I am upgrading my 2007 GT’s throttle body to a BBK 62mm throttle body.

I've decided to go ahead and purchase a BBK 62MM Drive by wire throttle body. It is the one where you have to take the tps sensor and the electric motor off of the stock throttle body and bolt it on to the New BBK unit. The Electric motor voltage setting is always high and causes the angry wrench light and engine light to illuminate. To counter this, I need to get a Multimeter and test the voltage before starting the process to get a baseline reading and use a little brass screw to either adjust it up or down to get the correct voltage. What I don't understand is, what setting would I
Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
Hello. The meter setting will depend on what BBK requires you to set the throttle body at. If the setting is voltage related then you need to set your meter to DC volts. That is usually what they recommend. If it is a resistance reading that they need you will set it to Ohm’s. If this is something that you would prefer to have done, consider YourMechanic, as a certified mechanic can come to your home to adjust this and insure a proper replacement of your throttle body.

A BBK Power-Plus Throttle Body can add up to 24 horsepower to your engine.
If you expand, or increase, the size of the inner diameter portion of the throttle body, more air will be pushed into the engine. And since the engine is basically a large air pump, increasing the air intake level will increase the engine`s power output as well, in some cases by up to 15 to 25 hp.
Your 2015-2018 Mustang GT`s stock 80mm throttle body does its job fairly well, but jumping up to an 85mm or a massive 90mm throttle body can increase the volume and velocity of the air mass coming into your Mustang`s intake manifold, giving your Pony impressive horsepower and torque gains even without a custom tune.
Most aftermarket manufacturers produce throttle bodies in the 90-105mm range (some slightly larger) for use with stock and aftermarket LS intakes. Most factory intakes will not accept a throttle blade larger than a 90-92mm due to design with impregnated gasket and bore relation.
The 4.6 L`s bore and stroke are nearly square at 3.552 in × 3.543 in (90.2 mm × 90.0 mm), respectively. Deck height for the 4.6 block is 8.937 in (227.0 mm) and connecting rod length is 5.933 in (150.7 mm) center to center, giving the 4.6 L a 1.67:1 rod to stroke ratio.
With a throttle body spacer, it is possible to increase the torque by 25 ft lbs and add up to 18 more horsepower. Not all throttle body kits can be used for all engines.
There is a simple answer and a long answer to this question. Short answer is yes, but you have other mods needed to match up with that bigger throttle body. For instance if you put a 102mm TB on a stock 90mm intake you have to make sure the throttle body will open and not hit.
Shipping calculated at checkout. FAST® engineers teamed up with airflow specialists at RHS® to develop polymer intake manifolds for GM LS based engines. Testing on a near stock LS7 engine with a Big Mouth 102mm Throttle Body™ produced gains of 16+ horsepower, and 26+ rear wheel horsepower on a 500c.
Well, if it`s too big, you can lose the ability to control inlet manifold pressure well enough, and therefore engine control.
If you`re just installing a throttle body spacer by itself, then a tune is not necessary. On the other hand if you`re installing this spacer along with a new throttle body or intake or any related parts then a tune is always recommended to receive the most possible gains from your modifications.
A larger throttle body will give you a better throttle response as you will get more air each time you push your gas pedal.
A larger throttle body delivers air at a higher rate than a stock engine, allowing the driver to feel an accelerating response from the vehicle sooner. In addition to increasing acceleration performance, performance throttle bodies can also boost overall horsepower.
This throttle body will increase airflow to your engine adding more horsepower and torque to the wheels. The 70mm throttle bore size is one of the most popular sizes, as most aftermarket intake manifolds use a 70mm bore but will also work on a stock intake.
Your engine wears faster when you apply full/big throttle. It is not so bad if your engine is warmed up, and you are not driving like this all the time, this is why you have the rev range up to 6500. When your engine is fully warmed up you can use the high revs for overtaking and going uphill.
4.6L Mustang Engine Power Limits

For 4.6 engines with 2 valve heads (2 valves per cylinder), the power limit is around 400 rwhp.

While the 4.6L engine wasn`t designed for a supercar by any means, it was noticeably faster than similar engines of the past. The 4.6L went from 0 to 60 mph 1.5 seconds faster than the popular 5.0L (302 ci) V8 engine, used in comparable vehicles of the past.
Next, be aware that some spacers cause a whistling noise. It can sound similar to a small turbo. Some people like this and some don`t. Other spacers are designed to be quiet.
If you`re building an engine that is destined for the street, a carburetor spacer may not give you a lot of horsepower in a usable range. They will add a little bit of power way up top, but only if you need the extra plenum height to match up with your camshaft and cylinder head combination.
A larger throttle body delivering air at a higher rate helps you feel faster acceleration and a surge in engine power by up to 25 hp. Additionally, you can install a throttle body spacer to further enhance your fuel economy and increase torque.
Throttle bodies are designed to improve the flow and increase the amount of air/fuel mixture entering the combustion chamber. The more air/fuel you can get in and out of an engine, and the quicker you can do this, the more power that engine will make.

