Car radio will not pick up radio stations.
ANSWER : There are multiple issues that could cause a radio to not pick up an AM / FM signal. In most cases it’s due to faulty wiring, a loose ground wire or the wiring running to and from the antenna. However, it’s also possible that an internal component inside the radio such as an electrical relay has been damaged. It might be best to purchase a new tuner; as diagnosing and fixing this issue would most likely be more expensive than the cost of buying and installing a new one.

went from starting quick to running like crap and sound like crap also has a small back fire noise like say B with ur lips silnt
ANSWER : Hello there. If the fuel tank is contaminated with debris, it should be either replaced or completely cleaned out. However, the problem with older fuel cells is they are metal, and likely have a lot of rust in the fuel cell; which will contaminate the fuel and lead to the "running like crap" issues. It is also possible that you have an exhaust leak which can create the same type of sound and backfiring problems.

Radio stays on after key is removed and car exited
ANSWER : Hello. If this is the factory radio then you more than likely have an issue with the retained accessory power system. This is what allows the system to retain power when the key is off until the door is open. It may be a relay failure or a failure in the module that controls this. I typically take a voltage meter to see if it is the relay or the module. If you need to have this looked at, consider YourMechanic, as a certified mechanic can come to you home or office to diagnose the issue with your radio and help you repair it.

It feels like my car is about to break down, like I am very carefully carrying the engine home so it doesn’t fall out.
ANSWER : Hi there. I would typically start by checking to see if the check engine light is on and then I would scan the computer for codes. This can give some insight as to what is going on. If there are no codes then I’d monitor the signal from the sensors to make sure that they are all working fine. If those are also fine then the issue sounds like it may be a catalytic converter or a transmission problem. This vehicle has a history of transmission failures that could cause this. Also, if the catalytic converter fails it will cause the same symptoms. I usually test the converter for any signs of failure and do a back pressure test of the exhaust before getting into the transmission. If you’d like assistance in diagnosing this issue, a certified YourMechanic technician can inspect these issues with your engine hesitating and help diagnose your vehicle.

Your issues with the air conditioning unit are likely unrelated to the issues with your engine, and you will likely need your AC unit inspected in order to diagnose that issue.

Radio Fault
ANSWER : Hi Kritesh. It sounds like the stereo amplifier in your vehicle has failed internally, lost power, lost ground, or lost signal from the radio. Perform a quick check of the radio functions; change stations, adjust volume, etc… If all of these are showing proper changes on screen, then the problem definitely lies in the amplifier area. Using an electrical wiring diagram, locate the power source and ground for the amplifier and check with a digital volt ohm meter; repair as necessary. Based on my experience with Toyota & Lexus, I’ve found that the amplifier fails much more often than the radio. I suggest having a qualified technician perform an inspection to avoid replacing unnecessary parts. If available in your arear, Your Mechanic has several available technicians that can assist you with a radio has no sound inspection.
