Hi there. Check the seat lever and see if it is moving correctly. There may be a lock on the back of the seat that overrides the seat tilt that can allow the seat to tilt all the way back. If the seat is not able to work properly, then you can switch out the seat as long as the seat is the same and the position sensor can bolt up to the rail on the other seat. Plus the mounting bolt holes will have to align up to mount the seat properly to make the seat secure. If you need further assistance with seat not tilting, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

The track motor may have a broken or pinched wire. Look under the seat and see if any wires are pinched or cut from the seat moving. If the wires are all connected and not pinched, then the track motor may have failed.
First, check the fuse box to see if a fuse has blown. If so, replace the fuse and try again. If that doesn`t work, check the wiring harness for any loose or damaged wires. Finally, if all else fails, you may need to replace the power seat motor.
If you press the power seat switch and the seat doesn`t move, then the switch may be faulty. The fault could be the result of a severed wire in the switch or a dead fuse. Either way, you should take your car to a certified technician to have the switch examined and repaired.
What is the reason for this? The perception that the seat behind the driver`s seat is the safest in a head-on collision is mainly due to technological reasons. The frontal controlled crumple zone naturally receives the first wave of impact.
If there is no manual override, you may be able to disconnect the power seat motor from the vehicle`s electrical system. This will allow you to move the seat manually. To do this, you`ll need to locate the power seat fuse and remove it. Once the fuse is removed, you should be able to move the seat into position.
When a seat is stuck, it`s often because the locking mechanism did not engage properly, so shaking it can click it back into place. Apply lubricant to the tracks. Store-bought lubricants are preferred, but something like olive oil can work in a pinch.
One of the biggest signs your power seat switch is going bad or failing is the seat does not move when you push the switch. The seat may not move forward or backwards, or in any of the directions it is meant to move. If the seat is not moving at all, check the fuses to see if they have blown.
It sounds like the adjuster motor is failing, seat track is binding, or the switch has failed. Check for power and ground to the motor while using the switch; if they are available upon command, then the motor is faulty and in need of replacement.
The average cost for a Power Seat Switch Replacement is between $327 and $340. Labor costs are estimated between $50 and $63 while parts are priced between $277 and $277.
A seatbelt can become stuck or locked in when the buckle is obstructed or has something jammed in it. This can usually be small items such as coins. However, there may be other causes, like a tangle or an accidental lock. You can deactivate the auto lock mechanism of your belt by moving the latch a little.

If the power seats in your car aren`t working, you may be able to move them with a winder tool. The winder looks like a cable with a handle on one end and a screwdriver-like bit on the other. Insert the bit into the matching socket on the bottom of the seat and spin the handle to move the seat backward and forward.
A properly installed child safety seat should not be able to move more than 1 inch in any direction (side to side or outward). Grip the seat at or near the belt path and make sure there is less than 1 inch of movement.

Front driver-side seat (part that you sit on) will not move forward or backwards; can you fix this issue?
ANSWER : From what you’ve described, your power seat has an electrical issue. There is separate control setting for each seat position. The power seat has motors that drive a track assembly to move forward or backward. The motors or related wiring could have failed causing this condition. This will require an inspection of the power seats system. Consider YourMechanic if you need assistance with getting this done.

Nissan altima 2013 rear seat latch is broken and I cannot fold down the seat. How do I repair the broken seat latch? What should I
ANSWER : Hello, thank you for writing in. Correcting the issue will involve finding out what the exact issue is first. The latch has a handle that is pulled to release it. If the handle is broken, and you cannot release the latch, you will need to replace the handle. They typically screw or bolt on with ease. If the latch itself is broken, then you will have to manually release the latch with a screw driver or other means first before replacing the entire latch unit. Is this car typically a great running car? And what is usually the main issue with this particular car make and model?
ANSWER : In evaluating the wisdom of buying a particular model of car (used or new), consult the database of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, NHTSA. The NHTSA database contains model specific consumer complaints, official recalls and factory service bulletins searchable by individual make, model, and model year. I encourage you to go to the NHTSA website and enter "1998 Mercedes Benz C230" into the search dialog box and simply review the existing reports. For the 1998 Mercedes Benz C230, I see that there is 1 recall, 2 investigations, 56 consumer complaints (that’s a relatively small number), and 10 Technical Service Bulletins (discussing post production problems unique to the vehicle). If you carefully review these reports you will gain an excellent overview of what has been experienced by other owners insofar as faults in the particular make, model and year you are interested in. I would post the text of the reports here, but they are detailed and voluminous so it will be more practical for you to view them online (it is free). An additional resource, "Consumer Reports", publishes system-by-system vehicle reliability data for all years, makes, and models. This data is available free in the library, or on-line if you are a paid subscriber. That reliability data will give you an excellent indication of the relative likelihood (probability) that key systems on the model (and year) of interest to you will fail at greater, or lesser, frequency compared to those rates reported for other vehicles. Obviously, what you want to be looking for in the "Consumer Reports" database is an indication that the vehicle "make and model year" of interest to you is not a "lemon" insofar as reliability. Finally, to protect yourself in any used car transaction, you should request a pre-purchase vehicle inspection. That inspection, carried out by a certified Mechanic, dispatched to your location by YourMechanic, will give you very specific data regarding any current problems with the actual car you want to buy. If you are unable to access any of these resources, or desire data of a different type, please do not hesitate for a moment to re-contact YourMechanic and we will assist you further in your attempts to make a wise used vehicle purchase.
