Hello – unfortunately no. Modern electronic-key security systems differ from one manufacturer to the next, and each has specialized equipment for programming and setting options on remotes and electronic keys. This equipment is also not usually available to non-dealer service centers as well, for a variety of reasons. This is one case where you have to go to the dealer. Be prepared to provide documentation of ownership (title, current registration, etc.) – this is for your benefit, to prevent someone else from getting a key made for your vehicle.

Subaru has to program the key fobs to work for your vehicle. But if you drive an older model and you`ve purchased a replacement key fob, you should be able to program it to your vehicle yourself.
Many locksmiths can cut and program a key for about half the cost of a dealership replacement. Some dealers even utilize the services of outside locksmiths for replacement keys. An experienced locksmith will be able to make a replacement key for you even if you do not have the original.
There are two locations that are perfect for getting a replacement key. The first one is the dealership where you purchased your vehicle. However, depending on what type of key you have, the cost can be somewhat unpredictable. The other option is a locksmith.
Provided the VIN is found in the database, the immobilizer Security ID along with the key/ cutting code will appear. A charge of $2.80 will be incurred for each immobilizer request. Note: Costs are $9.95 per transaction, or $25.95 for a 24 hour subscription access (with no transaction limit).
Every Subaru vehicle has a key code that can be found on the original key ring tag and on Subarunet.
The answer is no. Using the OBD port is not necessary in some cases, but fobs and transponders can never be programmed without the car in the vicinity. This is because they always have to access the OBD using the port or in some other way so there is no way to get them remotely program.
If your car is equipped with onboard programming you will be able to program a new transponder key or a keyless entry remote by yourself. If you own a newer vehicle, most likely it would not be equipped with onboard programming, and it will require a professional key programmer.
Can a car run without the key fob? Ans. Yes, once the car is started, the engine will run without the key fob. However, once the engine shuts down, you won`t be able to restart it without the key fob.
Dealer Price $49.95 Your Price $21.39.
If you start the car normally by having the fob and pressing the start button and then get out and then get back in without the fob you can drive away.
Open and close the door, then press lock or unlock on your key fob. Remove the key from the ignition, and the chime will sound once again. Open and close the door once more, then in approximately five seconds, the key fob should be working. Test the key fob by pressing the buttons.

Lost my transponder key. if i replace my ignition.cylinder do i need to program the new transponder key? 2003 Mitsubishi Galant
ANSWER : Hello – yes, if you do not have at least 2 keys that are already "recognized" by the transceiver, you must have the new keys programmed at a Mitsubishi service center or locksmith equipped with the proper equipment. If you have 2 programmed keys which are already "recognized" by your vehicle transceiver, there is a process for adding additional "new, unprogrammed" keys, but only under those conditions.

If I replace the ignition switch, can I use my existing BMW Keys with remote and valet key?
ANSWER : Yes, you can. The ignition switch is separate from the EWS system, so replacing the switch will still allow you to use the current keys you already have. Only if you have to replace a faulty key or EWS module will you have to possibly order all new keys.

One other possibility is there is an EWS issue where the key is not being properly identified not allowing the starting sequence. This would mean ordering an EWS module or keys from the dealer. Try out all keys you have to see if any will commence in the starting sequence. If none of the keys will start the vehicle, faults should be checked to ensure there are no EWS key identification faults. If no faults are present, then most likely the ignition switch is faulty. If there are key identification faults, then it’s either a key, module, or receiver that is the issue. You may want to consult with a mechanic who has the equipment to read out the Powertrain and EWS fault memories before replacing parts.

Door lock remote stopped working.
ANSWER : The first thing to suspect with all key fobs is the battery. Since you reused the interior or the old fob, I would first make sure the battery is installed with the positive and negative sides in the correct position. If it is, I would replace the battery to be sure. If it still doesn’t work, it will be necessary to program the fob to the car. This must be done with the DRB scan stool. The only other method requires the use of two other key fobs, which means you would be adding a new key fob.

My key fob will not open my car doors or trunk. I inserted a new battery in the fob and that did not help. What cld be the proble
ANSWER : Based on your description, I believe that the first issue is the lack of programming for your new key fob. If the dealership told you that the key requires programming and that was not done, this is the reason that the new key fob is not responsive. Next, it is possible that the key hole in your door is electronic. This means that there is a sensor on your door lock that will allow you to lock or unlock all of the doors by turning the key inside the driver front door lock. If this is the case, the fact that that part has been damaged could have caused this issue. This may not have happened immediately after the key hole was damaged, but over time the issue may have gotten worse causing the key fob problem. I would recommend having your key fob programmed by the dealership to see if that will resolve the issue because that will have to be done anyway. If this does not fix the problem, I would then recommend having the key hole replaced by a qualified professional.