It depends on your fuel system. When using a returnless (Pulse Width Modulate) system, the fuel pressure will vary between 30-75psi. If you are using a regulated return system the pressure required will depend on horsepower. Most vehicles will require 45psi while engines pushing 600hp will need closer to 70psi.
Filth, carbon, and dirt can build up in the housing creating problems with air flow. Known as coking, the normally smooth service for air to travel becomes full of gunk and creates an imbalance. This interrupts that perfect mixture of air and fuel which can cause the butterfly valve to get stuck.
The 65mm throttle bore size is popular for use with the stock intake manifold, as the stock intake uses a 65mm bore.

Spraying throttle body cleaner into throttle body while engine is running
ANSWER : The engine running rough for a moment after using throttle body cleaner is a normal symptom. This should only last for a short period of time and then go away. If the issue does not go away after a few start ups or a short drive, it is possible that the throttle position sensor or mass air flow sensor could have been damaged as a result of using the throttle body cleaner. Many throttle body cleaners will specify if they are sensor safe. IF the throttle body cleaner is not sensor safe, one of the sensors may be fouled out. I would recommend having a drivability inspection performed on your vehicle to determine the exact cause if this issue persists. Consider YourMechanic, as a certified technician can come to your home or office to determine the cause of this issue.

Is it bad when oil gets into the throttle body?
ANSWER : Hello,
I believe what you are describing is a problem with your PCV valve. A bit of oil in the throttle body is not going to harm your motor and is certainly not going to cause it to blow up. At an idle, the PCV valve restricts air flow, to reduce this problem. At high manifold vacuum (idle), a spring loaded valve is drawn up and partially restricts flow to the crankcase. The PCV system is relatively simple. An inlet hose connects to a filtered air source. This is used to supply clean air that is drawn through the engine. Most of the time this air is supplied through the engine air filter. On a few designs there is a separate inlet filter that cleans the incoming air for the PCV system only. This filtered air flows through the engine, picking up fumes and vapors. The air exits through another hose, connected to manifold vacuum. The flow of air draws fumes from the crankcase and burns them harmlessly in the engine. This also creates a slight vacuum, relieving any pressure that may build. Negative pressure helps to prevent oil leaks and oil consumption by the engine. The PCV valve also helps regulate the amount of air flow, which helps prevent oil being drawn out of the engine. When the PCV valve is not working correctly, this will cause an imbalance in air flow and vacuum causing the check engine light to come on. i would suggest having a professional from YourMechanic come to your location to take a look at your Jeep.

I have a bad throttle body, so instead of paying the dealership ridiculous prices, I order a throttle body myself.
ANSWER : After you replace the throttle body then all you have to do is turn ignition on with all accessories off. After 29 seconds of not touching anything the engine computer will relearn the new throttle body. Leave it on for at least 2 minutes before turning off. Start the vehicle and see if vehicle idles good and throttle works before driving. If no Check Engine Light comes on then you are good to go.

If you run into any problems or decide to get some help with the job, consider YourMechanic, as a certified technician can help ensure the correct installment of your new throttle body.

Throttle Body needs replacing, is cardone re-manufactured ‘better’ than a ‘new’ throttle body
ANSWER : When it comes to remanufactured or brand new you are better off in most cases with the new one. The reason the company did not have the remanufactured one in stock is due to there has not been enough old cores returned to get rebuilt yet or the remanufactured part is in short supply. When it comes to getting a new or remanufactured part I have seen mixed results. The remanufactured one rebuilds an old throttle body using the base housing and installing all new parts in to it. The replacement parts will have to meet or exceed the manufacturers part performance and specifications. Just remember that if the manufacturer identified a product problem and changed the unit specification the dealer will get the new designed part before the aftermarket companies will and you may get old stock on the aftermarket where a dealer will only sell the newer part. If it was myself I would only use a factory new throttle body on this car. It may cost more but at least I would know I would get a new quality part with any last minute changes to product.

I changed the throttle body on 2006 Chevy impala and it says service throttle body after resetting it.
ANSWER : Hi there. Check the resistance on the throttle position sensor on the throttle body and the throttle pedal position sensor on the gas pedal. There should be a resistance on the sensors. If one or both sensors have no resistance or have a really high resistance, then I recommend replacing that or both sensors. If you need further assistance with your throttle body service message, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

Hey so I have a 2011 Chevy Malibu I’m replacing the throttle body because the throttle body injector stopped working. Do I have to
ANSWER : It is always recommended to replace the sealing O ring or gasket under a throttle body when removing or replacing it. If not then a vacuum leak can develop causing driveability symptoms and check engine light to come on.

Throttle body replaced under warranty has a defect, now out of warranty.
ANSWER : Hi there:

Although we’re not lawyers and not permitted to provide legal advice, to my knowledge, State of California "lemon laws" apply to new vehicle purchases as opposed to replacement services; however, you might want to contact the California Bureau of Automotive Repair for specific guidelines. What I’d advise is to not continue taking your vehicle to a dealership if they are not going to cover the components under warranty. Instead have a professional mobile mechanic complete these repairs; or sell the Suzuki and purchase something a little more reliable; as fuel system issues are common with these vehicles.
