I tried to put the seat down …. even push it down but it won't stay. please help me figure the issue out.

My car has 57000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
On this vehicle, it is very likely that the power seats have some sort of control module that controls all of their functions. A short within this module may cause the seat to move on its own accord. I would recommend having this module tested at your local dealership for proper function. Considering that the vehicle is a 2016 model year, this part is likely under warranty and may be replaced free of charge.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced mechanics :

Most complaints concern the 2016 Elantra`s powertrain, over problems like high engine oil consumption and malfunctioning automatic gearboxes. Electrical issues also make up for a fair portion of the complaints. Problems include rodents chewing on wires, poor quality wiring harnesses, and faulty infotainment features.
Tire issues: The most frequent causes of a vehicle shaking while driving stem from tire issues. Tires begin to behave differently when worn or out of balance. Tire replacement, realignment, and rebalancing are common solutions.
Any unusual shaking or vibrating forces coming from the engine is cause for concern. It could be something as simple as old spark plugs producing an uneven power delivery, it could be something serious like worn or broken engine mounts, or it could be even more serious in the case of internal engine damage.
The most common reasons a Hyundai Elantra engine stalling are the fuel system, the air intake system, or the ignition system. Search our network of RepairPal Certified shops near you to speak with a technician about your issue.
A Hyundai Elantra can easily last 150,000 to 250,000 miles with regular maintenance and good driving practices. If you drive around 15,000 miles per year, it will survive 13 to 17 years before needing costly repairs or breaking down.
NHTSA safety recall results (0)

There are currently no recorded recalls for this car.

Typically, the idle speed will be set at a value in the range of 600 to 800 RPM, but the exact value will depend on the number of engine cylinders and whether the vehicle is equipped with a manual or automatic transmission.
The most common cause of the shaking most often happens near your tires and rims. The tires and wheels connect your vehicle to the road, and if anything is a bit wonky, will notice. It may be something like a broken transmission or a broken control arm.
Motor mounts: It`s the job of the motor and transmission mounts to dampen vibration. When they break, you`ll feel excessive vibration, especially at idle. You can diagnose this yourself by putting your car in neutral. If the shaking lessens, you very well could have broken mounts.
An automatic transmission is more subtle in its signals, but they are unmistakable. Transitions into gear and between gears will cause some vibration at first; but then, as the problem persists, gear changes become more jarring and cause shaking. You should take your car to an AAMCO shop to be checked and serviced.
Some of the most common sensors that lead to engine stalling include the mass airflow sensor (MAF), engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT) and manifold absolute pressure sesnsor (MAP). The idle air control valve (IAC) and exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR) are also well known for causing engine stalling.
The most common sensor which can lead to your car stalling is the manifold absolute pressure sensor (MAP) or the mass air flow sensor (MAF).

WHEN I TAKE OFF THE CAR MAKES A REALLLY LOUD POP NOISE 3 TIMES , MORE LIKE A BAMN POP, POP AND i CANT FIND THE ISSUE
ANSWER : Hello, thank you for writing in. Due to the fact the noises did not appear until the recent brake work was done, it is easy to assume it is related to that repair. Verifying the repair is holding is the first thing you should do. Make sure the pads have not slipped out of place, and that the retaining bolts and screws are tight. If anything is allowed to shift as the brakes are released, you will hear it when releasing them. You also want to make sure the brake fluid is full and bled of any air that may have gotten into the system. If you suspect there is a problem with the brakes, and do not find it yourself, please seek professional help, as this is such a crucial component for vehicle safety. My check fuel fill inlet keeps popping up and I don’t have a gas cap
ANSWER : Hi there.

The fact you’re missing the gas cap is most likely what’s causing the check fuel fill inlet to keep popping up. Believe it or not, the fuel cell is a highly balanced containment system that requires to maintain a balance of pressure inside the tank. The gas cap helps to maintain this pressure. If it’s missing, it can cause engine performance issues, but will always trigger error codes and warning lights to occur.

The best advice I can offer is to purchase a replacement gas cap and install as soon as possible. Once this is done, contact a professional mechanic, like one from YourMechanic, to download and reset any error codes on your 2012 Lincoln.

When the stop engine oil low light keep coming on I put oil in the car why does it keep coming on
ANSWER : Hi there. From the description you have provided, your vehicle’s low oil light comes on when the engine is stopped; this may not be a low oil level. It is very important to not overfill the engine with oil. Always check the level using the dipstick before adding oil. The best time to check the level is at operating temperature, engine off, on level ground, and after the car has sat for at least 5 minutes allowing oil to return to the oil pan. The level should be between ’add’ and ’full’ on the dipstick (1 qt range). This could be a symptom of a faulty oil level sensor. It could be a poor electrical connection at the oil level sensor. It could also be a fault in the IPC (instrument panel cluster). I recommend having your vehicle’s oil low light keeps coming on diagnosed and repaired by a certified technician, such as one from YourMechanic.

P0016 and P0018 keep popping up.
ANSWER : Hi, thanks for writing in. These codes are both camshaft and crankshaft correlation codes. While these codes can be caused by a faulty sensor, more often they indicate a problem with the engine timing components. This could be anything from a stretched timing chain to a failed oil control valve, as you mentioned. The oil control valve solenoid is used to apply hydraulic pressure to the camshaft actuators to adjust engine timing. A problem with the engine timing can result in engine damage, so I suggest you have a professional, such as one from YourMechanic, diagnose this problem as soon as possible.

Lowbeams on drivers side will not shut off
ANSWER : Hey there. To be completely honest my friend, you might need to go back to the basics and purchase a detailed wiring schematic for this vehicle to determine where the electrical fault exists. Quite often when an electrical fault like this exists, the best solution is to trace every connection to see where the fault is triggered. Most of the time, it’s an exposed wire or ground issue that causes the circuit from the switch to the lights to fail. If you need help here, one of our professional mechanics can come to your location and complete an electrical problems inspection.

Having problems with door locks on 08 Cadillac CTS. Driver side door especially and will not lock or unlock with key. Others loc
ANSWER : This is often related to a malfunctioning door lock actuator, a blown fuse or a faulty power door lock switch. When you use the door lock switch in the car it sends a signal to a relay which then activates an actuator inside the door. The actuator is the final step in the process in that it is a small motor with a set of gears that actually locks and unlocks the latch mechanism inside the door allowing the door to open. When this motor is bad, the latch mechanism will fail to operate and cause the door not to unlock as it is designed to. In the case of a bad door lock relay, the power, normally needed to send the signal from the switch when you activate it to the actuator motor is not there. This means the relay is not allowing the circuit to be completed and the actuator motor is not activated. Any of the above may cause your power door lock switches not to work properly and should be diagnosed by a qualified mechanic. I would suggest having a professional from YourMechanic come to your location to take a look at the door locks in your vehicle.

Something under my car. Is making a terribly loud popping noise ( multiple multiple pops) 2003 Mercedes ML350
ANSWER : Hello – noises from under the car when starting and stopping are most likely from suspension components, especially with your advanced mileage. The vehicle rocks front-to-back in both scenarios because of shifts in weight distribution. Worn ball joints, control arm bushings, sway bar links, and strut bearings are all stressed during start/stop activity. I would recommend a thorough inspection of the suspension for work or failing components by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, diagnose this problem, give you an accurate assessment of damage and cost estimate for repairs.
