Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
Hi there. I performed some research on your model and consistently keep finding that there are no daytime running lights on the U.S. model; seems strange. It doesn’t seem to matter which version it is, just the market. Should this be misinformation that I keep finding, then I would suppose that there may be a component concern or a setting concern; I have found that previous models have settings that can turn off the daytime running lights. This may not be your case if this is not an available function which does seem strange with the popularity of daytime running lights. I strongly suggest checking with the dealer to uncover whether your model does or does not have daytime running lights before proceeding with anything else. If the dealer confirms that your model does have the option, then it could be turned off or there is a circuit/system fault that is preventing proper operation. I suggest having a qualified technician perform an inspection to avoid replacing unnecessary parts if your model does have the daytime running light option. Your Mechanic has several available technicians that can assist you with a daytime running light inspection [https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/electric-problems-inspection].

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced mechanics :

Check the contact point of the bulb for melting. Check the fuse if both daytime running lights are not working. If the fuse is blown, there is likely another condition with the electrical circuit, like bad sockets or a wiring issue. The ambient sensor could also be disconnected or faulty.
Some common causes of DRL problems include broken light bulbs, blown fuses, incorrect wiring, or corroded connectors. If you notice that your DRL isn`t working properly, take the time to fix the problem before it becomes more serious.
If your daytime running lights do not come on, stay on when the car is off, or produce a burning smell, you may have to replace their module.
There`s not much of a learning curve needed here. DRLs operate all on their own. They illuminate when you engage the ignition and extinguish when the headlights activate. The driver has no real control over operating DRLs because there is no DRL on-off switch.
Daytime running lights (DRLs) are designed to make your vehicle more visible in bright, daytime conditions. They should come on automatically when you start your engine.
There are actually a number of reasons why your tail lights could not be working but your brake lights are, including: Bad tail light fuse. Bad tail light bulbs. Socket failure.
DRL systems automatically come on when you turn on the ignition or when your ride is in motion. They rely on sensors to detect ambient daylight and determine when they activate. Daytime running lights run at a low power level compared to your high beam headlights.

They cannot replace the use of a regular headlight during the night, but provide more visibility during regular driving. These bulbs are ultimately the same as the headlights, but will be turned on at a lower power, giving off a dimmer light.

Daytime Running Lights, also known as DRL, are devices in front of a vehicle that switch on whenever a vehicle is moving forward. These LED lights are universal fit so they can fit any vehicle.
Automatic headlights will turn on when a sensor detects that it`s getting dark outside. Daytime running lights, on the other hand, stay on whenever your car is running. These low-intensity lights are an added safety feature and have been proven to reduce daytime collisions, according to the IIHS.
Is it safe to drive with daytime running lights? Absolutely! DRLs are low-powered and more subdued compared to traditional headlights, so they`re less likely to interfere with other drivers` vision. Unless you`re in a country where DRLs are mandated, in that case, you should always drive with these lights activated.
Do you mean with Day Running Light (DRL) system in BS4 headlight is on everytime when vehicle is operating, so does this drain the battery? Answer is NO. LED bulbs are used which have very minimal power to affect the battery. Still if any issue arises then you can get it repaired/replaced within warranty.

signals, daytime running lights are not working, park brake light on dash is on steady and chime is dinging steady 4×4 wont engage
ANSWER : This is likely a brake light switch problem. I would suggest testing the brake light switch which should be located down by the brake pedal. This may also be a computer problem as well as indicated by the other lights on in the dash. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your home to possibly replace the brake light switch and diagnose with a scanning tool which will download useful data from the truck’s computer indicating what specifically the problem may be.

