Slip Indicator Light Wont Turn Off

I asked part ofmy question earlier, and i need to add to it. After hitting the median yesterday, my slip indicator light came on and has remained on unsteady even after having the struts replaced as well as the strut mounts. When i press the button for the slip indicator I get an additional light on dash- its the BSW (Blind Side Warning) light on dash. And the car doesnt sound right when driving, like its in the wrong gear. The overdrive button is not pressed. Any suggestions?

This is likely a result of hitting the median. There are wheel speed sensors on each of your wheels that monitor wheel speed. This is then relayed to the ECU which engages the slip indicator light and system. When this happens this will cause the incorrect messages to be relayed to the traction control system. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your home to diagnose and repair your car.

The slip light will illuminate your car`s dashboard where there is an issue with the traction control system. The sensors are on the wheels of your car. The data is sent back to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). When the data is sent, the PCM will know if the vehicle is losing traction caused by a specific wheel.
Resetting Your Slip Indicator Light

Technically, your slip indicator light should reset itself, as should the system, once you shut off and restart the engine and/or you`re back on stable ground. In some vehicles, on the main console dashboard, a button labeled TRAC exists.

If the system indicates your tires may be slipping, the slip indicator flashes to indicate that Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and/or Traction Control (TRAC) are operating in order to regain traction. If the light stays on, it could indicate a malfunction in the TRAC/VSC system itself.
The solid illumination of the slip indicator warning light signifies a malfunction in the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system. VDC is a version of “electronic stability control” and is a very useful safety feature.
Quickly depress the gas pedal three times. Next, fully engage your engine and let it run for a minute. If there is no underlying issue with your traction control system, the TCS and ABS lights should reset and disappear.
If the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) OFF indicator light is illuminated on the dashboard, this is an indication that the stability control system is not engaged. The term Vehicle Dynamic Control is one that is used on Nissan vehicles, and shares the same function of a traction control system.
Turn Coordinators display the rate of turn and roll information, as well as quality and coordination of the turn. Turn & slip indicators only show rate of turn. Developed from the turn and bank indicator. This ball measures the relative strength of the force of gravity and the force of inertia caused by a turn.
Is it Safe to Drive with the TCS Light On? It is only safe to drive with the TCS light on if it appears when you are losing traction: it means the system is engaging. Driving without traction control can make your vehicle susceptible to spinning out and sliding around on the road.
Engaging cruise control when Slip Start or Off-Road Assist is on causes the feature to turn off and traction control to be re-enabled.
In modern vehicles, traction-control systems utilize the same wheel-speed sensors employed by the antilock braking system. These sensors measure differences in rotational speed to determine if the wheels that are receiving power have lost traction.
Press the odometer`s Trip and Reset buttons while turning the ignition key ON. After turning the key ON, release the odometer Reset and Trip buttons to check if the Diagnostic Trouble Code or DTC appears on the odometer display.
Shop Nissan Altima Engine Control Module (ECM).
In some vehicles it is located under the hood and/or is a part of the ABS control module. Other vehicles may have the traction control module located in the interior or trunk areas.
Electronic Stability Control Explained

It`s almost always located as close to the very center of the car as possible. If you were sitting in the driver`s seat, the yaw control sensor would be under your right elbow, somewhere between you and the passenger.

Like all automotive electrical systems, the dash lights have a fuse designed to go bad and disconnect the circuit when too much power is introduced to the system. This protects components on the circuit from damage. Sometimes, a fuse will go bad for no other reason other than it`s old.
The Vehicle Dynamic Control feature helps your car maintain proper traction when driving in adverse conditions. But when the vehicle is stuck in snow or mud, the VDC reduces engine output, and you may need to turn it off to get your vehicle out. In most Infiniti and Nissan vehicles, there is a VDC Off switch.
VDC: Putting the “dynamic” in vehicle dynamics

This advanced active safety system utilizes a network of sensors to monitor wheel speed, steering wheel position, yaw rate and lateral acceleration.

