I just replaced the front passenger window regulator and motor and it works but only when i am using the rear passenger switch

I recently replaced the front passenger window regulator and motor on my audi s4 b6. The window works but only when I am using the rear passenger switch which moves both the rear and front window. Both the driver control and the passenger control for the front passenger window switch do not work. The switch worked before I replaced the motor and regulator. I checked to see if I crossed the cables but there is only one way to reconnect the electric connectors to the motor so they should be correct. is there anything that would cause this?
My car has an automatic transmission.
Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
Your Audi uses a window control module to operate the windows. The switches send a command to the module, and the module sends the power to the window motors. I’ve seen the modules do some screwy things, especially when the battery voltage gets low, but I wouldn’t run out and buy a module just yet. It may be possible to communicate with it with the right software and there might be some re-set that can be done. If you contact Your Mechanic, they can send a technician to your home or office to check out your spooky windows and tell you whether you need a new module or something else.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

If you are only replacing the power window motor and not the regulator itself, you will need to disconnect it and connect it to your new power window motor. Visually inspect the two to make sure the new motor matches the old one, then swap the regulator.
If the window glass is going up crooked, sags into the door when it`s not being used, or it has fallen, it`s a window regulator issue. If it`s an issue of movement, then the window motor is the usual suspect.
There are a multitude of reasons why your car window might not roll up, including: The fuses are blown, preventing the electrical controls handling the window from working. The child safety lock is engaged by accident. The window switch is functioning correctly, but the window motor has malfunctioned.
Check the fuse

Other cars have individual fuses for each window motor so failure will only affect the one window. In some cars the fuse is in the main fusebox but many makers use in-line fuses so check with your manual to find where the fuse is and replace it if blown.

Hold the key down for 2-5 seconds after the window is down.

Once your window is all the way down, hold the button down for 2-5 seconds. Release the button after you`ve held it down for a short period of time. On some vehicles, the required time to reset the window is 2 seconds. On others, it is 5 seconds.

Check the Window Switch and Window Motor

If the fuses and wires are in good condition and the parts are getting power, the problem might be with the window switch. Usually if the problem is with one window it might be the window motor. If the problem is with more than one window, it`s likely the window switch.

Grip the window between your palms and slide it up.

Pressing the glass firmly between your palms, slowly move your hands up to raise the window. If there`s not much of the window sticking up, try to pull it up a little with your fingers so you can get your palms on it.

Another way to restart Windows PC is through the Ctrl + Alt + Delete menu. It`s likely your best option if the Start menu is not working. Start by pressing the Ctrl + Alt + Delete on your keyboard to open the options screen. Then, click the Power icon in the bottom right corner, and select Restart from the list.
If you can log in, press Windows + R and type cmd. Then press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to launch Command Prompt as administrator cmd. Type systemreset -factoryreset on the Command Prompt and press Enter. You`ll get a choice to keep your files or remove everything.
The brush DC Motor is particularly a favorite in automotive industry because of its simplicity and affordability. Many automotive manufactures use them for power windows, seats etc.
You might be able to put your power window up manually by pressing your palms together on both sides of the window and slowly moving it up. If your power window motor is still somewhat operational, it might help to have someone press the window switch to the “close” position while you`re doing this.
The most common reasons an Audi A4 Quattro window won`t go up or down are window`s electrical system such as a fuse or relay, a broken window motor, or a broken window regulator. Search our network of RepairPal Certified shops near you to speak with a technician about your issue.

I just replaced the front passenger window regulator and motor and it works but only when i am using the rear passenger switch

My RPassenger window did not work. I had it fixed. shortly after neither of my rear windows will work from the or the front and
ANSWER : Hi there. Usually when both window switches do not work it is due to an electrical fault with the primary control module. There is a center module that relays all electricity from switches to individual window drive motors to open and close. When more than one switch doesn’t appear to be working, it typically due to an issue with that center window control module or electrical relay powering the system. It would be a good idea to have a professional mechanic come to your location and complete a window not working inspection to determine precisely what is causing this issue before attempting any further repairs.

Used a quick fix for my broken power window: hold switch up and slam door. What might need replacing if it worked for me?
ANSWER : Hi there. In most cases, the quick fix that you learned online will lead you to knowing what component was damaged. In this case, if you press a window switch and slam the door, it will shake or rattle the connections to the switch and "magically" roll the window up. As such, the problem is most likely either the individual motor on that window or the switch relay to that window. It’s probably a better idea to have one of our mobile mechanics come to your location and complete a window does not work inspection, so they can inspect your car and determine exactly what needs to be repaired.

After replacing the window regulator, and using the same motor, the window doesn’t go all the way down.
ANSWER : Hey there. There is a safety limit switch that is built into the motor. You may have to check the window track or inside the door for something blocking the window regulator from going all the way down. You may also have to try to push down on the window when lowering it since the motor will kick out when using the auto-down feature. You may need to replace the motor also. If you are still having problems with the vehicle, I recommend having a qualified expert inspect the windows for you in order to have this corrected.

Having a problem with the passenger side window switch; the window will go down but not back up
ANSWER : Hi there, this issue generally comes up often when we see a power window that does not work on the passenger switch, but still works with the driver’s master switch. It means that the passenger side window switch has failed. The fact that the drivers switch operates the window properly lets you know that the window components all function properly as that the problem is probably electrical.

A technician that is diagnosing this would use the wiring diagram to find the proper wires to test and check for power when the window is rolled up to see if there is power present when the window is commanded to roll down with the switch. Given that you are still under warranty, this scenario should be something the dealership would resolve free of charge as part of the warranty. If the vehicle is only under powertrain warranty and not the full warranty, the technicians at YourMechanic are able to provide diagnosis for your window and can perform a power window switch replacement for you if necessary.

Driver’s side windows do not properly function
ANSWER : If removing the driver door window switch (or the driver-side console switch), and applying direct power to the harness yields successful operation of the window, the problem is the switch that was removed for the test. This can be confirmed utilizing a voltmeter/multimeter, and following the "power path" from the fuse, to the switch, to the output side of the switch (harness plug side of the switch), etc. A YourMechanic technician can assist with the diagnosis of your window issue and help you fix it accordingly.

Just replaced head gasket, changed crack sensor new plugs. The check engine light is on, but dim, the only other light that the dash is a normal battery indicator. The fuel pump is not running when switch is turned on, the power windows don’t work, it turns over but not firing. It’s like only one part of the system is working. Also the heater fans work even if the switch is off.
ANSWER : I would first look at the diagnostic trouble codes. Those codes are available because the check engine light is on. If the fuel pump is not running (momentarily) at key on, that fault alone will prevent the car from starting as there will be no fuel pressure. Pump output and pressure can be directly tested and you can also check for electrical power to the pump. To find out why the engine will not run, the recommended diagnostic is a no start diagnostic. I have a 2003 lincoln navigator. The drivers fornt door power window does not work. I replaced the regulator, main switch and motor
ANSWER : If the other 3 windows function using their individual door switches but there is no function, for any of the windows using the main driver door switch console, that could be due to the wiring in the driver door having gotten broken at the "flex point" where the wiring exits the door, travels through a short rubber bellows, and enters the vehicle frame. That is a common wire break point. So, check for power TO the driver door switch and make sure the circuit has a good ground, too. If there is no power to the driver door switch, in all likelihood the wire is broken. If you do find there is power to the driver door switch and yet you still cannot get the driver door window to function, please request a power window electrical component diagnostic and the responding certified mechanic will get this resolved promptly.
