Focus,Alternator

My battery light keeps showing up, I'm aware that its my alternator that needs replacing but regarding labour prices, I'm being charged two arms and a leg, I know it doesn't take a lot to fit an alternator in as I've worked with mechanics before but don't have the tool to do it myself, what's your advice?

My car has 91000 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.
