would fuel system cleaning gas fuel injection cause service engine soon light to come on?

Had Oil change, Engine Flush and Fuel system cleaning gas fuel injection system done.
Then the next day while driving the car the Service Engine Soon light came on. Would any of the above services cause the light to come on?

My car has 131000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
Hi there. Sometimes certain fuel injector cleaners can aggressively remove carbon deposits from sensors and cause a service light to illuminate but it is very rare. What is more likely is that the service light came on due to the maintenance light not being cleared by the company providing these services. However, it’s always a good idea to have a professional mechanic complete a service light inspection to verify what is causing this light and clear it if there are no issues.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Yes. Clogged injectors can result in a lean mixture that triggers a trouble code and check engine light.
In some cases, the injector cleaner contains corrosive agents. These chemicals will eventually damage the fuel pump or tank lining. When this happens, you will notice leaks or reduced performance from your car.
A clean fuel system can improve the longevity of your vehicle, increase power and performance, improve fuel economy and drive ability. Many of us tend to neglect cleaning our vehicle`s fuel system, not realizing that this is actually a vital component to prolong the life of your car.
Fuel additives and injector cleaners that are labeled as “oxygen sensor safe” may be used in sensor-equipped vehicles. Use of additives not labeled as “oxygen sensor safe” can damage your oxygen sensor.
Bad Fuel Pump, Fuel Pressure Sensor Can Trigger `Check Engine` Light, P0087 Code. Your car`s “Check Engine” or “Service Engine Soon” light can flash on for more than 1,400 different reasons.
An illuminated Check Engine Light is another symptom of a potential problem with the fuel rail sensor. If the engine computer detects an issue with the fuel rail sensor signal or circuit, it will set off the Check Engine Light to notify the driver of the issue.
Although most fuel injector cleaners begin working immediately, it takes time before the improvements become noticeable. Before the cleaners start working effectively, the vehicle should travel several hundred miles and burn a good portion of a full fuel tank.
Fortunately, you`re right about clogged fuel injectors being a symptom of a misfiring engine. If used correctly, though, a fuel injector cleaner should remedy the problem and stop your engine from misfiring.
Internal components, O2 sensors, and catalytic converters can all be damaged by harsh chemicals. That`s why some automakers advise against the use of fuel additives. Cleaning any component of any engine can always open other cans o` worms and reveal deeper issues. Or cause them.
Yes! When used regularly, fuel system cleaners can help work to remove harmful deposits and keep new ones from forming. They are especially important for engines running on gasoline containing Ethanol and fuel-injected engines.
Yes. While the damage may seem small initially, the longer you drive with a bad oxygen sensor, the worse the damage will become. Eventually, you may experience rough idling, poor acceleration, engine misfires, an illuminated check engine light, and failed emission tests.
The injector cleaner works to clean and prevent the injector pinholes from burning residue. It also keeps the fuel system clean when used regularly. The immediate impact is that the car`s performance increases as the combustion process are done more optimally.
If your injectors are dirty and/or clogged, your vehicle`s engine might misfire. This will feel as if your engine is sputtering, which will make your vehicle lurch or vibrate. Your engine is misfiring and sputtering because the fuel injectors are not providing enough fuel for the air/fuel mixture.
However, if the fuel amount is too high, the effect will be diluted, resulting in a lower cleaning efficiency for the injectors. For maximum performance, wait at least 20 minutes after adding the cleaner before driving.
The fault codes usually associated with a clogged fuel injector can range from misfire codes to lean codes. Fault codes associated with a clogged fuel injector are the P0300 thru P0308 series, which indicates the engine controller is seeing an engine misfire.
However, if the fuel amount is too high, the effect will be diluted, resulting in a lower cleaning efficiency for the injectors. For maximum performance, wait at least 20 minutes after adding the cleaner before driving.

would fuel system cleaning gas fuel injection cause service engine soon light to come on?

Traction light/reduced engine power and check engine light coming on
ANSWER : Hello. From what you describe, it would appear that your vehicle may be experiencing some sort of intermittent wiring or sensor issue. If the problem occurred again after driving over a bump, then it may be possible that a damaged or loose wire is shorting or having contact issues. A common issue that can cause stalling is a faulty crank position sensor or wiring. I would carefully examine the engine for any loose or damaged wires. If the Check Engine Light comes back on, I would recommend having the trouble codes scanned before resetting the computer.

