Sunroof leaking

The sunroof is leaking due to clogged buildup. I think it needs to be unclogged or have some hoses replaced. Also, I'm unable to open the sunroof, and the dealership couldn't open it either. It's probably rusted and in need of new track.
Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
If the dealership cannot open the sunroof, then the entire sunroof assembly may be in need of replacement. With this vehicle no longer in production, the parts may not be available. The entire interior roof panel should be removed to see if the track is bad or just the motor is bad. The drains are in both the left and right side of the roof’s pillars and can be accessed through them to clean and reinstall the drains. I recommend having a certified mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, come and test your vehicle for you to see if they can find the issue and make a repair.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Clean the Sunroof Track

Once the rain stops, open up the sunroof and inspect the seal. Look for any obvious cracks where the water could enter. If no cracks are visible, use a wet cloth to thoroughly clean the sunroof`s track of debris that could eventually find its way into the drain.

Some of the things that can cause the leakage could be clogged drain tubes, a worn or damaged seal around the glass pane or a cracked sunroof pan assembly. At each corner of the sunroof tray, there are drain tubes that are supposed to take the water out and not let it enter the car.
Sunroofs are particularly susceptible to leakage because most are actually meant to leak by design. In order for the glass to sit flush against the roof, there is usually no exterior gasket to block water from dripping down along the outside edges of the sunroof.
Sunroofs typically start leaking when one or more of the drains get plugged up. That allows rain water to back up inside the sunroof assembly, eventually overflowing and leaking inside the vehicle. To check your drains, simply open the sunroof all the way up and check the corners of the sunroof.
Most sunroofs are equipped with rubber gaskets that run along the perimeter of the panel to keep it sealed tight. Over time, exposure to the sun and the elements can cause the gaskets to crack or break, which may be the reason for your leak.
If the glass itself needs to be replaced, the cost can range from $200 to $500 for high-quality auto glass. The clean-up of the broken glass can increase that estimate significantly.
Water Drain Tubes

These tubes are generally located at the front and rear corners of the pan assembly of the sunroof/moonroof, travel down the interior of your vehicle and typically drain onto the ground.

Sunroofs typically are manufactured using tempered glass. When it breaks, tempered glass shatters into hundreds, even thousands, of tiny pieces. These pieces, although somewhat rounded, still have the ability to cut and injure passengers, and it`s not safe to continue driving with broken glass in the vehicle.
Roof Leaks Are Dangerous! Leaks that aren`t corrected right away can cause mold. Moisture is a breeding ground for mold and mildew, which is a huge problem. Mold can create health concerns, but it could also ruin wall and flooring coverings, wood framing, and ceiling tiles.
Even if your roof is well-maintained or fairly new, heavy rainfall is still a cause for concern. The areas of your roof that are prone to pooling water can lead to a leak during heavy rain.
Ventilate Your Car

The sunroof of your car must be dried after the sunroof is left open in the rain. For your car to receive adequate sunlight, you must ensure that it receives enough sunlight. The best way to accomplish this is to lower your car`s windows and open the doors.

Rubberized wet patch is a rubber modified sealant that can be used to seal roof leak in hot or wet condition. This is just the perfect thing to use when you need to fix the roof and it`s raining out there. You can use this for asphalt shingles or even tile shingles.
Roof sealants not only cover roof leaks, but they also provide a protective layer to prevent water and sunlight penetration. These sealants come in many forms, including liquid in a paint can, liquid in a spray can, liquid in a caulk gun, and adhesive tape.
Sunroof Seals and Gasket

One of the most vital parts of a sunroof is the material used for the seals and gaskets. Most seals consist of neoprene, which deteriorates when exposed to weather. Silicone seals are considered premium and typically have 20-year lifespans.

PVC Foam tape provides an airtight seal around the sunroof opening and retains its durability and compression recovery through repeated open and closing actions. PVC serves as a high performace weatherstripping tape against indoor and outdoor elements.

Using Bar’s stop leak for timing chain cover leak
ANSWER : Stop leak products are generally an amateur, unprofessional solution to a TECHNICAL problem. Factory Service Manuals do NOT recommend or specify stop leak products BECAUSE such products are NOT considered to be an acceptable repair strategy, save for rare exceptions. The composition of your question clearly indicates that you understand that the OPTIMAL solution is to just fix the gasket(s) and you are simply seeking a stop gap (no pun intended) measure while you prepare for that repair. After having researched these products for decades and having tried a few, talked to manufacturers and so forth, I would suggest that you just let the vehicle leak until it was repaired assuming of course that oil is NOT leaking onto a hot manifold thus creating fire and health hazards. Of course, it is best to just simply prioritize the repair and one possibility insofar as the cost, as well as the diagnosis, is to get a second opinion from YourMechanic.

Fuel EVAP line that runs under car is kinked how do I know if it is leaking? Also can I drive it like that if it’s not leaking?
ANSWER : Hi Ricardo. We answered your question earlier. However, if you didn’t receive the reply, here is what we stated earlier. In most cases, an EVAP leak will create an OBD-II trouble code. The best way to detect an EVAP leak is by having a professional mobile mechanic complete a check engine light inspection, they will be able to download the code and determine the source of the leak. That’s the best advice we can offer you. Thanks.

Are these oil leak problems related?
ANSWER : If the oil filter housing is integral to the oil cooler, or the housing had to be removed to service the cooler, a professional mechanic with knowledge of the limited service life of rubber seals would have absolutely (guaranteed) replaced the filter housing gasket that you are now belatedly finding leaks. However, if the leaking gasket is in an assembly that was not touched, or is not part of the cooler, they might be on reasonable grounds to have not fooled with it. These cooler configurations vary (from Mercedes Benz model to model) so, having the advice I just gave, you can just simply ask them what configuration you have and go from there. The bottom line is, if indeed, the gasket that is presently leaking was "right in front of them" while they did the warranty work, it should have been replaced simply as a matter of course. Indeed, the weak link on modern engines has become gaskets and seals. The engine will mechanically far outlast the gasket and seals but the problem is to replace all of them (once they all leak) you have to literally take the engine out of the car and take it apart just to put all new seals in. Please let us know how we can help further on this issue.

Fluid leak red and brown under the car, and once in a great while the engine will overheat.
ANSWER : Hi and thanks for contacting Your Mechanic. The leaks will not cause any damage to the vehicle it self, however, the part that it’s leaking from will eventually begin to loose lubrication and come apart. The transmission oil leak will cause the transmission to stop shifting when the fluid becomes too low, the strut and shocks leaking will cause the ride to become more bouncy and will not keep the tires on the road while driving as the fluid is dispersing out. I recommend seeking out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you diagnose your fluid leaks.

Billing question is sent to CS for the cost of repairing a pressure sensor, transmission fluid leak from the rear output shaft seal, the left front strut leak and a right rear shock leak.

The problem with trying to diagnose an oil leak is that typically the oil tends to spray onto different components underneath the vehicle. You might want to have a professional mechanic complete an oil leak inspection to help you locate the source of the leak and recommend the right repairs.

ANSWER : Hi there. The first thing that any mechanic would do is determine where the oil leak is coming from before quoting you a maximum price estimate. In general, most oil leaks are caused by front crankshaft seals that become worn out, especially on vehicles that are nearly 20 years old.
