My painted part on my passenger mirror rattles, how can I fix it?

I only have 6k miles on it. When the radio is on and bass is almost off and not even half way up, the painted part rattles. How can I fix it?
Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
This is difficult to diagnose without physically inspecting the vehicle. While this is somewhat normal on many cars, the degree of "normal" depends on the severity of the rattling. The rattling can happen when rubber bushings vibrate loose or fall out. I would suggest taking it to the dealer to see if there are any recalls on this or if it may be under warranty.

Watch out for 1998-2000, 2004-2006, and 2011-2014 models for this reason. From our time researching the history of the Durango, it is clear first-generation models with the 5.2L Magnum V8 are the most problematic of the early Durango models, but that engine was replaced in 2000 with a more reliable 5.9L.
In most cases, the cause of the ticking noise is a faulty rocker arm that`s part of the valvetrain component.
The Dodge Durango has earned a reputation for reliability. According to Cars.UsNews.com, the Dodge Durango is ranked 3rd out of 14 full-size SUVs for sale. It has earned a score of 81 out of 100. Purchasing a well-reviewed Dublin Dodge makes it easier to find a reliable option.
An SRT Hellcat model with a 710 hp supercharged 6.2 L Hemi V8 was available for 2021 only, after which it was discontinued due to emissions requirements. With the discontinuation of the smaller Journey, the Durango becomes the only SUV in the Dodge vehicle lineup as of 2021.
V6 Durangos are sturdy, reliable options for SUV owners. U.S. News gave the Durango an 81/100 for reliability—not enough to blow anyone away, but still above-average.
For most drivers, the midrange GT trim is the best value in the Durango lineup. It`s powered by the base V6 engine and adds several creature comforts over the base trim without too big of a jump in price.
Using the 5.7L Hemi V8 and the V6 3.6L engines of the vehicle, the top speed is 120 mph.
The result was a 0-60 MPH sprint in just 3.5 seconds and a standing quarter-mile coming in just 11.5 seconds. And unlike other SUVs in this list, the Durango SRT Hellcat from 2021 could touch an electronically limited top speed of 180 mph.
You Can Expect To Get Approximately 250,000 Miles Out Of A Dodge Durango.
Derived from the Dodge Dakota pickup, the Durango is a midsized SUV.
ICONIC MUSCLE SUV

With multiple available engines above 300 horsepower, including a 6.2L HEMI® V8 with up to 710 horsepower, the Durango is no stranger to performance. Pair what`s under the hood with class-leading towing capabilities 5 and available all-wheel drive to get the ultimate SUV.

This V6 pushes 295 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque with the eight-speed automatic transmission. The 3.6L Pentastar® V6 can tow up to 6,200 pounds( Disclosure2) having a manufacturer`s estimated 26 highway mpg( Disclosure4).

2023 Durango Gas Mileage

Durango models with the 5.7-liter V8 are rated at just 14/22 mpg city/highway, while those with the 6.4-liter V8 get 13/19 mpg.

If you suspect that dirt or debris is causing the engine tick, you may be able to fix it by using an additive. Changing to a higher-quality fuel and higher-quality oil may also help. Using high-quality synthetic oils is one way people avoid developing the Hemi tick.
An engine with low oil or low oil pressure can make a ticking noise due to a lack of lubrication. If you are low on oil, it may indicate either oil consumption or an oil leak, both of which should be addressed as soon as possible. If you have low oil pressure, you will likely get a warning on the dash.
There is a wide variety of possible causes for the clicking sound when driving your car. However, the most common of them all are faulty CV joints, loose wheel nuts, bad struts, loose drive belts, low engine oil, faulty battery, inadequately inflated tires, etc.
A Rattling Noise from the Engine When Accelerating

Noises coming from the engine when you are pushing on the gas could be caused by a loose or weak timing belt, chain tensioner, cracked flywheel, or a broken flexplate. These issues will only get worse over time, not better.

A broken valve train component, such as lifters or cam followers, can also cause ticking, tapping, or clicking sounds. A broken valve spring or a worn-out camshaft lobe might be the reason behind these noises because of the excessive movement inside the engine.
A ticking lifter is usually an indication there is a problem with your oil, especially as your car ages. It`s possible the lifters themselves are simply worn. If you have a much older car you`ve been driving for a long time, it is more likely this is the problem.
With its 295-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 engine and proper equipment, the new Durango SXT can confidently tow up to 6,200 pounds. How`s that for capability and affordability?
A top speed of 180 mph, a towing capacity of 8,700 pounds and 710 horsepower.
On the first pass, the Durango demolished the ¼ mile in 13.76 seconds at 100.45 mph against 13.85 seconds at 101.32 mph for the Challenger.
The Durango Hellcat can rocket to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. That`s 0.3 seconds faster than the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 and 0.6 seconds faster than its Hellcat cousin: the 2021 Dodge Charger Hellcat Redeye.
They`re often easy to notice. 2021 Dodge Durango transmission problems can show up as shifting delays, grinding or jumping during acceleration, a feeling of shakiness, or whistling noises or a burning smell coming from beneath the hood.

