The check engine, Trac off and Vsc light came on my car. The code that came up is P0446 (Evap System Vent Control Fault).

I drive 2001 toyota sienna with 100,000 miles on it. The light came on after three weeks of purchasing my car. I got the code by getting it scanned by a shop. The codes have not gone away, it's been 3 months now. I tried tightening the gas cap, it didn't work. I also tried putting 93 octane gas, it didn't work. After one week of trying these steps, the lights went away for 3 days in between and came back on after the 3 days. Now it has been about 2 months since the lights have remained on.

My car has 110000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
Hi there. That light is not going away until the fault has been properly diagnosed. The code may or may not be the same. The code that is stored is a guide for a qualified technician to use. It does not offer a diagnosis, only a guide to the system with the fault. The code you mentioned, PP0446, is an evaporative emissions code when the system detects a fault during self testing. This system prevents the escape/release of fuel vapor into the atmosphere as regulated by our lawmakers. I strongly suggest having a qualified technician perform an inspection to avoid replacing unnecessary parts. Check engine light flashing and traction control light coming on at the same time could be alerting you of a misfire or a malfunctioning traction control system. Malfunctioning vehicle speed sensor or wheel speed sensors could also be causing the lights to come on.
VSC System OFF and Check Engine Light is On

VSC stands for “Vehicle Stability Control.” It is likely that “Traction Control” will not work while this light is illuminated. On some vehicles, the “skidding vehicle” or “TRAC OFF” light may also be lit as well.

If the system indicates your tires may be slipping, the slip indicator flashes to indicate that Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and/or Traction Control (TRAC) are operating in order to regain traction. If the light stays on, it could indicate a malfunction in the TRAC/VSC system itself.
Answer. If both front wheels get stuck in fresh snow or mud, you may need to turn off both Traction Control (also know as TRAC) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) so you can rock the vehicle to free it. To turn TRAC off, simply push and release the VSC OFF button.
It is safe to drive your Toyota while the VSC OFF light is on, however, we recommend cautious driving, especially in poor weather.
While your car is typically safe to drive with the traction control light on, you should not drive it under certain conditions. If the traction control light, anti-lock braking system light, and red brake-warning light illuminate, your entire braking system may be affected.
As many of you probably already know, VSC stands for Vehicle Stability Control. VSC is largely connected to Traction Control (TRAC), both of which help to keep your car stabilized when driving on slippery roads or in other adverse weather or road conditions.
The VSC Off system is an electronic system designed to help you maintain control of your Toyota vehicle under adverse conditions. Disabling this feature will allow you to maneuver your vehicle without restriction if it is incapacitated.
Once you see the check engine light, it is safe to drive with the light on for 50 to 100 miles. This is because if the issue is with the sensors, then this will buy some time for it to reset, turning the check engine light off.
Toyota TRAC OFF indicator meaning

If you notice the TRAC OFF light come on your Toyota dashboard, that means you have pressed the TRAC OFF button, likely located on the left side of the steering wheel.

If the traction control light won`t turn off, there can be some reasons. One reason could be that the fuse for the traction control system has blown. Or it could be that there is a problem with the traction control sensors causing the light to stay on.
Press the gas pedal 3 times in quick succession. Then, turn your engine on all the way and let it run for a minute. The TCS and ABS lights should reset and go away if there isn`t any underlying problem with your traction control system.
It could be a faulty Speed sensor which is located on the wheel calliper area. A bad steering rack could also be a problem so it is important that your mechanic checks the VSC and ABS components when you see a VSC light on. In some cases, the light comes on because it needs reprogramming.
Visual Studio is an Integrated Development Environment, also known as an IDE. Visual Studio Code is a code editor. A developer can easily edit their code. VS is slower when it comes to performing across different platforms.
A-TRAC is essentially a more heavy-duty version of the standard traction control system and was designed with off-roading in mind. When A-TRAC is turned off, your vehicle may have a harder time adapting to off-road conditions, and you will most likely experience more wheel spin than when A-TRAC is activated.
Hi There, It is possible that the misfire (depending on how severe) may have produced enough of a jolt in the vehicle to cause the traction control system to detect a change in the stability of the vehicle.
Well, VSA stands for Vehicle Stability Assist and is Honda`s computer system that helps ensure the tires have traction to help keep you on the road. When both the check engine light and the VSA light are illuminated it means that the computer has detected there may be a fault in the system.
Anti-lock braking system (ABS) problems

or a faulty pedal sensor, then it can cause both (or either) of the traction control or Check Engine lights to come on. Unlike a loose gas cap or a fussy air filter, this one can be quite serious and is one of the reasons why you don`t want to ignore those lit warning lights.

The check engine, Trac off and Vsc light came on my car. The code that came up is P0446 (Evap System Vent Control Fault).

