Throttle custs out for a split second then resumes.like nothin happend

When im cruiseing at a stedy speed every once in a while the throttle cuts out for a second and then it goes back to normal its almost like. I took my foot off the trottle for a split second and then put it back on the pedal
My car has an automatic transmission.
Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
You should have the vehicle computer scanned to see if there are any codes stored that may cause this problem. If there is no codes then have the computer data monitored and recorded when the problem happens to see if the throttle position sensor or another sensor caused the issue. If you would like to have this checked, a certified professional from YourMechanic can come to your location to diagnose the intermittent cutting off of the vehicle.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Fuel injector nozzles can become clogged over time, which can lead to a sputtering engine, slow acceleration and the car not having enough power. Fuel injectors can be cleaned if the problem is caught early, but as the conditions worsens, the injectors may have to be replaced.
Fuel injectors may become dirty over time and not be able to provide as much fuel to the cylinder as is needed. Dirty fuel injectors may cause the engine to run lean which will in turn, cause hesitation when accelerating.
One of the most common causes of jerky acceleration is a dirty fuel injector. Your fuel injectors are responsible for pushing fuel into your engine`s cylinders. This means they control the timing and amount of fuel used to keep your engine running.
So, if your car starts stuttering, there`s a good chance there`s an issue with your spark plugs (or the cables attached to them). It`s not unusual for these car parts to wear out, and a faulty spark plug will cause your engine to misfire and jerk when you accelerate and for your engine to be much louder than usual.
An engine that is hesitating to accelerate is most likely dealing with a fuel/air mixture that is too lean. Engine`s that are running inefficiently will begin to show signs like hesitation which will only become worse over time.
If your car hesitates or sputters at a low RPM, you could be dealing with an issue with your engine`s air filter or there could be an issue with your fuel filter, injector, or pump. The best thing you can do is take your car to a mechanic so they can properly diagnose the issue and repair it.
The most common reason is that the engine is misfiring. When the engine misfires, it doesn`t run as smoothly as it should and can cause the car to shake. Another possible reason is that the spark plugs or ignition coils are dirty or damaged. This can also cause the engine to misfire and shake.
Fuel injectors may become dirty over time and not be able to provide as much fuel to the cylinder as is needed. Dirty fuel injectors may cause the engine to run lean which will in turn, cause hesitation when accelerating.
If the fuel amount is too much or too little, the engine may begin to sputter. Your mass airflow sensor tells you how much air is in the engine. Just like the oxygen sensor, the engine will sputter if there is too much or too little air.

Throttle custs out for a split second then resumes.like nothin happend
ANSWER : You should have the vehicle computer scanned to see if there are any codes stored that may cause this problem. If there is no codes then have the computer data monitored and recorded when the problem happens to see if the throttle position sensor or another sensor caused the issue. If you would like to have this checked, a certified professional from YourMechanic can come to your location to diagnose the intermittent cutting off of the vehicle.

I have to manually open the throttle plate to start my truck. What causes the throttle plate to stay closed?
ANSWER : This suggests you may have a bad throttle control actuator. This is a module near the intake that operates the opening and closing of the throttle plate. This works in conjunction with the throttle position sensor which monitors your gas pedal position. When the electronic throttle control actuator is not working properly, this will cause the type of problem you have where the throttle plate will not move according to the inputs from the throttle position sensor.

I would recommend having an expert, such as one from YourMechanic, come to your home to determine why your car is starting and then dying in the way you have described, and what problems there may be with the throttle.

Spraying throttle body cleaner into throttle body while engine is running
ANSWER : The engine running rough for a moment after using throttle body cleaner is a normal symptom. This should only last for a short period of time and then go away. If the issue does not go away after a few start ups or a short drive, it is possible that the throttle position sensor or mass air flow sensor could have been damaged as a result of using the throttle body cleaner. Many throttle body cleaners will specify if they are sensor safe. IF the throttle body cleaner is not sensor safe, one of the sensors may be fouled out. I would recommend having a drivability inspection performed on your vehicle to determine the exact cause if this issue persists. Consider YourMechanic, as a certified technician can come to your home or office to determine the cause of this issue.

My car misfires at light throttle and mid RPM conditions
ANSWER : Without having the specifics on the vehicle and engine type, I can only give you a general direction to take. You may have an EGR system fault. EGR – Exhaust Gas Recirculation –
is designed to prevent knock, ping, and misfire under light throttle loads to help keep the combustion chambers cool. Since the exhaust gases have already been burned, they are cooler than the combustion chamber during ignition.

This prevents pre-ignition misfiring and it does not function at full throttle. A stuck/ inoperative EGR valve can contribute to the problem. Also, if any EGR tubes or passages are clogged with carbon due to age and mileage, the EGR "loop" will not function. I recommend having a certified mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, come to your location to determine if the EGR valve needs to be replaced.

will only start full throttle and will only stay running if it’s full throttle rpms don’t go passed 1500 and keeps fouling plugs
ANSWER : If the engine is equipped with a throttle body injection system, then you should disconnect both injector harnesses and then turn the engine on to see if it looks like the injectors are putting fuel into the engine or the engine will still start and run like it did before. If it is, then your pressure regulator is leaking on the throttle body if you do not see the fuel injectors leaking fuel. The injector seal o-rings should be replaced if you see fuel coming from the injectors with them disconnected. The most common cause is the fuel pressure regulator diaphragm leaking fuel and needing replacement. If you want to have this looked at, a certified technician from YourMechanic can come to your car’s location to diagnose your car’s starting issue and let you know what repairs to proceed with.

My dad decided to push and clean my electric throttle body now my car is accelerating into second gear without me touching the gas
ANSWER : Remove the intake hosing to the throttle body and start the engine with the parking brake on and the transmission in park. Have someone throttle the engine as a snap throttle (to the floor and back very quickly but not to rev up the engine) and see if the throttle plate is moving or if it gets stuck. If the plate gets stuck, shut the engine down and clean out the throttle plate and open it with a long pry bar or screwdriver. This is so the plate can move and see if its sticking or not. If the plate is not sticking, then the throttle position sensor maybe out of adjustment and needs adjusted or replaced. If you need further assistance with your engine throttle sticking, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

I am upgrading my 2007 GT’s throttle body to a BBK 62mm throttle body.
ANSWER : Hello. The meter setting will depend on what BBK requires you to set the throttle body at. If the setting is voltage related then you need to set your meter to DC volts. That is usually what they recommend. If it is a resistance reading that they need you will set it to Ohm’s. If this is something that you would prefer to have done, consider YourMechanic, as a certified mechanic can come to your home to adjust this and insure a proper replacement of your throttle body.

I changed the throttle body on 2006 Chevy impala and it says service throttle body after resetting it.
ANSWER : Hi there. Check the resistance on the throttle position sensor on the throttle body and the throttle pedal position sensor on the gas pedal. There should be a resistance on the sensors. If one or both sensors have no resistance or have a really high resistance, then I recommend replacing that or both sensors. If you need further assistance with your throttle body service message, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.
