sunroof

my sunroof recentley exploded and i got the replacement glass now its seems like its not align when i hit vent only one side of the rail goes up and the other doesn't move

My car has 125000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
The sunroof rail mechanism may have been damaged during the explosion or the replacement. If the window is not aligned correctly then this can also cause the binding. Try to push up on the window when you turn it to vent to see if it goes up with some help. You may just need the window track adjusted. I’d suggest taking it to the dealer for an adjustment.

This system should only be worked on by a trained mechanic since any wrong adjustment can break the glass again. If you’d like a second opinion on this, consider enlisting a certified professional from YourMechanic. They can help you diagnose the issue with your sunroof firsthand. Good luck.

A Decent Mid-Range Proposition

With power going to the rear wheels, the Challenger R/T 5.7 Hemi can sprint from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.8 to 5.0 seconds, depending on whether it is equipped with the eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual. The quarter-mile blazes by in 13.6 seconds at 103.6 mph (166.7 km/h).

How much horsepower does a 5.7 HEMI® have? The 2022 Ram 1500 5.7L HEMI® V-8 has 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque, letting you enjoy a 12,750-pound maximum towing capacity1 and the ability to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in an estimated 6.5 seconds.
The Hemi family is generally very dependable. However, it`s the 5.7L Hemi that stands out as the most reliable. That said, even the performance-centric Hellcat Hemis are solid, going 100,000 miles or more without serious problems.
Still considered a small-block engine based on displacement, the 5.7L Gen. III Hemi uses a hemispherical combustion chamber with two spark plugs per cylinder and small wedge flats along with excellent intake and exhaust ports.
Both models have a five-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the Aspen, with a four-wheel drive system optional. On models with the 4.7L engine, the four-wheel drive system has a single-speed transfer case, while on 5.7L models it has separate four-wheel drive “high” and “low” modes.

The 5.7L V8 HEMI® engine is available only on the R/T trim This engine offers 370 horsepower with 395 lb-ft of torque.

The factory rods are powdered metal with a cracked cap design and can handle about 650 hp. If you`re getting forged pistons, upgrade to Forged Connecting Rods at the same time. The OE cast crankshaft can handle about 650 hp and 7,000 rpm (for a limited time).
The 5.7L HEMI engine block can be safely bored to 0.030” oversized during the rebuilding process and there are numerous companies offering forged pistons in a variety of compression ratios.
The Ford 5.0L makes 400 hp / 410 ft-lb torque, the RAM 5.7L makes 395 hp / 410 ft-lb torque. So actually the Ford motor is more powerful by 5 hp and same torque. Those are great numbers for a 5.0.
The 5.7 L HEMI was released for model year 2003 on the Dodge Ram pickup trucks to supplant the Magnum 5.9 engine. As of 2004 it was the only available gasoline engine in the Ram Heavy Duty.
The Dodge 5.7L Hemi is known to be a very good motor and is one of the best engines that Dodge has ever made. These engines have been in production since 2003 and have had only ever had one major revision to the engine in 2009.

Better gas mileage is one of the advantages of a Hemi engine. That said, not everyone is convinced that the fuel savings and increased performance justify the extra work and maintenance needed to make sure a Hemi engine is working properly.
Top Dogs. Hemi cars are expensive now because they were expensive then. The same holds true for their rarity, especially when talking about Hemi convertibles. Only a handful of people wanted them new, and just as few can actually own an original one now.
2005 – 2022 Ram 1500 oil change fill capacity for the 5.7L Hemi engine is 6.6 liters (6.9 quarts).
The word “hemi” is a shortening of the word “hemispherical,” and as it relates to engines, means a type of engine that has a hemispherically shaped combustion chamber. It`s the same thing that is meant in geography when referencing the Earth, which is split into two hemispheres, north and south.
The 5.7 Hemi is 345 ci and the `05 version makes 345 hp (as rated in the Ram 1500), or exactly one horsepower-per-cubic-inch.

In 1978, Dodge introduced the Aspen Super Coupe – a limited production buzz model that was only available for one year and that would try to bring back that loud muscle car flavor that Detroit was pumping out only a few years earlier.

Sun roof does not close flush with the roof. The sunroof suddenly stopped tilting up to line up with roof.
ANSWER : The glass may be adjustable on the track, there may be a calibration routine in the Factory Service Manual, and there may be lubrication possibilities which could restore range of motion. Those are the simple fixes. If none work, that means that there is a mechanical issue with the track, alignment, gearing, and/or the motor. Those issues require disassembly and inspection per the Factory Service Manual. It is fixable though and so I encourage you to request a moving glass panel diagnostic. If you request that service the responding certified mechanic will get this taken care of for you. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.

Random exploding sunroof is unsafe
ANSWER : Hello, A moonroof (commonly confused with sunroof) is a retractable glass pane rather than a retractable piece of metal (sunroof). Since the glass broke it would be difficult to determine if there was an impact that would have caused it to shatter. If the whole pane was there then it could be inspected for an impact. The only ones who can determine if there was a defect is the dealership. Like all glass on modern cars the glass is made thinner to reduce the overall weight of the vehicle and is more prone to shattering upon impact because it is tempered auto glass. After you have the moonroof glass replaced to add a sense of security, you can have a clear or really light tint film applied to the inside of moonroof glass to keep the glass from entering the cabin.

I need suggestions for how to cheaply seal or cover my sunroof. Please help!
ANSWER : I have seen people seal their sun roofs with a clear vinyl cover (decal type). I would try to find a business that makes vinyl wraps for cars or boats and talk to them.

Also, check the fuses for the sunroof. But if the sunroof still makes noise but does not move, one of the plastic pieces of the track is probably damaged which explains the expensive repair. Sometimes you can get lucky by toggling the switch open and closed while a helper tries to force the glass closed. When you want to get this issue repaired, a certified mechanic can diagnose what’s exactly wrong with the sunroof and make the necessary repairs to get it working again.
