Powerful resistance when shifting into 1st, 3rd or 5th gear

Yesterday I took off and cleaned the ICAV, and removed and put back on the throttle body to fix idle issues and revving problems. This fixed that however now I cannot get the shifter to go into 1st 3rd or 5th. ONLY the odd gears are having trouble. 2nd, 4th, 6th and R. All work fine with no issues or problems. The shifter requires force to put into gear, and then sticks, almost pulling back when you try and come out of 1st 3rd and 5th.

My car has 178000 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
Hi there. To be blunt, I can’t figure how making any adjustments to a fuel system component would impact the transmission. The only time this would apply is if the engine idle speed has increased; which can impact the transmissions ability to shift correctly. Your issue is possibly caused by an electrical fault or speed / shift sensor problems that is faulty. I would recommend that you start by completing a diagnostic scan with a digital scanner, to download any fault codes. This might give you a starting point as to what’s causing this issue.

A Thermal Research cat-back exhaust system relieves backpressure and delivers a throatier note. At the track, these mods helped hustle the RSX to 60 mph in 6.45 seconds and cover the quarter mile in 14.83.
The base model RSX was available with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission with Sequential SportShift and Grade Logic Control.
Unlike the Integra, which came in coupe and sedan forms, the RSX is built only as a front-wheel-drive hatchback coupe.
Sold in Japan as the 4th generation Integra, the RSX used versions of a new 2.0L twin cam four-cylinder engine. It had 160 horsepower, up from the 140 of the 1.8-liter engine in the last Integra LS and GS. The Type-S`s 200 hp compared favorably with the Integra GS-R`s 170 hp, or even the Type-R`s 195 hp.
Overall, a good 0-60 time for a car is generally considered to be between 5-7 seconds.
If you`re looking to go all-out, a built bottom-end with aftermarket sleeves could well go all the way to 1,000hp.
You want your Acura RSX to last as long as possible. With proactive maintenance, your RSX could be on the road well past the 200,000 mile mark. So, you want to care for your car, but you`re not sure when to get certain services.
has a top speed of 140 mph, which is pretty fast for a car of that size. If you`re looking for a slow vehicle, the RSX probably isn`t the one for you. Some other vehicles to consider that are highly recommended for young drivers include: Subaru Forester: top speed 127 mph.
RSX Type-S cars get leather seating materials and a premium Bose audio system. More upscale items like traction control, stability control, heated seats or 17-inch wheels aren`t on the options list, however.
1000HP RSX 2.2L🚀 Worlds Quickest Acura RSX Full weight with A/C!
The RSX was powered by a 2.0-liter engine fitted with the already famous VTEC variable valve timing, which was paired with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic.
The 2027 Honda Civic Type R is powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder engine which produced 201 HP and 144.56 LB-FT of torque. The car had a maximum speed of 141 MPH.
The performance test track version with all the bells and whistles did it in 7.5 seconds, according to Motortrend. This was a fast car. 0-60 times are a common metric with which auto manufacturers advertise their new cars, an easy statistic for the average consumer to understand and impress their neighbors with.
Wondering what RPM should a car drive at when on a highway? There is no single RPM that is considered “normal” when cruising on a highway. To reduce wear and tear to the engine and ensure you get maximum fuel efficiency, it`s best to stay in the 2000-3000 RPM range when driving on a highway at 60-70 mph.
For the best fuel efficiency, keep your RPMs between 1,500 and 2,000 RPM when driving at a constant speed.
The K20 engine, as its name suggests, was a 2.0 engine and was plenty powerful for a unit of that capacity. There are multiple versions that made between 150-221 HP, depending on the application. Torque figures weren`t too bad either, with all units producing between 131-159 lb-ft.
You can build a relatively reliable 400-600HP stock engine turbo setup, and if you lose an engine, its $800-1200 to replace rather than $3-5,000 for a new built engine.
Keep in mind the “stock” K20A Type R engine puts out 220hp at 8,000rpm, with a max torque output of 152 lb-ft at 7,000rpm.
Use D3 when towing a trailer in hilly terrain, or to provide engine braking when going down a steep hill. D3 gives you more power and increased engine braking. For faster acceleration when in D3, D4 or D5, you can get the transmission to automatically downshift by pushing the accelerator pedal to the floor.
While those limitations can be mitigated, the truth is that front-wheel-drive isn`t as potent for driving performance as its alternatives. And that`s why this epic turbocharged AWD Acura RSX now exists.
Prices for a used Acura RSX currently range from $4,995 to $18,991, with vehicle mileage ranging from 22,531 to 213,421. Find used Acura RSX inventory at a TrueCar Certified Dealership near you by entering your zip code and seeing the best matches in your area.
When it comes to the Acura RSX, the Type S is typically the most turbo-friendly choice, and many owners have achieved around the 300-350hp bracket with a turbo kit and some simple bolt-on mods. The K-series engine is capable of some impressive figures, and some enthusiasts have achieved over 500hp from the stock block.
The Acura RSX is actually a rebadged JDM spec Honda Integra DC5, so while it`s technically not just a rebadged Civic, it still looks familiarly like a Honda.
The 2005 RSX has a timing chain (not a belt) that`s supposed to last the life of the engine. Why are you saying it`s a belt that needs to be replaced?