My painted part on my passenger mirror rattles, how can I fix it?
ANSWER : This is difficult to diagnose without physically inspecting the vehicle. While this is somewhat normal on many cars, the degree of "normal" depends on the severity of the rattling. The rattling can happen when rubber bushings vibrate loose or fall out. I would suggest taking it to the dealer to see if there are any recalls on this or if it may be under warranty.

My car paint has a plastic like shield on it and the plastic on top of the paint is peeling off. The paint isn’t peeling!
ANSWER : Hi There,
What you have peeling off is the clear coat. This is a clear coat of lacquer that is applied on all cars after they are painted. This is an additional coat that is added to give the the paint job both a shine and a protective layer. Over time, depending on the quality and the age of the paint job, this may peel off as you have noticed. Unfortunately, the only way to correct this is to have the car repainted. I would suggest visiting your local body shop to obtain a quote on having the clear coat reapplied.

Paint chipping all over, can I protect the paint?
ANSWER : The problems you are having with your paint on your CRV is not isolated to just your vehicle. There are other owners with less mileage on their CRV vehicles that are having similar issues. The paint used on automobiles is put on in multiple layers. First the metal is cleaned and then a rust preventive coating is applied. The next level is primer paint, which differs depending on the material it’s meant for. The primer is a special paint that is supposed to have a high adhesion to the material it covers and provide a good adhesion to the next color coat of paint. Finally the coat of your chosen color is covered in a clear coat to protect the color finish. The clear coat is subject to the outside elements and is there to protect the color coat. Even with proper maintenance of the top clear coat, it does wear, and once compromised, will need to be repaired promptly to avoid damage to the color coat. Now if any of the layers of paint are not applied correctly, through use of defective paint or not prepping before next coat was applied, it can cause premature failure.

Power mirror on passenger side will not retain it’s setting driver side works perfect.
ANSWER : A technician with an advanced scan tool can verify the issue. The mirror system is complex and involves many modules. The Body Control Module is a possible cause, but it’s doubtful; replacement requires reprogramming, which requires special equipment. I would check the driver’s and passenger’s door modules; toggle or move the switch on the driver’s side to see if it causes the problem, and ensure that the mirror glass itself is not loose on the passenger’s side mirror assembly.

Without diagnosing the problem with advanced equipment, the issue is hard to diagnose. A qualified YourMechanic technician can show up to the location of your vehicle with a scan tool to inspect and diagnose your power mirror issue.

Having a problem with the passenger side window switch; the window will go down but not back up
ANSWER : Hi there, this issue generally comes up often when we see a power window that does not work on the passenger switch, but still works with the driver’s master switch. It means that the passenger side window switch has failed. The fact that the drivers switch operates the window properly lets you know that the window components all function properly as that the problem is probably electrical.

A technician that is diagnosing this would use the wiring diagram to find the proper wires to test and check for power when the window is rolled up to see if there is power present when the window is commanded to roll down with the switch. Given that you are still under warranty, this scenario should be something the dealership would resolve free of charge as part of the warranty. If the vehicle is only under powertrain warranty and not the full warranty, the technicians at YourMechanic are able to provide diagnosis for your window and can perform a power window switch replacement for you if necessary.

Check engine light is on for the catalytic converter , I fixed one about a year ago. Is there a part needed, Frontback? Which part
ANSWER : Since your vehicle has a V shaped engine, it will likely have two catalytic converters. Since the engine is mounted transversly in the vehicle (because it is front wheel drive) there will be one converter on the front and one on the rear. If you had one replaced, it is likely the issue is coming from the opposite converter. I would recommend having your exhaust system inspected by a qualified professional who has experience in exhaust system diagnosis and repair.

The passenger window on my Audi A4 Quattro 3.2 is stuck
ANSWER : Hi and thanks for contacting YourMechanic. Cutting the wires to the regulator in a door will not affect the way the engine operates. The vehicle could have an intermittent issue with a stall out or the brakes applying. Now, it also could be the wires in the door going to ground causing a short making the computer cut on an off.

I recommend getting the parts to the regulator and your mirror to fix the job. In the meantime, you can put electrical tape on the cut ends of the wires to protect them. If you need further assistance troubleshooting your vehicle, then seek out a technician, such as one from YourMechanic, to assist you with your vehicle.

Spay painted wheels and it didnt dry and has wrinkles.
ANSWER : If you cannot use the paint stripper to get off the paint, try letting it dry then sand it smooth and then put on another coat of paint. First let the rims set in the sun to dry and harden completely. Afterwards, sand off the wrinkles and then paint them again using light coats. Let them dry for at least 10 minutes between adding the next coat.
