My car has 10000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
Hello. Thank you for writing in. The traction control is monitored by the computer using the sensors on your wheel hubs and other related components. If these get water damage, disconnected, or shorted out during the car wash, the computer will detect the issue and disable the system. You may be able to find the issue with a visual inspection. If you do not see anything out of place, you may need to raise the vehicle and remove the tire. Scanning the vehicle for codes may also tell you what component is giving a bad reading to the computer if its monitored. These do not always set off a "check engine light". How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced mechanics :

Put simply, traction control is an electronic system that uses the same sensors as the anti-lock braking system (ABS) to reduce or prevent wheelspin.
The audio unit will return to normal operation at the end of each traffic announcement. To end the announcement prematurely, press TA or TRAFFIC during the announcement. Note: If you press TA or TRAFFIC at any other time it will switch all announcements off.
Sensors Aren`t Responding

The magnetic operation on the traction control sensors or Anti-lock Braking sensors can be interrupted by dirt or other buildups. Another common sensor problem is with the electrical connections between the sensors and the vehicle`s computer.

If the traction control light won`t turn off, there can be some reasons. One reason could be that the fuse for the traction control system has blown. Or it could be that there is a problem with the traction control sensors causing the light to stay on.
The traction control system turns on each time you switch the ignition on. The button for the stability and traction control system is on the instrument panel.
Press the gas pedal 3 times in quick succession. Then, turn your engine on all the way and let it run for a minute. The TCS and ABS lights should reset and go away if there isn`t any underlying problem with your traction control system.
Another light on your dashboard is called the Traction-Control Light (TCL). It can look different, depending on your vehicle model, but it usually has the letters “TC” or an image that looks like a car with lines bending away from the tires.
When turned off, you may notice that your vehicle handles differently than you are used to when driving on slippery surfaces. This is why you should leave your traction control on at all times.
Three Selectable Drive Modes (Normal, Sport and Track) fine-tune the car`s performance by modifying engine mapping, throttle position, brake pedal and steering response.
If the traction control light won`t turn off, there can be some reasons. One reason could be that the fuse for the traction control system has blown. Or it could be that there is a problem with the traction control sensors causing the light to stay on.
Is it Safe to Drive with the TCS Light On? It is only safe to drive with the TCS light on if it appears when you are losing traction: it means the system is engaging. Driving without traction control can make your vehicle susceptible to spinning out and sliding around on the road.
Quickly depress the gas pedal three times. Next, fully engage your engine and let it run for a minute. If there is no underlying issue with your traction control system, the TCS and ABS lights should reset and disappear.
For example, keeping it off is better if you get stuck in the mud, sand, or sometimes snow, especially if you find yourself spinning wheels. If left on, the traction control would slow down how much your car tires spin. Remember: The safety feature cannot create traction but will help stabilize the vehicle.

Cruise control turns on at idle, but when the car reaches 10 mph the cruise turns off and won’t turn back until idle again.
ANSWER : Hi there. Check all of the grounds to the vehicle and see if there is any wires that are damaged from the taillight short. A loose ground will cause multiple problems with the electrical system and some or multiple components will not work. If you need further assistance with your electrical issues, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

Can I drive over 65 mph with traction control on? Or should I turn traction control off?
ANSWER : Traction control helps with the stability of the vehicle in all conditions and works with the ABS system to ensure that the vehicle can stop fast and keep the vehicle in a safe condition on any roadway condition. I recommend keeping your traction control on if the roads are slick, wet, icy, snowy, or if you are off on a dirt road. If the roads are dry and you are driving in more of a straight line and not going around a sharp corner, then I suggest turning the system off.

How do I turn off the traction control and vehicle stability control (VSC)?
ANSWER : The traction control and vehicle stability control (VSC) are key safety features that help your car safely drive in poor weather. However, in select circumstances (such as when you are stuck in the mud or snow), the traction control and VSC can reduce power to the wheels, and be detrimental. When that is the case, you can turn off these systems by pressing and holding the traction control and VSC off button, which is located to the left of the steering wheel. TRAC Off and VSC Off indicators will illuminate on the instrument panel to confirm that the systems are off.

Tip

Never keep the traction control and VSC system off unless you need to for specific purposes.

My check engine light turned on and it also notified me that the traction control turned off
ANSWER : I do not recommend driving the vehicle until the car is diagnosed as to why the lights came on. The issue may constitute your vehicle to be unsafe to drive and should only be driven only to get to a safe stopping location. If you’d like to get this fixed, consider YourMechanic, as one of our mobile technicians can come to your home to diagnose your Check Engine Light firsthand and help you fix it accordingly.

Engine turned off but inside of car still on, now engine won’t turn back on.
ANSWER : Hi there. The symptoms you’re describing with your boyfriend’s 2002 Grand Cherokee appear to be related to a broken or worn out ignition switch or relay. The ignition switch on the inside of the steering column is attached to multiple electronic connections that send signals to a relay box; which in turn, sends the signal to the individual components. The issue could be related to the ignition switch, the relay, or any of the components in between. If you want to have the fault pinpointed in person, I would have this starting issue inspected by a trained professional to ensure that the correct repair is made.

is the anti theft control module the reason why my car turns off immideatly when i turn it on ?
ANSWER : Your car has what Mercedes calls the Driver Authorization System. "DAS" if the DAS does not recognize your key via an electronic code, it will not start at all. If your car starts and shuts off immediately, there is some other problem. It could be a problem in the fuel pump relay, which runs the pump while you crank the car, then waits for a signal from the ECU to keep it running after the car starts. But don’t run out and buy a fuel pump relay yet, they are expensive and there might be some other issue. You need to have the car diagnosed by someone with the right scan equipment and knowledge of the system. Otherwise you might end up buying a lot of expensive parts that you don’t need. If you contact Your Mechanic, they can send a technician to your home or office to diagnose your Mercedes and recommend a fix.

2014 ford fusion service advancetrac message; ads, traction control, skid control and airbag lights lit up all at same time. Is th
ANSWER : ABS, traction and stability control systems rely on input from a number of sensors to function properly. Faults can be in any one of them from the brake light switch, steering angle sensor, wheel speed sensor, or up to a dozen others. Also, a fault code can be present for any of the sensors without the sensor itself being the actual fault. A wiring issue to that sensor or a fault in the abs/traction control computers can also be the cause. The only sure way to find out why the abs and traction control lights are on is to diagnose the system properly. The airbag light can be related if for example, the steering angle sensor is faulty as it provides input for the airbag system as well as abs, traction, and stability control systems. It can also be a stand-alone issue. When the system is scanned, fault codes will provide a direction to take in diagnosing the problem, but isn’t always as simple as replacing "Sensor A". Replacing parts without confirming they are actually the cause of the fault can be more expensive in the long run. Most electronic parts are not returnable once installed so if you replace a random part that does not correct the problem, you are stuck with the cost of that part and still have the same issue.