Car started to slow down and then the check engine light, battery, and engine oil light came on. What could cause this?
ANSWER : Hi there. It is possible that the battery cable came loose or the wires to the oil pressure sensor has came loose or failed. Check the battery cables and make sure that the terminals are tight and clean. Check the wires to the oil pressure sensor and make sure that they are connected and not broken. If everything looks good, then the oil pressure sensor may have failed. Plus, check the computer for codes and see what is stored. This will lead you to the part that could have failed. I recommend replacing the oil pressure sensor then checking to see if the lights will go out. If you need further assistance troubleshooting your vehicle, then seek out a technician, such as one from Your Mechanic, that can assist you with the warning lights that came on.

P2196 OBD-II Trouble Code. came and went in 24 hours. 4 starts.
ANSWER : If the mechanic tested the output (functioning) of the oxygen sensor, especially according to the protocol at this link and found that the sensor was non functioning at that time, what you might be experiencing is a "failing" oxygen sensor and so the latest instance of Code P2196 might be explained by that. A complexity though is Code P2196 has many causes other than a failing oxygen sensor including: a faulty fuel pressure regulator; MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor; ECT(Engine Coolant Temperature) sensor or damaged ECT wiring; leaking or stuck open fuel injector or injectors; and spark plugs and/or coil pack. Basically, if the Code (P2196) recurs, the oxygen sensor output can be re-tested but the mechanic will hopefully be aware of all these other possible causes of that Code setting. If the Code recurs, you can request a check engine light diagnostic and a certified Mechanic, dispatched by YourMechanic right to your location, will get this resolved for you. Check engine light refuses to go off after engine replaced
ANSWER : Hello there, you have a long series of issues going on with your 2013 Hyundai Sonata. If you keep getting a repeating oil light on than there is likely a fault in that system.

Since this fault has lasted after the engine was replaced it could be a oil pressure sensor, wiring harness fault, ECU fault, oil pump, oil strainer clogged, or low oil pressure.

To diagnose this issue properly you need a complete vehicle inspection to start from square one and identify the root cause of all this.

While driving on freeway truck goes into a limp mode, and the check engine light, abs light, parking break light, service brake
ANSWER : It is possible that you could be having an issue with your powertrain control module. This is somewhat of a common problem on many GM vehicles. I would recommend having your vehicle inspected by the dealership to determine if the powertrain control module is functioning properly. If not, a reflash of the powertrain control module may resolve the issue but often times it must be replaced.

Check engine light, VSC light, and TRAC OFF light is on.
ANSWER : Hi there. There’s always the possibility that something may have been damaged in a collision. On your estimate, you stated that it read "actuator removal without traction control". This is simply for estimating purposes; the adjuster that created the estimate probably either guessed or just went with the first option he/she saw. This does not mean that your vehicle does not have traction control. Your concern as stated by you is that the check engine, VSC, & TRAC OFF lights come on. The VSC & TRAC OFF lights will generally turn on any time the check engine light is on; the ECU stops communication for these systems if a code is stored. This is a safety feature of the ECU in that the logic is set that the traction control and vehicle skid control cannot properly adjust as necessary if there is a malfunction with the engine/transmission. It does not mean that you cannot drive the vehicle, only that these features are turned off until the code is cleared/repaired. A qualified technician can perform an inspection that will determine the cause of the lights and avoid replacing unnecessary parts. Your Mechanic has several available technicians that can assist you with a check engine light inspection.

just bought a 2008 kia spectra5 . drove it about 60 miles check engine light came on code is po700, po 755 but shifts fine car run
ANSWER : The p0700 code is more of a general information code, while the p0755 code is much more specific. The p0755 code refers to the 2-4 shift solenoid in the transmission. The code can set due several possible issues. Low fluid, contaminated/dirty fluid, stuck/malfunctioning solenoid, or any number of other possibilities. Since you have already changed the fluid, I would suggest clearing the codes and driving the vehicle to see if the codes reappear. It may well be that the fluid change took care of the issue and the code just needs to be cleared. If this, or other codes, return I would suggest contacting a certified mechanic, like the mobile mechanics available at YourMechanic.com.

Check Engine Light codes. 2006 Mercedes Benz E55 AMG
ANSWER : Since you are getting many different codes from different areas of the engine, you may need to have the system hooked up to a factory scanner since most of these generic codes do not cross over in my repair software. I would also check with the local dealer to see if any service campaigns are open on the vehicle since there are over 30 possible campaigns that could pertain to this vehicle and some of the problems you are having with the secondary air system. This may be the cause of some of the codes and supercharger disabling. If you’d like to have this checked elsewhere, a qualified pro from YourMechanic can come to your car’s location to go through each Check Engine Light code firsthand and have them resolved.
