What sort of advanced feature do the front air bags have?
Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
Your car has advanced air bags that do more than just inflate during any impact. There’s actually a lot of technology built into this system designed to help keep you and your passengers safer during collisions.

Seat Position Sensors: One of the most important features is the seat position sensor. If your seat (or the passenger front seat) is moved too far forward, the air bag will only partially inflate. This is to prevent serious injury.
Weight Sensor: The passenger front seat has a weight sensor designed to detect if there’s an adult passenger in the seat. If there is no passenger, the air bag on that side will not deploy.

Tip

If the position sensor for the driver seat has malfunctioned, the air bag will inflate completely no matter where the seat is positioned.

Standard safety equipment includes Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with traction control; an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS); side curtain airbags; dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags; a driver`s front side airbag; and a front passenger`s side airbag with an occupant position detection system.
The tested model of Honda Civic was introduced in Australia and New Zealand during 2012. Dual front airbags, side airbags and head-protecting side curtains are standard equipment. Antilock brakes (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD) and electronic stability control (ESC) are also standard.
The driver`s airbag is stored in the center of the steering wheel; the front passenger`s airbag is stored in the dashboard. Both are marked SRS AIRBAG.
Honda Civic features 2 different airbag configurations as a passive safety measure. Civic 1.8 V CVT , 1.6 VX MT and 1.8 VX CVT variants come with 4 airbags, Civic 1.8 ZX CVT and 1.6 ZX MT variants come with 8 airbags. Please check out all safety features by clicking on Honda Civic/specifications.
Dual-Stage, Multiple-Threshold Front Airbags

Like other Honda vehicles, the driver`s front airbag is located in the steering wheel while the passenger airbag is located on the top of the dashboard.

American Honda has voluntarily expanded its January 31, 2012 recall of 347 model-year 2012 Honda Accord and Honda Crosstour vehicles in the U.S. to replace a side curtain airbag assembly to include additional Accord and Crosstour vehicles and to add certain model year 2012 Honda Civic and Acura MDX vehicles, increasing …
How many airbags does my car have, and where are they located? Your vehicle has six airbags: frontal airbags for both the driver and the front passenger; seat-mounted side impact airbags for both the driver and the front passenger; and roof-rail airbags behind both front seats, to protect both rows of seating.
Features -Loaded with Cruise control, Dual Airbags abs, Cruise control, Ac, Multimedia Player with AUX, USB, and Reverse with sensor, Power steering, power windows , 5 speed manual Gearbox, Dual tone leather interiors, CENTRAL lock with Remote, steering controls, Fog lamps etc.
Front air bags are located in the steering wheel to protect the driver, and in the dashboard of most cars to protect passengers. Front air bags are not designed to protect vehicle occupants in side and rear impact or rollover collisions.
If you`re not sure if the car is equipped with side airbags, or where they are located, check the outer stitch point on the seat for a small tag that says “airbag”. In the case of a door-mounted airbag, there is usually a small plastic badge that says “airbag”.
The top-end model Honda Civic ZX MT Diesel comes with 6 Airbags (Driver, Passenger, 2 Curtain, Driver Side, Front Passenger Side). Check similar car details: Does Honda New City have safety airbags?
Honda has a reputation as one of the most reliable car brands for a reason. From top safety scores to affordability and all-around comfort, Hondas are some of the most solid vehicles around—but they aren`t considered a luxury brand. That doesn`t mean you can`t find a luxury-feeling Honda model, though!
When activated, the inflated airbags help absorb the driver`s and front passenger`s forward momentum. From the moment the sensors detect a sufficient frontal impact, the airbags can fully deploy faster than the blink of an eye. Immediately after inflation, vents in the airbags allow them to rapidly deflate.
As required of all 2012 models, the Civic comes with antilock brakes and an electronic stability system with traction control.
Additional standard safety equipment on all Civic models include Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with traction control; an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS); side curtain airbags; dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags; and driver and front passenger side airbags.
If you`re not sure if the car is equipped with side airbags, or where they are located, check the outer stitch point on the seat for a small tag that says “airbag”. In the case of a door-mounted airbag, there is usually a small plastic badge that says “airbag”.
If the impact is on the passenger`s side, the passenger`s side curtain airbag deploys even if there are no occupants on that side of the vehicle. If the SRS control unit senses that your vehicle is about to rollover, it immediately deploys both side curtain airbags and activates both front seat belt tensioners.

