Well be driving 3+ hours one way today and 3+ the next day in 20 to 30 degree F weather. It is dry out but freezing. I have 2 new all-weather tires in front and i have no 4wd. Should i be worried?? I am stressed out about the drive but at least it will be dry out, right? I'm mostly worried about traction. There is an S on my gear shift that i never use. What is it? (Just in case i need to use it) i am a woman, lol.

I changed fuel pump and truck ran great for 3 days. Now after 3 days truck dies. It will start runs few min then dies like before
ANSWER : Check the bottom of the fuel tank for sediment. Age and mileage could have accumulated a lot of it at the bottom of the tank. If you did not, check and change the fuel filter. Rule of thumb – replace the fuel filter any time you replace a fuel pump. Also, check the wiring for any chaffing on the fuel pump when you remove it. While your problem is kind of unique, I have seen many GM truck fuel tank baffle loosen over time, occasionally rubbing against the fuel pump can intermittently short it out and/or block the fuel pump pick up. If a clutch release lever failed, it may no longer release the clutch enough to allow gear changes, though slipping would be minimal. A failing hydraulic component could also cause the clutch to fail very quickly. Based on the symptoms, I think that the pressure plate has failed, but it’s impossible to say for sure without seeing the car in person. Before attempting to reinstall it, move and secure any wires and hoses out of the way. This may open up pathways and allow you to have some more space than before. The best bet is to make sure your vehicle is raised up off the ground, and that you create space and a pathway as best as you can before trying to reinstall the new starter.
