How do you program the HomeLink® system?

However, there are some things you can only do by using the “interface dial”. This is the large knob on the lower center portion of your system. It combines three different elements:

The enter button
The rotating knob
The selector direction pad (up, down, left and right)

The selector pad is what lets you access the menu system, and scroll through lists, menus and other items.

To access a menu item, use the arrows or knob to highlight it, and then press enter.

Turn the ignition on.
Take the battery cover off the back of the original remote.
Note the position of the switches:

For any switch in the Up, ON, or + position, write Left button.
For any switch in the Neutral, 0, or Middle position, write Middle button.
For any switch in the -, Bottom, or Negative position, write Right button.

Press all the buttons on your car’s garage door remote at the same time.
Make sure the LED starts flashing (slow).
Enter the notes from the switches using the buttons (the ones you wrote down – press them in sequence).
Press all of the buttons on the garage door remote in the car.
Push the button you want to program to work with the door and hold it for up to a minute.
