DVD and CD players jammed, navigation not working.

The DVD player is no longer working and has a DVD stuck inside. The CD player is also jammed and the 5 CD changer has a CD stuck inside it. Furthermore, I cannot close the screen on the CD changer because of this, which means the navigation cannot work either.
Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
When the DVD player and the CD player on your vehicle cannot eject a disc it is because the loading/unloading motor in the unit has failed. Besides taking the unit apart to retrieve the discs there is not much that can be done besides replacement of the unit. There are companies online that offer to rebuild these units for a lesser cost than a new one. They would have to be removed and sent out for this. Most people end up replacing them with aftermarket units as it is easier and faster.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Verify the disc is inserted into the CD player properly. The disc may eject if inserted upside down. Press the RESET button on the front of the car stereo. Try a couple of different discs just to make sure there is not a problem with the disc that you are trying to play.
Hold the power and eject buttons simultaneously

Most car audio systems have a reset feature of sorts for their CD drive. Start by turning your car on, and then turning it off. With the car off, hold the stereo power button and the eject button simultaneously for at least 10 seconds.

A stuck CD may be caused by a non-functioning or weakened motor that doesn`t have enough power to push the CD out of the player. The additional assistance from pliers or tweezers may create enough force to eject the CD.
Press your CD player`s power and eject buttons down at the same time, holding them for about ten seconds. If your stereo has a “force eject” feature, it should spit out the CD. If this doesn`t work, start the car and try again.
You can clean the machine, replace cords, and replace faulty motors, belts, and trays. More often, problems with DVD players are caused by faulty DVD discs, either damaged or dirty. A good investment is a CD/DVD repair kit for polishing out surface scratches, available at larger stores where CDs and DVDs are sold.
DVD player not working might be a sign that the disc tray, tray motor or laser is worn out. To fix any of the DVD hardware, you need to open the housing and check the inside with special tools. If you don`t know how to fix them, send the DVD player to the repair store nearby and replace the disc drive if necessary.
2 Force Eject the Disc

Some external disc drives have an emergency pinhole used to force eject a disc stuck inside. Locate the pinhole on the front of the disc drive. Grab a pin, needle or uncoiled paper clip that fits into the pinhole. Insert the pin into the hole and push until the disc or tray pops out.

6cd/mp3 player shows cd error with no cd and slots 1 and 2 showing that cd’s are in and no cd’s installed
ANSWER : Hello. We will be happy to assist you. The issue you are having is common with Ford 6-CD radio units of that generation. Usually people attempt a reset by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery for an hour or so. Which will reset the vehicle’s electrical system. However that rarely gets the radio to function normally again. The second thing people would generally try is to pull all the fuses related to the radio unit and leave them out for 30 min to an hour. You will need to check in your manual to see where the fuses are located. This last option people tries a little more involving. However these instructions have been verified to work by other Ford F-150 owner’s! Carefully take apart the trim and remove the console cover (two screws) to release the bottom of the trim piece. Once removed, disassemble the cage and remove the cd changer. Carefully separate the ribbon, cleaned the contacts with Q-tips dipped lighty in diluted Alcohol and reassemble. If that does not work you may want to consider getting a new stock radio or purchasing an aftermarket unit.

My back up camera, navigation and radio not working in my 2010 Toyota Camry after disconnecting the battery
ANSWER : First thing I notice is you say the 120 amp fuse was blown. That requires a substantial electrical short to blow. If you disconnect the positive side battery cable and touched any metal part of the car – even for an instant – you may have created that short. Whenever disconnecting the battery, always disconnect the negative cable first. With that large of an electrical short, it is possible that the internal power amplifier of the head unit may have shorted. With any large electrical short, the power spike can easily effect any electrical component in the vehicle. Some are more sensitive than others and will not withstand even a momentary short. It is also possible there is a software issue with the head unit. If you want to retain the original unit, then a trip to your local Toyota dealership for a diagnosis is the best thing to do. Another option is to try a reputable stereo repair and installation shop to explore options of repairing or replacing the existing unit.

My dash board don’t work my front light work when I change my light into high beam and my back window won’t go down
ANSWER : As unfortunate as it is, your vehicle would be considered flood damaged. Diagnosing electrical problems in a flood damaged vehicle is nearly impossible. This would take many hours or even days to determine which wiring harnesses and circuits have been affected. Then nearly all of the wiring under the dash would likely require replacement as well as many sensors and switches. On a BMW vehicle, the amount of wires and switches are likely more than that of a lower end vehicle. Due to the inefficiency in cost, you would likely be able to purchase another BMW like yours for less than what it would cost to fix your car. Many insurance companies would consider this type of damage to total out the vehicle unfortuantely.

Navigation system and CD player stopped working
ANSWER : Hello. Most units for this model are not serviceable. Besides updates and software-type repairs, if there is damage to the unit causing the issue, you must replace it.

Now if there are issues with power supply, that’s a different story. You will have to use a volt meter to trace the power supply from its source to the unit. Start by testing at the terminal where the power supply attaches to the unit. If there has been anything installed in the area, or damaged in the area of the power supply, check there for your short first. Typical spots to find issues are areas where corners are turned with the wires, or where other objects in the vehicle come together. If you would like to have this checked, a qualified professional, like one from YourMechanic, can inspect the electric circuits to pinpoint any issues.

Windshield wipers stopped working. They’ll suddenly stop working then suddenly start working again. Has been happening for a week.
ANSWER : The problem you are describing likely stems from an intermittent electrical fault in the wiper circuit. The windshield wiper system uses a small electric motor to move the wiper arms that you see on the windshield. That electric motor is controlled through a switch, relay, fuse, and wiring. One, or more, of those electrical components has failed although it is also possible that the mechanical arms are binding (seized, if the lubricant has dried out) thus causing the electric circuit to the motor to overload. Regardless of the underlying fault, if you request a non functioning wiper diagnostic/repair, the responding certified mechanic will get this taken care of for you. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.
