Inside the vehicle, pull the hood release handle located under the left-hand side of the instrument panel.
In order for your car`s hood to remain securely closed while you`re driving, a latch is used. Because the hood latch does not have an exterior release, a release cable is used.
A hood with a broken latch could be a safety hazard since it is possible it`s not securely closed. And in this condition, it`s possible for the hood to suddenly release while you are driving, obscuring your view of the road.
If the hood is stuck closed, see if you can see the primary latch lever through the grille. If you can`t access the primary latch lever through the grille, see if you can access it by laying underneath the vehicle. If able, apply upward pressure to the hood with a plastic trim tool to protect the paint.
In general, the hood latch system starts with a release handle located on the left side of the driver`s area. This handle is connected to an insulated cable that runs towards the front of the vehicle. The other side of the cable is connected to a latch under the hood that keeps the hood flush against the car`s body.
In this scenario, the most likely cause of the hood not shutting is something being in the way of the closing mechanism, a hood latch assembly failure, or a faulty latch striker. The hood latch can fail over time and repeated use, so I would double check these components to see if you can find the problem.
Under the hood of most cars, trucks, vans and even tractors is a latch. Known as a hood latch, it temporarily holds the hood down. Hood latches are connected to a handle. When you pull or engage the handle, the hood latch will release.
The average cost for a Hood Latch Replacement is between $154 and $172. Labor costs are estimated between $55 and $69 while parts are priced between $100 and $103.
You`re right; eventually, the cable will stretch or break, and you`ll just have to sell the car. Of course, I jest. Actually, this is a common complaint, and it`s almost always caused by a dirty, under-lubricated or rusty hood-latch mechanism.
1. Forgetting to close the bonnet properly after checking the engine or after a maintenance can cause bonnet to open on motion. 2. A bad bonnet mechanism that is not latched properly can cause bonnet to fly open too.
The good news is that it`s far from the most expensive part replacement jobs and takes under 10 minutes. Hood latches are a little different between every make and model, and that plays a role in the pricing.
Do not drive with the hood open as it can be dangerous. It is difficult to see with the hood in your way, so it can cause you to hit something or hit vehicles around you. If your hood is not working properly, it is best to have it inspected at by a mechanic before the hood opens unexpectedly.
Factory hood struts are hydraulic filled and will eventually fail, without question.

Door locks noisy when opening n closing. Sometimes gets stuck in lock position
ANSWER : Hi There,
This is often related to a malfunctioning door lock actuator, a blown fuse or a faulty power door lock switch. When you use the door lock switch in the car it sends a signal to a relay which then activates an actuator inside the door. The actuator is the final step in the process in that it is a small motor with a set of gears that actually locks and unlocks the latch mechanism inside the door allowing the door to open. When this motor is bad, the latch mechanism will fail to operate and cause the door not to unlock as it is designed to. In the case of a bad door lock relay, the power, normally needed to send the signal from the switch when you activate it to the actuator motor is not there. This means the relay is not allowing the circuit to be completed and the actuator motor is not activated. Any of the above may cause your power door lock switches not to work properly and should be diagnosed by a qualified mechanic. I would suggest having a professional from YourMechanic come to your location to take a look at the door locks in your vehicle.
