I'm wondering if there is a specific turbo kit for my make and model of engine

My car has 180000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
The Lincoln Mark VIII has the same engine as the Mustang Mach 1. Taking this into consideration, I would recommend looking for a turbo kit that fits the Mustang Mach 1 as it should fit your vehicle as well. The Mustang Cobra has the same engine as well with an added supercharger that will also fit on your engine. This supercharger is a factory Ford part and will bolt right up to your engine. It is possible that the internals of the engine will need to be replaced with those of a higher quality since they will get much hotter under the power of a supercharger.

Oil is geting into intake manifold and into all intake vavles.
ANSWER : Hi there. That type of oil volume inside the intake manifold is typically a sure fire indication of a blown head gasket. It’s also quite possible that this has occurred for an extended period of time. There are a few things that you can do to verify that this is the head gasket. First, check the oil itself. If it is milky or foamy then it means the head gasket is damaged and coolant is leaking into the oil galleys. If the head gasket is not damaged, excessive oil inside the spark plug well could also be a damaged O-ring but can also be the result of a failing piston or worn valve guides. Either way, the only way to correctly inspect and diagnose this would be to tear down the motor, so you might want to consider whether you are wanting to complete repairs or purchase a newer vehicle.

Installing cold air intake or short ram intake on a 2003 Honda Accord
ANSWER : No, I wouldn’t do it. Drivers that are doing that stuff, they think they have faster cars that sound better and they are nicer–don’t ever do that. Those are for race cars and guess what, when they set it up for race cars, they put on a dyno and 5 gas analyzer in the tail pipe and they tune up the computer to make that thing run at whatever speed they want it to run best.

They run bad at idle but they run great on high speed. If you just put any of those things on your Honda, odds are your Check Engine Light will come on in a short period of time, because when it confuses the computer, the car stops running well.

I recommend not messing with that stuff. If you really want to do it, you can get it done but you are going to have to pay a real pro who’s got a dynamometer, 5 gas analyzer, and experience with how to reprogram the Honda’s computer. That’s going to cost you some serious money to get it done right. That’s why I say don’t do it.

Code p0010 camshaft actuator comes up, and mis fires. Just replaced intake manifold and these weren’t issues before that.
ANSWER : Hi there. There are a few possibilities here. It is possible that you had a valve timing issue prior to working on the manifold. These engines have a ton of issues with the balance shaft and the valve timing as the chain wear. It is also possible that there are issues with the work that you did. I have seen with these manifolds, severe warping and cracking which will cause this to occur. I would start by checking the manifold for vacuum leaks. If there are none then next the wiring needs to be checked for any pinched wires. If that is all fine then I would install a scan tool to check the camshaft and crankshaft sensor readings. If they are off then the valve timing needs to be checked.

I went to AAmco because my engine light was on! They did a diagnostic and came up with 2 codes. intake runner position sensor cir
ANSWER : Diagnostic Trouble Codes, such as the two codes that were retrieved at the first shop, cannot be used to "directly" condemn parts. Rather, these Codes are merely clues that are used to inform an actual diagnostic. But, short of an actual diagnostic, nothing can be intelligently concluded about which part or component has failed. In the case of the Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) system, there are quite a few components that have to be directly tested, and ruled in or out, before any repair decision is made. PCM’s rarely fail (computer brain you are referring to) by the way. As far as the second shop, you should request tangible evidence of a faulty part, that is actual documentation and a credible explanation, prior to letting them do anything. Just to give you an idea of the number of possible causes of the check engine light coming on, if there is an IMRC fault, here is just a partial list of possible underlying causes, all of which have to be looked at: IMRC solenoid that is defective, IMRC solenoid wiring that has shorts, breaks, or is frayed, IMRC solenoid circuitry that has shorted or is open, IMRC solenoid connector that is corroded, IMRC butterfly valve plate screws that are loose or broken, IMRC butterfly valve plates that are broken, IMRC butterfly valves plates that have disconnected from the IMRC actuator, Vacuum control solenoid vacuum filter that is clogged, Debris in the vacuum control solenoid, Vacuum lines that are disconnected or broken, Carbon buildup on the IMRC butterfly valve plates, Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve trouble codes that have been stored by the PCM, MAF sensor trouble codes that have been stored by the PCM, and BARO sensor trouble codes that have been stored by the PCM.

If you want an authoritative diagnostic, and an explanation of exactly what has failed and caused the check engine light to remain on in your car, please request an IMRC system diagnostic and the responding certified mechanic will get this problem resolved for you. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.

Will a very small crack in my intake manifold cause major damage if I wait about 3 months to fix it?
ANSWER : The intake has coolant cross over tubes that directs coolant from one cylinder head to the other. If you have a crack in the intake manifold and it is leaking coolant then when the engine is running and cooling system gets hot and pressurized it will leak coolant at a faster rate causing the engine to overheat and possibility of engine damage may occur.

It is not recommended to drive the vehicle with the coolant leaking. The coolant may get into the alternator causing it to short out. The coolant will also get into wire connectors and cause loss of electrical connection with possible drive symptoms like stalling or no starts.

When you’re able to, I highly suggest having the coolant leak diagnosed by a certified technician, such as one from YourMechanic. So that the right repairs can be made.

Loud metallic clunk and stops cranking when trying to start after removing and reinstalling upper intake manifold,
ANSWER : Hi there. Check the fuel injectors and make sure that they are hooked up properly. A leaking fuel injector will cause fuel to flood the cylinder and hydro lock the piston making the engine stop cranking. Also, check for anything that could be missing. It is possible that during the removal and installation process of the intake may have had a nut or bolt go into a runner on the cylinder heads. When the intake valve opens, the object will enter the engine causing the engine to have a clunk sound as well. I recommend seeking out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you if you are unable to locate the clunking source on your engine.