Battery light goes on when I start car then turns off, if I rev engine light comes back until rpms go down. Abs goes comes on/off
ANSWER : Batteries can die due to faults in the charging system so ideally a suspected "faulty" battery should be load tested before a decision is made to condemn it. The only exception to this rule is if the battery is already clearly "old" (greater than 5 years) but even then once you put a new battery in, as a replacement for a "dead" battery, you have to comprehensively check out the charging system. Diagnostic Trouble Code P0460 will result in disruption of the dashboard fuel gauge’s ability to accurately report your tank’s fuel levels. The fuel gauge readings may be erratic, or read somewhere off scale. Vehicles equipped with a low fuel warning light feature may also suffer from erratic low fuel warnings in the event of a code P0460. Unless the P0460 code has been reported alongside other trouble code, all of the vehicle’s essential systems should otherwise function normally. I would recommend that you request a check engine light diagnostic to first resolve the fault causing the P0460 code to set. The check gas cap light warning light could be due a faulty gas cap and/or small leaks in the EVAP system.

While driving on freeway truck goes into a limp mode, and the check engine light, abs light, parking break light, service brake
ANSWER : It is possible that you could be having an issue with your powertrain control module. This is somewhat of a common problem on many GM vehicles. I would recommend having your vehicle inspected by the dealership to determine if the powertrain control module is functioning properly. If not, a reflash of the powertrain control module may resolve the issue but often times it must be replaced.

Check Engine Light comes on after starting pickup
ANSWER : Hello there, thank you for asking about your 1992 Isuzu Pickup. A professional will have the correct equipment to read OBD1 codes. Retrieving the diagnostic trouble code(s) is the first place to start when diagnosing your vehicle. Increasing RPMs changes engine load, which can in turn affect many different sensors and components, causing the Check Engine Light to illuminate. The only way to narrow down the options and find the culprit is through in person diagnosis with an OEM compatible scan tool. A certified technician from YourMechanic can retrieve the OBD codes at your home or office.

Abs light, emergency brake light, steering wheel assist light, engine light, EPC light, traction control light
ANSWER : Hello, thank you for writing in. The vehicle does utilize a lot of the same sensors for these systems. Are there any other codes that are coming up when this code appears? If so you will want to take these into consideration when processing the repair and making a diagnosis. The module may be bad, and replacing it should fix the problem. The lights should turn off once the main computer recognizes the new module and the sensors sync up. If you believe the sensors need to be cleaned you may do so. Do as minimal as possible to make sure you are not damaging the sensor or disrupting the wiring inside. A bad connection would make the lights stay on. With so many lights that are effected by the module being illuminated, the module is likely bad or does not have a connection. Check the connection first and then resort to replacing the unit. Can an open gas cap which causes the Check Engine Light to come on cause the car to not start and the ECM to appear bad?
ANSWER : Yes, there are a lot of things a bad gas cap or open gas cap can affect. If you don’t have a gas cap then you may be experiencing issues with debris getting into your tank or fuel filter and affecting the drive performance. Since the ECM is a costly repair, you may want to have another independent technician diagnose the vehicle’s loss of power. They will be able to confirm the cause of the issue or advise you on another fix.

voltage warning light still coming on 30-45 seconds after car starts.
ANSWER : Nothing should be replaced until you have in hand a definitive diagnostic pinpointing the faulty segment of the car’s electrical system. There may be too much voltage drop in the charging circuit, as well as elsewhere, but start with the charging circuit. The faulty segment could be anywhere, so using the factory wiring diagram you just have to methodically and systematically test the entire charging circuit until the fault is found. It’s laborious but compared to replacing parts that might be perfectly good, properly diagnosing the fault will save you money and time in the end. As far as the engine warning light, at the moment I would fix the issue with the charging system first because that may resolve the check engine light. If it doesn’t, just request a check engine light diagnostic. If you want the charging circuit diagnostic steps performed by a certified Mechanic, dispatched by YourMechanic right to your location, please request a charging circuit diagnostic and the responding certified mechanic will get this taken care of for you.
