After the car is driven the radiator is cold, but the engine gets to smoke around the valve cover what is the prob?

It started out the vehicle cranks but unable to start the engine. Then I changed the battery, alternator, ignition coil, spark plug, distributor cup,and the module.I changed each part hoping one of this will be the problem. Finally, when I get to the module it started. Then something else I discovered,When i drive the vehicle the radiator is not hot, when I squeeze the hose from the radiator to the engine there is no water passing through. But the engine starts to smoke around the valve cover. In fact, at one point when I try to start the engine it quits at least twice on me.But latter it starts again.
Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
Hi there. The only two things that will cause your engine to smoke when running cold is the exhaust burning off oil or having a leak on the exhaust manifold or the positive crankcase ventilation valve (PCV) is stuck.

The PCV valve can make the engine build up too much pressure forcing the gasses out of the valve covers.

If you need further assistance with your engine smoking, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

This is because the pressure in the crankcase may increase when the PCV valve fails, so the oil is pushed out through the seals and gaskets since there`s no other way for the pressure to be released. The leak will cause your vehicle to burn oil and leak oil beneath your vehicle.
A clogged hose or PCV system or inoperative valve can increase oil consumption because pressure builds when the vapors in the crankcase aren`t allowed to flow into the combustion chambers. That additional pressure can force oil past seals and gaskets.
Specifically, if the PCV valve malfunctions, or is stuck open, it allows some of the oil that is used to lubricate the pistons and cylinders to escape. This wayward oil can then find its way to the surface of the engine`s spark plugs, resulting in a condition known as “oil fouling.”
Unless you repair the PCV system, this excessive pressure will continue causing leaks. The bottom line is this: Your service sales staff should understand that a neglected PCV system may cause oil leaks. It also can adversely affect engine performance and gas mileage, but that`s another topic.
From the description you have provided, your vehicle`s bad PCV and coolant loss are not related. The PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve is designed to remove combustion gases that get past the piston rings into the engine. Typically, a bad PCV valve leaks or plugs, replacement is recommended.
When your PCV valve is malfunctioning, it throws the air to fuel mixture out of balance and can lead to poor performance and rough idle, as well as misfires. In the very short term, these issues should not damage your car, but if you don`t fix the issue, you can do lasting damage, so it`s best to get it fixed promptly.
Another symptom of a bad or failing PCV valve hose is your vehicle will misfire while it is idling. This can be from a loss of vacuum due to the hose not working properly because of a leak, the hose being pinched, or becoming clogged from buildup over time.
Oil will burn inside the engine if the PCV valve or the hoses are blocked, resulting in oil going out through the exhaust pipe if the crankcase or the hoses are blocked.

The PCV valve is easily one of the most important parts of your car, and although it is possible to continue to operate your car with a bad valve, it is not recommended as it can corrode your car`s engine over time.
Although its never recommended to drive any longer than you should with a damaged component, driving 12 hours with a damaged PCV valve could be very risky.

I have oil smoking out of my oil dip stick and oil filler on my valve cover. Lots of smoke coming out of my PCV valve
ANSWER : Hey there. Worn piston rings create more crankcase fumes (i.e. the smoke you see coming out of breather tubes and orifices). This is called "blow-by". As long as the PCV valve stays clear, and the engine can handle the fume/clean air & fuel mix, then you should be fine.

This is a normal stage of wear as long as tailpipe blue smoke doesn’t become excessive or offensive. The rough running at a stop light may be an early indication of too much blow-by, although those 6 cylinders engines had trouble with rough idle/low speed because of the big differences in the distance between the carb and each cylinder (Cyl 1 & 6 distant, cyl 3 & 4 very close). Keep it tuned, and watch for slow degradation in low-speed running. If you notice this problem worsen or would like to have this checked, then have a qualified professional from YourMechanic come to your car’s location to inspect the smoking problem and follow through with repairs.

I have gray smoke coming out of my tailpipe but it’s not heavy smoke and my car check engine light is orange my car shut off
ANSWER : You did not mention why the radiator was replaced but I think your engine was overheated causing the head gasket to go bad. This would cause the white smoke out of the tail pipe and an engine misfire and overheating can cause the check engine light to be on. I recommend having the engine checked for leaking head gasket and scan the computer for codes.

My radiator is spitting out coolant onto my engine and the check engine light is on but no overheating and its sometimes dont want to start should I get a new radiator
ANSWER : Hi there:

Before you decide to purchase a new radiator and have a new radiator installed on your 2005 Nissan Murano, I’d recommend having a professional mechanic complete a car is leaking coolant inspection first. This will allow them to determine why your radiator is spilling coolant, and also what’s causing your check engine light to occur. It could be a faulty coolant line or other cooling system component is damaged. It might even be caused by an air bubble.

My car has smoke damage inside somebody tried to steal it and try to burn the car how much does it cost to get a car cleaned out f
ANSWER : Hello, thank you for writing in. Your situation is incredibly unfortunate! Hopefully insurance will help pay for the damages. Pricing is going to vary greatly depending on your location. You are going to want to gather a couple of quotes and compare pricing. The damage done, and the kind of help you have in your area will all effect pricing. If the majority of the damage is inside of the cab, you are looking at having the interior redone. Seats, flooring, electrical components, door panels, window seals, and whatever else would have been damaged will be priced individually for the most part. If engine damage has been done, you will have to do a full diagnosis before obtaining a quote. I am having Mitsubishi Lancer box. Engine sounds well,Car is pulling well, not much smoke but some time engine oil is dippin
ANSWER : Hi there:

A quick way for you to know if coolant is leaking into the engine (most likely caused by a blown head gasket) is if you check the oil and it’s milky or extremely diluted. Also, if you’re engine is frequently overheating, and you get a lot of white smoke from exhaust, this is also an indicator of leaking coolant into the engine. If your vehicle has more than 300,000 miles on it, it’s possible that the oil consumption is caused by valve guides or piston rings that are worn out. You might want to have a local mechanic complete a oil level is low inspection to determine what’s going on with your Mitsubishi.

The engine of the car runs, but when I push the gas pedal it does not accelerate, and the engine does not rev.
ANSWER : Hello. It sounds like you may have an issue with your throttle position sensor. This sensor sends a reference voltage to your power-train control module, which uses that to determine ignition timing and fuel trims. If the power-train control module is not detecting the proper signal from the throttle position sensor, the engine may not accelerate properly. It’s probably a good idea for you to have a professional mobile mechanic come to your location and complete a car is slow to accelerate inspection first, so they can pinpoint what is causing this issue to occur and they will recommend the right repairs be completed.

Oil leak from lower valve cover
ANSWER : You didn’t say whether you have the 2.4L or 3.3L in your Hyundai, but neither of these engines have a lower valve cover. Could it be that you misunderstood the part the shop said needed to be replaced? Anyhow, it’s always good to have an oil leak repaired as soon as possible. However, it will be OK to drive your car until your finished moving, as long as you keep an eye on the oil level. Depending on the severity of the leak, you may want to check your oil as often as once a day. A good mechanic will clean the engine off, then put dye in the system to determine exactly where the leak is coming from. This ensures the correct repairs are made. YourMechanic can perform an oil leak inspection for you.
