I filled my car up with gas then drove maybe a block to get a newspaper. The car died when i put it in park. A man looked at it and told me it was the fuel pump. I changed the pump, but it still wont start. I have changed the O2 sensor, crank and cam senors. I have also put new plugs in it last year. I practically put a whole new top half of motor in it. It will crank but will not start. I still owe on the car and i'm getting very upset cause its broke down more than I can drive it.
Can you please help me? Why will my car not start?

With a car that cranks but won’t start, there are a few things that need to be checked. But before I explain them, there is a common thing that happens with Nissan’s. Every once in awhile they will flood the cylinders with fuel and wash the oil film off the cylinder walls and rings. This will reduce compression enough that the car will not start. Fortunately, there is an easy fix for this problem. It is what is known as clear flooding.

Hold the gas pedal all the way to the floor while cranking the motor. It won’t start immediately and when it does it will not run very well at first. Feather the throttle to keep it running until the motor clears out the excess fuel and the motor begins to run smoothly. If after cranking the motor with the gas pedal held to the floor for at least

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

The most common reasons a Nissan Altima won`t start are a dead battery, an alternator problem, or failed starter. Search our network of RepairPal Certified shops near you to speak with a technician about your issue. Oops!
One of the most common causes for a Nissan not starting is due to an issue with the battery. The first thing to do is make sure all of the connections are on tight, as this can sometimes cause problems with starting.
If the filter is clogged, it may not allow enough air to flow in, leading to problems with acceleration. This may also make it hard for the vehicle to gain speed when at higher miles per hour as well. That is because the wrong air-to-fuel mixture is sent to the combustion chambers to burn.
Why won`t my car start but I have power? If you attempt to start up your car but the engine won`t turn over and the dashboard lights up, then you most likely have an issue with your battery. You could have a damaged or corroded battery terminal, which is stopping the engine from starting up when you fully turn the key.
Starting Your Nissan

If your vehicle has a key fob port, insert the fob in the port and tap the brake pedal or clutch while pressing the START/STOP button. If your vehicle does not have a port, you`ll need to step on the brake or clutch while pressing the key fob up against the START/STOP button.

Why does my car not accelerate when I push the gas? A car not accelerating properly can be caused by a number of things. It could be due to the throttle body, gas tank, spark plugs, or the ECU. It could also be because you have a dirty air filter or a clogged fuel filter.
Either you don`t have enough petrol, or you don`t have enough power in your vehicle. There are several causes for your car to lose power significantly while accelerating. The most typical causes of a car not accelerating while driving include a faulty sensor, contaminated fuel or air filters, or a faulty timing belt.
If your Nissan car, truck, or SUV has a key fob port, just put the fob in the port and tap the brake pedal or clutch as you press the START/STOP button. If your Nissan doesn`t have a port, just step on the brake or clutch as you press the key fob against the START/STOP button.
If your vehicle won`t start, it`s usually caused by a dying or dead battery, loose or corroded connection cables, a bad alternator or an issue with the starter. It can be hard to determine if you`re dealing with a battery or an alternator problem.
Bad Sensors

One common culprit for this problem is the crankshaft position sensor, which measures the position and speed of the crankshaft. The computer uses the information from this sensor to know when to fire the spark plugs. If the sensor isn`t working, the spark plugs won`t fire, keeping the engine from starting.

A Bad Crankshaft Position Sensor

The crankshaft position sensor monitors the position and rotational speeds of the crankshaft. Without the crank sensor, the engine control module (ECM) wouldn`t know when to fire the fuel injectors and ignite the spark plugs.

Where is the fuel filter located on my Nissan? The fuel filter is always going to be found between the fuel tank and the engine.

Most cars have an in-tank pump mounted within the fuel tank, although some have an inline pump located between the gas tank and the engine.

I pulled into a parking spot and put my car into park, when I lifted my foot from the brake the car continues forward.
ANSWER : The vehicle transmission did not get back to the park position due to the shift cable came off of the transmission shift linkage. You will need to have a mechanic like one from YourMechanic come to you and check the shift cable connection at the transmission to see if the shift cable bushing broke and let the cable end disengage from the shift linkage. The shift cable may need replaced if the cable end bushing is not available. I recommend a mechanic check the shift cable and replace cable or repair cable end as parts allow.

My car ran oit of gas. I went and filled up a gas can and put it in . My car still won’t start
ANSWER : Hi there. Unfortunately, in most cases when the car runs out of gasoline, the fuel pump dries up and can be damaged. I would recommend having your car towed to your home and then have a professional mechanic come to your home and complete a car is hard to start inspection so they can determine why the car won’t start.

My car will be starting perfect and when the gas tank gets lower it will start having problems .
ANSWER : Based on the information you gave, it sounds like a possible fuel starvation issue, caused by a partially blocked, in-tank fuel filter or a crack in the fuel pump housing. The remedy would be to replace the fuel pump assembly and filter. The overheating may be caused by several things, including a stuck thermostat, faulty water pump, or even a cracked head gasket. I suggest having a certified technician, like one from YourMechanic, inspect the relevant systems to pinpoint the cause of your vehicle’s hard starting issue and overheating problem.

Will not start. Acts as if it’s not getting gas.
ANSWER : As you may know, the motor requires a very precise mixture of fuel and air in order for it to run properly. When the fuel injectors are not spraying an even, uniform pattern of fuel, this causes an imbalance in this air.fuel mixture resulting in the motor often times starving for fuel or in some cases being flooded with too much fuel. In your case, it sounds like the motor is starving for fuel as indicated by the motor running fine once fuel was sprayed directly into the intake. I would recommend having a professional from YourMechanic come to your location to diagnose and inspect your vehicle.

Car won’t start. I ran out of gas then put gas in and drove home now it won’t start.
ANSWER : There is a possibility that running the car out of fuel may have damaged the fuel pump. The fuel pump relies on the fuel inside the tank to keep it cool and working properly. When the tank is run dry, this results in the fuel pump generating an immense amount of heat and in some cases burning itself up. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location to inspect your fuel pump.

My car ran out of gas and now it will not start even after putting gas in the tank
ANSWER : If the starter motor itself is not functioning (i.e., no engine cranking), then the starter circuit has to be diagnosed. If the starter motor is functioning, but the car is not starting, you could have a circumstance where the fuel pump overheated because it was run dry. That could cause the pump impeller seal to fail. First, check for the characteristic, but momentary, whirring sound from the in-tank fuel pump at key "on". If no fuel pump operation is detected at key "on", check for battery voltage at the pump wire harness at key "on". If no voltage is detected, that circuit has to be diagnosed all the way back to the battery to find the fault. If there is power to the pump, but no momentary pump operation at key "on", the pump would be condemned and replaced. If the pump does operates, check fuel pressure in fuel rail to confirm that it is operating properly and supplying adequate pressure. If you desire that a certified mechanic resolve this, please request a no start diagnostic and the responding mechanic will get it diagnosed and repaired for you. can a alternator belt make car not start because I was driving my car and I ran out of gas and i put a little gas in? belt broke
ANSWER : Hi there. It is very difficult to diagnose this type of hard to start issue remotely due to the fact that both issues; running the vehicle out of gas and the alternator belt being broken can cause the car to not start. It’s kind of like a chicken / egg type deal. In order for the fuel pump to deliver fuel, it needs power. It receives this power from the battery initially, but then the alternator. If the alternator belt is broken, you won’t have power supplied to components. It is best to have a professional mobile mechanic complete a car is hard to start inspection to determine what is causing the starting problems on your Dodge Neon.