What do the air bag On and air bag Off lights mean on the dash?
ANSWER : Depending on whether the front passenger occupant classification system detects that the passenger front seat is empty, detects a child, or determines the passenger is an adult, it will turn on or off different lights, as well as controlling the air bags. Here’s what you should know:

Adult

If the system detects that an adult is present in the seat, the air bag On light will light up. The supplemental restraint system (SRS) warning light will be off. The front air bag, the side air bag and the curtain shield air bag will all be active. The Seat Belt light will flash if the seat belt isn’t buckled.

Child

If the system detects the presence of a child in the seat, the air bag Off light will be turned on. The SRS light will be off. The front and side air bags will be turned off, but the side curtain air bag will stay on.

Empty

If the seat is empty, the air bag Off light will be on, the SRS light will be off, and the front and side air bags will be turned off. The side curtain air bag will still be active, though.

Tip

If the air bag Off light is on and the SRS light is on, it means there’s a malfunction in the system. Have the car inspected.

the left front air suspension dropped, No codes, compressor works. Bag fills but not enogu to lift
ANSWER : You have great diagnostic skills! In addition to the components you have listed, it’s also possible the air line to that corner has a leak, or the solenoid itself has a leak. Unfortunately, this is a chronic problem with model – causing many to abandon the air suspension, and revert to traditional spring/strut packages. If you’d like, YourMechanic can dispatch a certified professional mechanic to your location to perform a Suspension system inspection and repairs.

Hot air mixed with cold blows from air conditioning
ANSWER : Hey there. You will most likely have to have a mechanic bypass the heater coolant lines to have this resolved. Your A/C may not be controlling the air flow inside the evaporator correctly out of the vents and may be the blend door actuator stuck in the heat position. Have the AC system diagnosed first before bypassing the heater.

Small rock entered through air inlet creating much damage
ANSWER : This is indeed sounds like a troublesome issue. The vehicle should be repaired using as many OEM quality parts as possible. There are no grill guards for the brakes, but there should be a splash guard in the wheel well that prevents water from splashing into the engine bay. Next time, try to avoid the situation if at all possible. Any guard put in front of the air conditioning condenser will block air flow and inhibit the air conditioning and engine cooling systems. The best thing you could do is to have the entire system inspected before moving forward with repairs. If you need help with this, a certified professional from YourMechanic can come to your car’s location to inspect your AC system and advise you on the appropriate repairs.

air conditioner not blowing air from dash vents, but blowing air from side vents
ANSWER : A few different items can cause the air to not blow out of the dash vents. The most common are a blend door or a control switch. The best method for the AC diagnosis feature can be found in the vehicles owners manual. I recommend having your AC checked by a qualified technician, such as one from YourMechanic, to have the problem diagnosed and repaired correctly.

Cold mist/smoke like air comes out of the air vents when cold air is on.
ANSWER : If you are using regular outside air a/c instead of recirculated air you may be getting a large amount of outside air humidity and can cause a mist to come out of the a/c vents. You should make sure the a/c evaporator drain is cleared and drains freely or the water in the a/c cannot drain fast enough and the blower will pick up the water and blow it out the vents.

Service air bag and air bag light came on after i pulled horn fuse and put back in
ANSWER : Hi there. This may have simply been a coincidence of occurring. The airbag system will illuminate the lights when it detects a fault in the system. As this system does have the capability of detonating the airbags, I cannot stress enough that a qualified technician should perform an inspection to determine what has failed. This is a safety concern both ways for the driver and the technician. Unfortunately, Your Mechanic does not offer airbag services at this time. Please check with a local, qualified shop or the dealer as soon as possible.