Nissan Altima Owners Manual / Starting and driving / Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system. The Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system uses various sensors to monitor driver inputs and vehicle motion.
VDC takes traction control a step beyond the Traction Control System. It helps the driver keep the vehicle on its steered path in certain handling situations. VDC works in conjunction with ABS, Traction Control System, and 2-Wheel or 4-Wheel Active Brake Limited Slip (if applicable).
The ball`s movement is caused by the force of gravity and the aircraft`s centripetal acceleration. When the ball is centered in the middle of the tube, the aircraft is said to be in coordinated flight. If the ball is on the inside (wing down side) of a turn, the aircraft is slipping.
Turn and slip indicators feature a turn indicator in the center, followed by an inclinometer directly below. Pilots can monitor these parts to determine the turn rate and the skip or slid of the turn.
Stability control often cuts power and brakes wheels to move the car where a driver is pointing it — with limited success sometimes, but it`s better than fighting Mother Nature all by your lonesome. Traction control only limits wheel spin; stability control can maneuver a car.
Press the gas pedal 3 times in quick succession. Then, turn your engine on all the way and let it run for a minute. The TCS and ABS lights should reset and go away if there isn`t any underlying problem with your traction control system.
A failing wheel speed sensor will turn off your vehicle`s traction control, stability control, or any other driver assist feature. Sometimes, a damaged wire could also prevent the sensor from sending data to the control module.

Okay so when I turn my lights on at night my brake lights do not work, when I don’t have my lights on they work fine.
ANSWER : Hi there. Based on your inquiry, it’s highly probable that you have a damaged light switch or some electrical fault inside the turn signal relay. However, it’s also possible that the brake switch above the brake pedal could also be the source of your problem. Due to the fact that multiple electrical components might be causing this issue, it’s a smart idea to first have a professional mobile mechanic complete a brake lights are not working inspection, so they can determine what’s causing all of these issues and recommend the right repairs.

on a 1970 Lincoln mark iii Interior lights wont turn on and warning lights are very dim and doorlock button makes buzzer go on
ANSWER : Hi there. Although the electrical systems on older vehicles tend to be much simpler in design, in many cases, issues like you’ve described can be very tricky to trace. It could possibly be something as simple as an expose wire creating an electrical short or a faulty relay that is not completing an electrical circuit. I wish we can help you further, but the best advice I can offer is to have one of our mobile mechanics come to your location and complete an electrical problems inspection.

Battery light goes on when I start car then turns off, if I rev engine light comes back until rpms go down. Abs goes comes on/off
ANSWER : Batteries can die due to faults in the charging system so ideally a suspected "faulty" battery should be load tested before a decision is made to condemn it. The only exception to this rule is if the battery is already clearly "old" (greater than 5 years) but even then once you put a new battery in, as a replacement for a "dead" battery, you have to comprehensively check out the charging system. Diagnostic Trouble Code P0460 will result in disruption of the dashboard fuel gauge’s ability to accurately report your tank’s fuel levels. The fuel gauge readings may be erratic, or read somewhere off scale. Vehicles equipped with a low fuel warning light feature may also suffer from erratic low fuel warnings in the event of a code P0460. Unless the P0460 code has been reported alongside other trouble code, all of the vehicle’s essential systems should otherwise function normally. I would recommend that you request a check engine light diagnostic to first resolve the fault causing the P0460 code to set. The check gas cap light warning light could be due a faulty gas cap and/or small leaks in the EVAP system.

No dash lights, back right tail light is out, no parking lights. Brake lights work though as does head lights.
ANSWER : Hi there. In many cases, when you have electrical problems like you’re describing, it’s caused by multiple electrical component failure. It’s likely that a few electrical relays are not working; especially if you have systems that utilize the same components (such as your brake light and tail lights). I would recommend having a professional mobile mechanic come to your location to complete an electrical problems inspection first, so they can pinpoint what is damaged and recommend the right repairs.

Dome light turns on and off by itself while vehicle is turned off.
ANSWER : Hi there. Check the courtesy light switches on the doors to the vehicle. It seems that one or more switch may have a bad ground or a bad contact in the switch causing the courtesy light to come on while the engine is off and the key is out of the ignition with the doors shut. If you need further assistance with your courtesy light, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

Just replaced head gasket, changed crack sensor new plugs. The check engine light is on, but dim, the only other light that the dash is a normal battery indicator. The fuel pump is not running when switch is turned on, the power windows don’t work, it turns over but not firing. It’s like only one part of the system is working. Also the heater fans work even if the switch is off.
ANSWER : I would first look at the diagnostic trouble codes. Those codes are available because the check engine light is on. If the fuel pump is not running (momentarily) at key on, that fault alone will prevent the car from starting as there will be no fuel pressure. Pump output and pressure can be directly tested and you can also check for electrical power to the pump. To find out why the engine will not run, the recommended diagnostic is a no start diagnostic. If you request that service, the responding certified mechanic will get this taken care of for you.
