2004 jeep grand cherokee v8 4×4 ac fresh air/ recirculation door.

So i had little to no air flow thru the air vents ac/ heater. I thought it could be my ac blower blowing backwards. I took the blower out and saw the recirculation door is broken just layin on top of the blower. I taped the door up to where the outside air comes in and then put thw blower back in. Turned the ac on and i now have alot more air flow, although on 2 of the vents still not very strong. Still, it feels alot better. I was wondering how much would cost to have this repaired?

My car has 124500 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
The cost depends on exactly you want done. If the re-circulation door is part of a larger assembly either that larger assembly has to be removed and replaced or a field fabricated repair has to be installed such that you can once again toggle between outside air versus re-circulation. As far as possible blockages, or failures of other "doors" in the dash network, that would have to first be diagnosed to determine what, if any repairs are needed. The issue could be the doors are only opening partway, there could be actuators that are stuck and so forth. A complete repair is possible but both of the issues you are describing would have to be looked at up close to give you an exact cost estimate. If you desire a complete diagnostic on the issue, and thence an authoritative estimate, please request a ventilation/blower system inspection and the responding certified mechanic will get this resolved promptly. If you have further questions or concerns as you decide what to do, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic because we want you to make the most of your repair dollars and help you get the best possible results.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

The passenger side blend door actuator is used on all models equipped with Automatic Zone Control (AZC). This actuator is located on the front of the HVAC housing to the right of the floor panel transmission tunnel, and cannot be removed from the passenger compartment without instrument panel and HVAC housing removal.
The blower motor is located under the dash on the passenger side of the vehicle. For easier access to the wiring push the seat back, and place your tools on the floor of the car .
An Actuator or Blend Door Actuator, is a small electric motor in your vehicle that runs in forward and reverse motion to move the Blend Door/ Air Mix Door between fresh air and re-circulation modes, hot and cold air flow, and floor/defrost modes.
Blend Door Actuator:

The blend door actuator is typically located closer to the heater core and evaporator than the mode door.

The 4.7 liter V8 engine in the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 Limited generates 235 HP and 290 lb-ft of torque. It has a top speed of 124 mph and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 8.0 seconds.
4.7 HO. A “High-Output” version of the 4.7 L PowerTech engine, producing 265 hp (198 kW) and 330 lb⋅ft (447 N⋅m) of torque, was introduced in 2002, first appearing in the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited as an option and in the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland as standard equipment.
Typically, vehicles have 3 or 4 actuators. Vehicles with rear controlled HVAC will often have additional actuators to control the auxiliary unit, bringing the total per vehicle to as many as 6. DID YOU KNOW?

I have a 2000 jeep grand Cherokee limited 4.7L V8. I was gone for a month in a half tried starting my jeep up yesterday and nothin
ANSWER : It may be normal engine electrical drain on the battery if the vehicle sat for a month or more. Once the battery is recharged fully then you can see if it will idle again. Just jumping off and only running a few minutes may not charge the battery enough to let it idle on its own. You should use a battery charger to recharge battery and retest it to see if it still stalls. You may have a bad battery and need to relearn the idle. If it still stalls then the idle control valve may be stuck closed and need to be replaced.

My 2004 jeep grand Cherokee 4.7L V8 has low oil pressure and will not turn over
ANSWER : Hi There,
It sounds like you may have an issue with a bad oil pump or potentially worn out bearings. This may also suggest you have a worn out camshaft as a result of the cam lobes. This is because the camshafts are reliant on oil squirting onto them from the oil ways fed by the oil pump. On the other hand, if the motor will not turn over at all, there will not be much oil pressure to begin with, which is a separate issue. There are a number of reasons that the engine may not turn over, such as a weak or dead battery, a bad starter relay or an electrical wiring problem. I would suggest having a professional from YourMechanic come to your location to take a look at the vehicle to properly diagnose and repair.

Jeep is having a hard time starting. 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
ANSWER : Hi there – your symptoms suggest a fuel supply issue, quite likely a fuel pressure check valve or fuel pressure regulator issue. Either of these can allow fuel pressure in the injection system to leak down while the vehicle sits. This makes the fuel pump work harder when the vehicle is next started, taking longer to get fuel pressure up to specs. I recommend a hard starting inspection performed by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, diagnose this problem, and give you an accurate assessment of damage and cost estimate for repairs.

Door unlocked alarm, no power window or door lock on driver door only, interior light comes on with L turn signa
ANSWER : Hi there. In general, wiring harnesses are sold by the manufacturer as a whole harness; not individual wires. It is much easier, cost-efficient and safer to replace the entire harness if it’s determined that it is faulty and the source of your alarm / door issue. It would be best to have one of our mobile mechanics come to your location and complete an electrical problems inspection though, as it’s possible that this issue is related to an error code trapped in the ECU. If this is the case, simply clearing the code will resolve the problem. If the issue is determined to be the wiring harness or an exposed wire, they can recommend and most likely complete the repairs as well.

There was a temperature change in my car.
ANSWER : Hi there. The thermostat on the air conditioning is not functioning correctly. I recommend replacing the thermostat temperature scanner for your air conditioning system. The thermostat will determine when the blend doors are to activate and when the air conditioning clutch is to engage. If you need further assistance with your air conditioning system, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

Driver side door lock button not working, and passenger side sliding door makes a buzzing noise
ANSWER : Hi there. These door issues are common on this vehicle. Most of the time the main issue is the master door lock switch on the driver door. It sounds like you already replaced that. As for the sliding door problem, most of the time, this is a failure within the door module or it can be a connection issue.

I typically take the door apart and check the connections on the module and inside of the door just to make sure that there is nothing apparent in there. If the connections and the wiring are fine, then I use a scan tool to check the module to see what the inputs and outputs are doing. If you need to have this looked at, consider YourMechanic, as a certified mechanic can come to your home or office to diagnose your door problem and recommend a repair.
