Hi there. Although this video is for a GMC, the process of manually adjusting a broken electrical seat is the same.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced mechanics :

Shake the seat or use some extra force. When a seat is stuck, it`s often because the locking mechanism did not engage properly, so shaking it can click it back into place. Apply lubricant to the tracks. Store-bought lubricants are preferred, but something like olive oil can work in a pinch.
You can manually move a power seat using one of the following methods: The winder: Find the seat`s motor, which will likely be at the back left or back right of the seat. Turn the motor winder to the left to move the seat forward or to the right to move the seat backward.
If you press the power seat switch and the seat doesn`t move, then the switch may be faulty. The fault could be the result of a severed wire in the switch or a dead fuse. Either way, you should take your car to a certified technician to have the switch examined and repaired.
It sounds like the adjuster motor is failing, seat track is binding, or the switch has failed. Check for power and ground to the motor while using the switch; if they are available upon command, then the motor is faulty and in need of replacement.
Sometimes a car seat can become stuck if the locking pins didn`t properly engage when someone last adjusted it. Try giving your seat a firm shake or jostle to engage these pins and allow you to move the seat normally. Listen for a popping or clicking noise to confirm.
Pull the center of the horizontal switch up to raise the seat. Push it down to lower the seat. Adjust the seat-back angle by pushing the rear switch in the direction you want to move. Reclining the seat back can decrease the protection you get from your seat belt in a crash.
One of the biggest signs your power seat switch is going bad or failing is the seat does not move when you push the switch. The seat may not move forward or backwards, or in any of the directions it is meant to move. If the seat is not moving at all, check the fuses to see if they have blown.
Automobile power seats can fail or break in a variety of areas. In the Chevy Impala, there`s a piece that breaks that can be repaired, if you know what you`re doing and in the Dodge Nitro, it`s the motor that needs to be rebuilt.
If the seat functions stopped all of a sudden then you either have a blown fuse or a bad circuit breaker. Both are common issues, especially if something is failing in the seat.
Power Seat Winder Tool

This tool allows you to remove and install the power seat motor without having to remove the entire seat from the vehicle. It`s quick and easy to use, and it will save you time and money.

Don`t drench it with a hose

While it may seem tempting to yank the seat out of your car and blast it with a garden hose or power washer, please resist this temptation. Drenching a car seat with water can cause rust in the parts along the underside of the seat, reducing the seat`s effectiveness in a crash.

Car seats are hard. Caregivers and experts who have installed thousands of them agree on that. There are a lot of rules, long-winded user manuals, straps, clips and buttons. There are detachable car seats with bases, convertible seats and booster seats — it really can be overwhelming.
If the seat still won`t move forward, there could be an issue with the motor or tracks. Try lubricating the tracks with WD-40 or another lubricant. If that doesn`t work, you may need to replace the motor (which can be done yourself if you`re handy).