Powerful resistance when shifting into 1st, 3rd or 5th gear
ANSWER : Hi there. I got sound when I shift to 3rd gear and it’s get hard to put shift to second gear when car is in 3rd gear.
ANSWER : Hello. It sounds as though the synchronizers in the transmission, which are used to adjust transmission internal gear speed when upshifting or downshifting are possibly worn out or you are shifting a bit too fast. It is also possible that the clutch is not releasing fully when you press the clutch pedal. In some conditions, utilizing synthetic gear oil in the transmission can help the quality of gear shifting. If the clutch is not fully releasing an inspection of the clutch hydraulics is a good idea. I would recommend having an inspection of the hard shift completed by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, diagnose this problem, give you an accurate assessment of damage and cost for repairs.

Loose gearbox that won’t find 2nd or 5th gear, sometimes hard to differentiate between 1st and 3rd.
ANSWER : There are a couple of possibilities. The first thing that comes to mind is of course the shifter itself. There is a nylon ball and socket joint at the base of the gearshift lever that sometimes falls apart, making the feel of the shifter very vague. Additionally, there are links to the transmission shift linkage that involve nylon bushings and joints that can fall apart. Both problems are very common on your car. The other less common possibility is that you have a bad motor mount that is allowing the transmission to move around too much when you try to shift gears. either way, it’s not a big deal to fix, and probably won’t require expensive transmission work. If you contact Your Mechanic, they can send a technician to your home or office to check out you shifting issue and let you know what repairs it will take to correct it.

My manual car won’t go into gear, it turns on and the clutch goes down perfectly fine. It happened after my gears grinded, the car
ANSWER : If the clutch mechanism is releasing properly, and the shift linkage is not malfunctioning, your transmission will have to be removed from the vehicle and inspected. Once a transmission has been removed from a vehicle, if the problem is a broken or worn part or parts, and the transmission has 100,000 miles or more, the most cost effective approach is to just simply rebuild the whole transmission. There are transmission rebuild kits that are sold just for this purpose. Rebuilding a transmission is no big deal and is indeed easier in many respects than rebuilding an engine. You can rebuild your transmission right in your own garage. You can NOT rebuild an engine in your own garage due to the highly specialized, and extremely costly, machine shop equipment required. Occasionally, mobile mechanics will take on a transmission rebuild job especially as once the mechanic removes the transmission from the vehicle, it is just simply a modular unit that can be easily transported to a mechanic’s shop and rebuilt right there and then returned to your vehicle. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.

Transmission falling out of gear, hesitates to shift.
ANSWER : Hi. There is a definite problem with your transmission. Its sounds like the valve body or the shift solenoids are bad and the clutches of the transmission are worn out. The fuse for the dtc connector could be blown and thats why the scan tool will not read the codes in the computer. I suggest you have the fuses checked and your transmission diagnosis by a highly qualified technician. YourMechanic would be pleased to complete this repair for you.

My car goes from 1st to 3rd gear. I have to hit 3000 rpm for it to shift to third from fist gear. Its a 2008 ford escape 115500 mi
ANSWER : Hi there. Either the downshift solenoid is sticking on and not allowing the gear to shift into second or the overdrive band is slipping causing the gear to not grab. There could also be the solenoids SSA and SSC not coming on. For the transmission to not effect the other gears, the SSC solenoid may be defective or leaking.

I recommend seeking out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you with your transmission issue.

My gear shift doesn’t shift to any other gear its stuck on neutral. I open the gear assembly and I can pull a lever which allows me to move it.
ANSWER : Hi there. The shifter interlock solenoid is not working and needs replaced. The shifter interlock solenoid makes the shifter lock in place so it does not move if you accidentally move it into another gear. If you need further assistance with your shifter not working, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.