Car won’t start. The check engine light, battery light, and oil change light are coming on. I tried jumping the car and nothing happened. Why won’t my car start?
ANSWER : Hi and thanks for contacting Your Mechanic. If sometimes your vehicle will start with the new alternator and sometimes it won’t, then there is a loose connection in your charging system. Check all of the wires to the alternator and to the battery. Make sure that the battery cables are clean and tight. Make sure that the wires to the starter are clean and tight. A loose ground to the ignition system will cause the vehicle to not crank over. Check all of the ground wires from the battery to the starter. Make sure that they are clean and tight. If you need further assistance troubleshooting your no start situation, then seek out a technician, such as one from Your Mechanic, that can assist you.

First, the fuse 19 keeps blowing. When I hit the brake pedal my dash lights up. The third brake light acts like a running light.
ANSWER : Hi there. Check the wiring on the vehicle to the tail and brake lights. There is a cross short that is causing the lights to blow the fuses and make the tail lights brighter than normal. If you need further assistance with your electrical issues, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

No dash lights, back right tail light is out, no parking lights. Brake lights work though as does head lights.
ANSWER : Hi there. In many cases, when you have electrical problems like you’re describing, it’s caused by multiple electrical component failure. It’s likely that a few electrical relays are not working; especially if you have systems that utilize the same components (such as your brake light and tail lights). I would recommend having a professional mobile mechanic come to your location to complete an electrical problems inspection first, so they can pinpoint what is damaged and recommend the right repairs.

Low coolant light comes on when AC, defrost or heater is on, but only if the car is in gear and stopped, what’s wrong with my car?
ANSWER : First, you want to make sure your cooling system is full. Check the radiator not the coolant jug. And check it when it is cold. If it needs coolant, add some. Of course, I don’t feel this problem is an actual low coolant condition. I would expect to find an electrical failure in the instrument cluster or from a component or wiring harness that is connected to the instrument cluster.

As a technician, I have access to reports from technicians across the country. I could not find any reports of this problem, so diagnosing this will require an experienced tech as this is not a common problem. In addition, this happens at intermittent times making it difficult to recreate. The most challenging part of this diagnosis will be recreating the symptom. I suspect it has something to do with the brake switch circuitry because it only seems to happen when you have your foot on the brake. I would begin my diagnosis there with a wiring diagram and test light in hand. The brake switch, instrument cluster, and environmental controls all interact with each other. Something is crossed either because of a failed module or damaged wiring in a harness.

Aside from making sure the coolant is full, this will not likely leave you on the side of the road. If you take it in to be diagnosed, be prepared for them to spend more time than usual to figure it out. Since it isn’t a key problem, you may need to live with it until it completely fails making it much easier to diagnose. Either way, I do recommend having a certified mechanic diagnose the warning light to make sure there isn’t anything serious going on.

Good luck.

Battery light goes on when I start car then turns off, if I rev engine light comes back until rpms go down. Abs goes comes on/off
ANSWER : Batteries can die due to faults in the charging system so ideally a suspected "faulty" battery should be load tested before a decision is made to condemn it. The only exception to this rule is if the battery is already clearly "old" (greater than 5 years) but even then once you put a new battery in, as a replacement for a "dead" battery, you have to comprehensively check out the charging system. Diagnostic Trouble Code P0460 will result in disruption of the dashboard fuel gauge’s ability to accurately report your tank’s fuel levels. The fuel gauge readings may be erratic, or read somewhere off scale. Vehicles equipped with a low fuel warning light feature may also suffer from erratic low fuel warnings in the event of a code P0460. Unless the P0460 code has been reported alongside other trouble code, all of the vehicle’s essential systems should otherwise function normally. I would recommend that you request a check engine light diagnostic to first resolve the fault causing the P0460 code to set. The check gas cap light warning light could be due a faulty gas cap and/or small leaks in the EVAP system.

Why can’t my check engine light come on after starting the car?
ANSWER : Hi there:

It’s nearly impossible to tamper with the ECU to disable error codes without having multiple mechanical issues exist. However, it is possible that there is a communications issue from the ECU to the dashboard or other electrical monitoring systems. The best way to know for sure is to have a professional mobile mechanic complete an electrical problems inspection first.
