Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
The green key flashing is an immobilizer which can be caused for many reasons including a simple bad battery connection. The rough idle problem suggests a potentially bad idle air control module which regulates the air flow into the intake system as it is mixed with fuel prior to being injected into the motor. When this is faulty, it will cause the car not to idle correctly or intermittently. The bad battery connection may also be responsible for the gauges not working as well. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your home to diagnose this rough idling issue with a scanning tool which will provide vital information from the car’s computer indicating the problem.

Usually, when the check engine light is on and the car is shaking, that means you`re dealing with an engine misfire. Basically, the check engine light comes on whenever there`s an issue that could increase vehicle tailpipe emissions.
Other common reasons for a Check Engine Light are dirty mass airflow sensor, damaged oxygen sensor, faulty emissions control part, a malfunction with the fuel injection system, faulty head gasket, or defective spark plugs to name a few.
The engine clicking sound can be caused by a leak in your engine, a faulty oil pump, or insufficient oil in the reservoir. If you were to continue driving the vehicle, permanent damage could occur. If there isn`t enough lubrication in your engine, the engine could eventually fail.
A flashing check engine light indicates a severe problem with the engine and is advised to pull over to the side of the road as soon as you can safely and turn engine off. It is advised to have vehicle towed to repair facility. That something in the car is malfunctioning—and it could be the light itself.
Motor mounts keep the engine attached to the car. If the vehicle shakes or the engine shudders a lot when stopped at a stoplight, or when parked with the engine idling, it might indicate the motor mounts or transmission mounts are damaged or broken. To see if this is really the problem, shift the car into neutral.
Generally, the cause of a misfire at idle is an incorrect air-fuel mixture. This can be caused by a faulty O2 sensor, a fuel injector that needs cleaning, or even vacuum leaks.
A malfunction indicator lamp (the check engine light) is an engine management system that warns drivers of malfunctioning parts. This warning is often indicative of a large issue brewing beneath the hood of the car, but can also sometimes signal to something as simple as a loose gas cap.
We often encounter engines that have a cold-start knock or ticking noise. In this case, the 3.5-L V6 engines installed in various Honda models can make a knocking or ticking noise at idle and only when warm.
If your car is making clicking sounds when driving, a likely culprit is low or dirty engine oil. Motor oil lubricates all of the components so that you can drive with ease. If you are running low on engine oil, the metal parts may start to tap and grind over time.
The most likely problem is an engine misfiring from an ignition problem, such as a failed spark plug, plug wire, or coil problem. Some of these engines may also have problems with fuel injectors. I recommend having the Check Engine Light diagnosed by a certified mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic.
A flashing CEL indicates a severe problem, one that requires immediate car repair. In other words, if your check engine light is flashing, pull over and call a tow service. Continuing to drive your car with a flashing CEL can cause irreversible damage to internal components.
A flashing check engine light is likely to indicate a misfire in the engine, so the car may judder and could sound rough. Continued driving could overheat and damage the expensive catalytic converter, which is part of the exhaust system. You should immediately drive to a garage, using the accelerator gently.
How to fix it? Cleaning or replacing the fuel filter and adding a fuel injector cleaning treatment to the fuel tank should take care of clogged fuel injectors. If the rough idle persists, it`s time to take your car to an auto repair shop.

One common cause of shaking while idling can be loose engine mounts. Engine mounts are the connections between your engine and your car — they keep your motor safely attached while dampening vibrations produced by your engine. When those connections wear out, you`re more likely to feel the vibrations.
The most prevalent cause of vibration is problems with your wheels or tires. The potential problems include improper wheel and tire balance, uneven tire wear, separated tire tread, out of round tires, damaged wheels and even loose lug nuts.

2007 Honda Pilot Check Engine Light and VSA light on and idling at higher RPM, problem with acceleration
ANSWER : Hi there. The Vehicle Stability Assist light typically will trigger when the system has been disabled and it not the source of misfiring or acceleration issues in most cases. Since your check engine light is illuminated as well, it is highly probably that the root source of this issue will be discovered by having a professional mobile mechanic complete a check engine light inspection. This will permit them to download all stored error codes and correctly diagnose the root issues your Honda Pilot is experiencing and recommend the right repairs.

Check engine light refuses to go off after engine replaced
ANSWER : Hello there, you have a long series of issues going on with your 2013 Hyundai Sonata. If you keep getting a repeating oil light on than there is likely a fault in that system.

Since this fault has lasted after the engine was replaced it could be a oil pressure sensor, wiring harness fault, ECU fault, oil pump, oil strainer clogged, or low oil pressure.

To diagnose this issue properly you need a complete vehicle inspection to start from square one and identify the root cause of all this.

2006 Ford Mustang has check engine light on
ANSWER : There are countless potential causes for your illuminated check engine light. The mechanic manually turned off the light, but it came back on because the problem has not been fixed. The first place to start is retrieval of the stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). These codes serve as a starting point for any further diagnostics a mechanic may perform. Codes will be stored anytime the check engine light is on. Since the first mechanic was unable to fix your concern, I recommend giving the professionals at YourMechanic a call. We offer expert check engine light diagnosis and repair.

Check Engine Light comes on after starting pickup
ANSWER : Hello there, thank you for asking about your 1992 Isuzu Pickup. A professional will have the correct equipment to read OBD1 codes. Retrieving the diagnostic trouble code(s) is the first place to start when diagnosing your vehicle. Increasing RPMs changes engine load, which can in turn affect many different sensors and components, causing the Check Engine Light to illuminate. The only way to narrow down the options and find the culprit is through in person diagnosis with an OEM compatible scan tool. A certified technician from YourMechanic can retrieve the OBD codes at your home or office.
