventilation system. Electrical issues such as a bad relay.
One of the most common issues with a heating system not functioning is dirty air filters. If your air filters are extremely dirty, then the airflow can be blocked. Check for clean air filters, vents, and registers. Make sure there are no rugs or furniture blocking vents or registers as well.

My car ac a year ago stopped working on settings 123 only works on 4 I did the research so I do know it is the blower motor an ha
ANSWER : In your application, there is a replaceable blower motor resistor block. The resistor block permits multi-speed operation of the fan. If some fan speed settings work, but not others, the first thing to do is test the resistor block with a volt ohmmeter. If you desire testing, and replacement, as needed, please request a blower motor/resistor block diagnostic and the responding certified mechanic will get this taken care of for you.

With regard to the A/C system, if gauge pressures (high and low) are normal when the system does operate, there are really only two principle possibilities for intermittent operation. One is circulating moisture in the system (due to a saturated dryer) which periodically freezes (and thaws) at the expansion valve and the other is a failure in the A/C control system, that is the clutch, sensors, and other electronics that control the compressor cycling. The cause of the problem can be readily found if you request an A/C system diagnostic. I just replaced the front passenger window regulator and motor and it works but only when i am using the rear passenger switch
ANSWER : Your Audi uses a window control module to operate the windows. The switches send a command to the module, and the module sends the power to the window motors. I’ve seen the modules do some screwy things, especially when the battery voltage gets low, but I wouldn’t run out and buy a module just yet. It may be possible to communicate with it with the right software and there might be some re-set that can be done. If you contact Your Mechanic, they can send a technician to your home or office to check out your spooky windows and tell you whether you need a new module or something else.

Front heat won’t work, but rear heat does ..how to fix
ANSWER : In order to verify that the blower motor is bad you will need to disconnect the bower connection to see if harness is getting power and ground in all speeds? You can put a test light between blower connector and operate blower switch in each setting speed to see if light stays lit in each position. If it does then check blower connection then replace blower motor and connector harness if it is burnt.

If I get my blower motor replaced, do I also have to have my Ac recharged after replacing blower motor?
ANSWER : The blower motor on this vehicle is a simple removal and installation and does not require anything to be touched on the A/C. The refrigerant does not have to be removed. The only component that has to be removed is the glove box under cover to get to the blower motor.

A/C and heat are not working properly. Car blows heat in summer and cool air in winter.
ANSWER : Common causes of no cabin heat include malfunctioning blend door(s) (part of the in-dash ventilation network), a faulty or stuck heater control valve, a plugged heater core, stuck open engine cooling thermostat, collapsed hoses, and low coolant level. The cost to resolve the problem depends on which of the foregoing faults is the cause. If you desire a diagnostic to determine exactly why there is no cabin heat, please request a non functioning cabin heater diagnostic and the responding mechanic will come right to your location and get this resolved for you promptly.

With regard to your air conditioning system, if merely re-charging the system restored normal operation but the a/c ceased to function after a month or so, that scenario typically suggests a leak. Some leaks are really cheap to repair, like if a couple o-rings need to be replaced in system piping but if the leak is at the compressor shaft seal, that repair is more costly. It is not expensive to find the leak and diagnose the system and once the leak is found the mechanic can let you know of the exact cost to repair the leak and re-charge the system. If you desire that service please request an a/c system diagnostic – suspected refrigerant leak and the responding certified mechanic will get this taken care of for you. Heater / A/C are not working properly. They are weak and the highest and lowest settings do not work at all. Any ideas what it could be?
ANSWER : Hi there. Check the power from the switch on each setting and to the blower. See what the voltage is at each setting. If the voltage is low or not showing, then the switch is not working and needs replaced. The switch has a resister built in it to make the blower have different voltage outputs which makes the blower have multiple speeds. However, the first setting and the last setting could have a burned element inside making only the second and third setting work. Once you have the blower working properly, if there is no heat, then check the heater control valve in the engine compartment for if the vacuum line has came off or if the valve is not working. When the engine is at operating temperature, check the temperature of the coolant hoses to the valve and after the valve. If the hoses are the same temperature and the valve is shut, then the valve is on or not working. If the temperatures are different, then the valve is off or not working. If you need further assistance with your heater and a/c not working, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

My heat doesn’t work in the rear of my vehicle.
ANSWER : The first thing to do is to check the two heater lines under rear of truck to see if both lines are hot when engine is warmed up. If they are both hot to the touch then you most likely have a bad temperature control actuator on the rear blower case. Replace actuator and recheck for temperature control.
