Honda says bad usb device when I connect a device that has previously worked

I've played music with my iphone 4s several times before, but now it doesn't work. Also I plugged in an iphone 6 and it didn't even charge it. Even after I disconnected the device and turned off and on the audio it still displays bad usb device.
Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
Hello, thank you for writing in. Honda does not use a seperate fuse for some of their USB circuits. If your model does have a fuse, start by checking that. There are several other cases of issues with the Honda USB ports and certain IPhone cables. The cables will cause the circuit to overheat, and lock the circuit into a "safety mode" so to speak. Some customers have found resolution by updating to a brand specific cord, and allowing the system to remain unused for a day to reset itself. If a new cable does not fix the problem, you will want to proceed with further electrical testing on the USB circuit. For more help resolving any further testing in the port, contact our service department.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

A failure in the functioning of your car`s USB port can usually be traced back to a shortcoming in the hardware or software. Despite how powerful and useful they are, they`re more prone to particles getting inside because they`re open. As such, food, dust, and other debris can make their way into the port.
So, debris such as food and dust makes its way into the port. There can be several reasons why the USB port in your Honda Accord will not work, respond, or charge, from an incorrectly plugged-in phone to a shortened fuse to a broken USB plug.
When you are attempting to play music from a USB device and you receive the USB Error message, then the USB adapter unit is not functioning properly, and may need to be repaired. Tip When you receive this message, the problem may be that the USB device you are using is not compatible with the vehicle`s adapter unit.
Connect a USB flash drive or other audio device, such as an iPod or iPhone®. Install the flash drive or cable connector to the USB port in the center console. The right-side port (1.0A) is for playing audio, connecting a phone, and device charging. The left-side port (2.5A)* is for device charging only.
BadUSB is an attack that exploits an inherent vulnerability in USB firmware. Such an attack reprograms a USB device, causing it to act as a human interface device; once re-engineered, the USB device is used to discreetly execute commands or run malicious programs on the victim`s computer.
Use water, isopropyl alcohol, or eyeglass cleaner if needed. When cleaning, apply the liquid to the cloth, and gently wipe the touch screen. To clean the USB port ends on a USB cable and/or vehicle power cable, use a can of compressed air. Aim the can of compressed air at the port.

If you`ve noticed files disappearing from your USB stick, or you`re getting messages like “USB Not Recognized or Malfunctioned,” you`re probably dealing with a USB drive that`s gone bad. It`s not impossible to recover files from a damaged USB flash drive.

Windshield wipers stopped working. They’ll suddenly stop working then suddenly start working again. Has been happening for a week.
ANSWER : The problem you are describing likely stems from an intermittent electrical fault in the wiper circuit. The windshield wiper system uses a small electric motor to move the wiper arms that you see on the windshield. That electric motor is controlled through a switch, relay, fuse, and wiring. One, or more, of those electrical components has failed although it is also possible that the mechanical arms are binding (seized, if the lubricant has dried out) thus causing the electric circuit to the motor to overload. Regardless of the underlying fault, if you request a non functioning wiper diagnostic/repair, the responding certified mechanic will get this taken care of for you. My dash board don’t work my front light work when I change my light into high beam and my back window won’t go down
ANSWER : As unfortunate as it is, your vehicle would be considered flood damaged. Diagnosing electrical problems in a flood damaged vehicle is nearly impossible. This would take many hours or even days to determine which wiring harnesses and circuits have been affected. Then nearly all of the wiring under the dash would likely require replacement as well as many sensors and switches. On a BMW vehicle, the amount of wires and switches are likely more than that of a lower end vehicle. Due to the inefficiency in cost, you would likely be able to purchase another BMW like yours for less than what it would cost to fix your car. Many insurance companies would consider this type of damage to total out the vehicle unfortuantely.

2003 honda odyssey cooling fans don’t turn on with AC, ac works while driving and shuts off when sitting still
ANSWER : If the fans are not working properly and consistently to cool and condense the refrigerant in the condenser, pressure in the system could rise high enough to trip the high pressure cut off switch, thus accounting for the compressor shut down. There is a control circuit for the fans and that circuit will simply have to be traced for BOTH voltage drops and continuity and, as well, proper function of the relays and any temperature sensors that might be in the circuit. The factory wiring diagram is essential. To obtain this diagnostic, and get the required repairs implemented, please request an a/c condenser control circuit inspection and diagnostic and the responding certified mechanic will get this resolved for you promptly. My 2010 kia blower fan stopped working but was fine last week. This occurred a few times in past. Works fine then stops blowing ag
ANSWER : The blower switch and the plug connection on the back of the switch, as well as a faulty blower motor are likely, too. I would check the blower motor first as you can easily power the motor directly to see if it runs. If the circuit includes a blower motor resistor block, of course be sure to check if the resistor block has continuity (specified resistance in ohms) at each position. If the blower motor runs, I would check the switch as occasionally there will be a bad connection at the switch that eventually causes the blower not to work. The relay is easy to test and if it works consistently as commanded, you can assume there is no intermittent fault. Obviously, check the fuse in the circuit, too, but if the fuse is bad, that means there is a problem in the circuit that will have to be repaired. Fuses blow due to electrical faults (e,g., short circuits). If you desire, a certified mechanic from YourMechanic can diagnose the problem you are having in an electrical component diagnostic.

My AC does not always work. If I fiddle with the blower knob I can ususally get it to work on the lowest setting.
ANSWER : Hi There,
It sounds like you may have a faulty blower motor resistor. The highest speed setting may still work because in most cars in the highest fan speed settings the current bypasses the blower motor resistor. In some cars, if the resistor is failed, the fan may stop working completely. Another reason a blower motor resistor may fail is when the blower motor has a mechanical problem or when a foreign object jams the blower motor fan blade and prevents it from spinning freely. This leads to increased current through the resistor and causes it to overheat and fail. I would suggest having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location to diagnose your system to determine what may be causing the fan not to work properly.

Dash, Tail/brake, dome, trunk, glovebox, and door lights won’t work, dash doing weird things.
ANSWER : Hi there. Sure would appear a lot is going on electrically all at once. This could be, a problem in the PDC (power distribution center). The PDC is typically located under the hood and contains numerous fuses and relays. I don’t believe any one fuse will resolve all of the electrical issues. There is a possibility, it is not a power supply issue. It may be, the result of a poor electrical ground common to the inoperative components. Proper circuit testing should be performed. This would confirm the cause of multiple electrical failures. I recommend having your vehicle’s electrical problems be diagnosed and repaired by a certified technician, such as one from YourMechanic.

Honda Civic 2008. AC stopped working suddenly and engine check light came ON for a day.Next day AC worked and no engine light.
ANSWER : Hi there. In both cases, when an AC system is not working and a warning light is coming on the dashboard, typically a professional mechanic will complete the same initial inspection, which is to download the stored error codes that triggered the warning light initially. This tends to give them an idea as to what is causing the problems. This could be something as simple as an electrical relay that is faulty or loose or an indication of a computer related "glitch". Either way, the best way to move forward is to have a professional mobile mechanic complete a check engine light inspection.
