hi my car front passenger axle keep breaking the axle cv join. i have bc coilover and and after market wheel on. i wonder because of the lowness of the car cause it keep breaking while driving or the wheel? The deal recommend me to install back the stock suspension and wheel bearing. OR maybe because of wheel bearing causing the cv join keep breaking??? PLZZ HELP HELP HELP PLZZZ

My car has 105000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
If the suspension has been altered and lowered, then you may be putting the drive axle in a bind. If the axle is put out of alignment and you make turns that put a bind in another direction it takes a toll on the axle joint which can only take so much. The right axle goes bad first since this is the drive axle that gets the most torque from the transmission. I would suggest the same as the dealer and put the suspension back to normal height and replace any worn components like the wheel bearing or axle. I’d suggest you get the car looked at by a certified technician who can inspect your suspension system. They can perform the necessary checks to assess the condition of your suspension and make any repairs or adjustments that are necessary.

What do you do if you experience CV joint failure? If possible, slowly steer your car off the road and then call a tow truck. Failing CV joints pose a serious risk so be sure to get your car into your auto shop as soon as possible.
Replacing a CV joint yourself will save you a fair bit of money, but will require a decent amount of mechanical expertise and time. If you think the job is too complicated, it`s recommended that you leave the task to a qualified technician. This can also help protect you from voiding any motor plan or warranty.
A severely worn out CV joint can even disintegrate while you`re driving and make the car undrivable. You may lose control of the vehicle entirely. It is not safe to drive with a damaged CV joint. Look for some symptoms of a failing CV joint to have it repaired before it becomes unsafe to operate the vehicle.
Bad or damaged engine mounts will cause the cv axle to keep breaking, overloading vehicles beyond its capacity and stress the axles with large bumps and potholes also will damage the cv joint too. Another way drivers can put their CV parts at greater risk is by adding lift kits to their vehicle.
You may be able to drive on a bad CV axle for several months, but it depends on the extent of the damage. We`re obliged to let you know that the safest thing to do is get the axle replaced immediately. The longer you wait, the worse the damage will be.
What Happens When CV Joints Fail. Unfortunately, broken CV joints are not repairable—only the CV joint boot is. If your CV joints ever fail completely, the car will suddenly not be able to accelerate, since it won`t have the means to transfer torque to the drive shaft or the wheels.
Often, the right (passenger side) shaft fails first because right turns are at a sharper angle than left turns, and right turns are more common than left turns. Consequently, the right outer CV joint and boot are the first to go.
In the worst-case scenario, hitting a pothole can result in a tire blowout or bent wheel. But even in non-catastrophic impacts add up over time and have a negative impact on your vehicle: Wheel misalignment (causing premature tire wear) Wear/damage to shocks and struts and cv axles.
It`s not always a worn boot that causes CV joints to fail. When the bolts attaching the inner joint to the transaxle or the outer joint to the wheels fail, the condition of the CV boot is irrelevant. Most gearheads know what happens to a CV (constant velocity) joint when the boot is torn or cracked.
Driving on a Bad CV Joint is Extremely Dangerous!

Failure to replace a failing CV Joint is incredibly dangerous, as the part can potentially fail at high speeds putting you, your passengers, and other drivers on the road at serious risk.

Without them, you can`t accelerate, and braking and steering will also be affected. You may not even be able to control the car. You could be at serious risk for an accident, so it`s important to have the joint replaced as soon as possible. How are CV Joints Diagnosed and Repaired?

Need to replace front left CV axle, do I need to replace the CV boot as well?
ANSWER : Hello, thank you for writing in. The damage done to the unit will dictate what exactly needs to be done. If the entire CV axle on one side or the other needs to be replaced, then the entire shaft is typically replaced at once, including the boots. If you need to replace part of the assembly, the boots are serviceable separately on a need be basis. In that case, you would need to know if you were replacing the inner (closest to the middle of the vehicle) or outer (closer to the tire) boot. Once you have made those determinations, corrective action can be taken. For more help with diagnostics or the repair, contact our service department to schedule an appointment.

Can a leaky CV axle seal ruin a CV axle?
ANSWER : The oil leak itself may not necessarily ruin the CV axle, however if the oil leak progresses to a point where the CV joint lacks the proper amount of oil to sufficiently lubricate it, the lack of lubrication can cause it to fail due to the metal on metal contact on the inner working components. This generates an enormous amount of heat which can cause parts to seize. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your home to take a look at your leaking CV joint and repair it.

Does the CV boot need to be replaced or do i need to replace the whole axle? 2008 Chevrolet Uplander
ANSWER : Hello – the CV joint or axle boot is available separately from a variety of sources. What your mechanic may be saying however, is that given your mileage, it would be best to replace the whole axle assembly for reliability reasons. Replacing the CV boot requires considerable labor as well, and your best repair $ may be to go ahead and replace the whole axle assembly. I would recommend a CV axle replacement by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, diagnose this problem, give you an accurate assessment of damage and cost estimate for repairs.

CV boot or full replacement of CV axle ?
ANSWER : This is a common sign of a failing CV joint. A CV (Constant Velocity) joint is a shaft that connects the transmission to the wheels, essentially transferring the power from the drive train directly to the wheels. The CV joint is packed with a special grease and sealed tight with the rubber or plastic boot, that is held in place with two clamps. The most common problem with the CV joints is when the protective boot cracks or gets damaged. Once this happens, the grease comes out and moisture and dirt get in, causing the CV joint to wear faster and eventually fail due to lack of lubrication and corrosion. When the CV joint becomes damaged or worn, you may hear a clicking or popping sound coming from this area. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location to diagnose and inspect your CV joints.

Concern wether my 2 front axles really needs replacement?
ANSWER : Generally, the leaking from the axle shaft area is caused when the boots crack and the fluid is leaked out. The tricky part about identifying this is knowing when the boots actually cracked, when they began leaking and to what degree. They can sometimes crack slightly leaking very small amounts causing enough of a lack of lubrication to the axles or allowing enough debris into the axle shafts to damage the axles shafts themselves. I would suggest having a professional from YourMechanic come to your location to take a look at your vehicle prior to making any repairs to be sure you are only repairing what is necessary.

CV shaft on passenger side keeps breaking. The alignment is done and nothing else is wrong.
ANSWER : Hi there. Check the suspension to the front axle and see if the axle is loose or moving around. If the alignment is good on the front axle and the axle is solid and not moving around, then the band could be coming off due to the angle that the CV axle is located at. If the band clamp is loose or not installed correctly, then it will come off and cause the grease to sling out of the inner joint causing the CV shaft to fail prematurely. I recommend installing the OEM specified parts to ensure that the part last for a long time. If you need further assistance with determining what brand of CV axle to use, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

I have a Mercury mystique 2000 4 cylinder the passenger CV axle has come off by tire was wondering if I have to replace axle or ca
ANSWER : The constant velocity joint and axle shaft should be locked together with a lock ring clip. If the axle came out and your were driving then the axle may have been damaged. You may also have damaged the joint. You may not be able to just stick it in without getting it to lock in place. You may need to replace entire axle.
