How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced mechanics :

The most common reasons a Mercury Grand Marquis heater isn`t working are a broken heater blower motor, a problem with the thermostat, or a failed heater blower motor resistor.
The most common reasons a Mercury Grand Marquis is overheating are a coolant leak (water pump, radiator, hose etc.), the radiator fan, or a failed thermostat.
Fuel injector nozzles can become clogged over time, which can lead to a sputtering engine, slow acceleration and the car not having enough power. Fuel injectors can be cleaned if the problem is caught early, but as the conditions worsens, the injectors may have to be replaced.
One of the most common issues with a heating system not functioning is dirty air filters. If your air filters are extremely dirty, then the airflow can be blocked. Check for clean air filters, vents, and registers. Make sure there are no rugs or furniture blocking vents or registers as well.
A sputtering engine may just mean you need to have your fuel filter replaced. All vehicles have a series of vacuum hoses that create the fuel pressure. If one of them leaks or is damaged in any way, you will lose significant fuel pressure. The vehicle`s exhaust system can greatly impact the engine`s performance.
A sputtering engine is a sign of a lean fuel mixture in the combustion chamber. This can happen if you have a clogged somewhere in the fuel system that impedes the delivery of fuel into the chamber. For example, your fuel filter or fuel lines might be clogged.
Heat pumps often make a humming noise when in defrost mode, and this is normal. However, if your unit starts buzzing loudly, but doesn`t cycle on, you need to have it assessed for electrical problems such as a failed capacitor, stuck relay switch, or faulty motor.
Your Filter`s Dirty

Over time, debris, dust, and allergens build up on these filters, which eventually causes them to clog. So if your furnace is blowing cold air, you`ll want to check your air filter. Once you`ve taken it out, hold it up to the light. If you can`t see any light shining through, you need to change it.

If your blower only works on the highest setting, your blower motor control module probably needs to be changed. If the fan isn`t working, you probably need to have the blower motor fixed or changed. If the air coming through isn`t hot, the heater core is probably clogged.

When you turn the furnace on but no heat comes out, there may be an obstruction. Dirty air filters restrict airflow, which can make it feel like not much heated air is coming out of your vents. Check the furnace filter and replace it if its surface is covered with contaminants.

Faulty heater cores and low or contaminated coolant levels often come hand in hand, and both issues may lead to your engine overheating and your heater not blowing hot air.

I was driving my 92 grand Marquis on the highway and all of a sudden it stopped tried cranking back up just click changed alternat
ANSWER : Hi there. When you turn the ignition key and you hear a clicking sound, it’s due to one of three things. First, the ignition relay is damaged. Second, the starter relay is damaged. Third, the starter itself is damaged or not engaging the flywheel. The best way to diagnose this is to start by replacing these three components in order. Start with the ignition relay and test the repair. Followed by the starter relay and finally the starter. You can also rule out the engine being ’frozen’ by manually turning over the engine by removing the spark plugs first and turning the harmonic balancer. You can also contact one of our professional mobile mechanics to come to your location and complete a car is hard to start inspection.

Will a front motor mount off a 98 grand voyager fit a 92 grand voyager or what is compatible for a 92? 1992 Plymouth Grand Voyager
ANSWER : Hello – no, the motor mount from a ’98 will not fit your 1992. The Voyager changed in 1996, with an additional engine choice in ’99 – motor mounts also. Motor mounts from a 1991-1995 Voyager (for the same engine) should interchange for your ’92. I recommend a motor mount replacement service performed by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, diagnose this problem, and give you an accurate assessment of damage and cost estimate for repairs.

Intermittent cylinder misfiring on a ’98 Grand Marquis
ANSWER : What you should do, if you don’t have the equipment and you don’t understand it is to call a professional to take a look into your misfiring problem for you. Mechanics, like those from YourMechanic and myself, we’ve been doing it for a long time. We’ll put a scan tool on it and check live mode six data, and all stored codes.

You’ll get all kind of information like where misfires are coming from and how often. Those machines are so good these days that I could plug something in it, and it will tell me things like: cylinder number six has misfired 6081 times, and number two has only misfired five times, and number three hasn’t misfired at all. It stores everything. So, start there. There’s no sense guessing.
