Had a p0507 code. Replaced the throttle body and the code came back.

Just put in new throttle body in because p0507 code idle is good an i did the 3 steps to the relearn but lights are still on an now car takes long to kick over why would this happen never did that befor would u now why? 07 maxima se

My car has 121000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
The issue is the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve is not working properly. Try removing the IAC valve and cleaning it and then put it back on. If the light is still coming on, then I recommend replacing the IAC valve. If you need further assistance with your engine idle control, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

What does a DTC P0507 mean? The P0507 code indicates that the idle control system has an excessively high RPM – also called a `high idle`. When idling your car – which means keeping the vehicle`s engine running while it is not in motion – the Engine Control Unit (ECU) has to maintain a specific RPM range.
Do you have to reset computer after replacing throttle position sensor? After replacing the throttle position sensor in your engine, if the engine light was on and has a pending code, the code should go away. If the code doesn`t, however, then the ECM (engine computer module) will need resetting.
P0507 can be caused by anything from an intake or vacuum leak to a dirty throttle body to a faulty electric throttle control actuator.
The easiest way to remove lag is by installing a device on your gas pedal called a throttle response controller. Throttle Response Controllers are blue tooth controlled, inexpensive, and make a big difference in immediate gas pedal response.
It will eventually learn on its own, but it may take several days to a week of driving. In this time, the engine may experience high and low idle speeds, and possibly rough idle. The following is an example of a throttle body relearn procedure from GM: Start the engine and let it idle for three minutes in park.
In fact, on some engines a new throttle body needs to be programmed with a factory, or equivalent, scan tool. The technician cannot even clean the carbon out of the throttle body in some cases without setting a “check engine” light.

Throttle body replaced under warranty has a defect, now out of warranty.
ANSWER : Hi there:

Although we’re not lawyers and not permitted to provide legal advice, to my knowledge, State of California "lemon laws" apply to new vehicle purchases as opposed to replacement services; however, you might want to contact the California Bureau of Automotive Repair for specific guidelines. What I’d advise is to not continue taking your vehicle to a dealership if they are not going to cover the components under warranty. Instead have a professional mobile mechanic complete these repairs; or sell the Suzuki and purchase something a little more reliable; as fuel system issues are common with these vehicles.

Diagnostic code read o2 sensor bad, replaced o2 sensor, cleared code but engine light came back on, is it caused by bad air filter
ANSWER : Hello there. Typically jump starting a vehicle doesn’t trigger an OBD-II error code. However, one of the most common misdiagnosis issues with the P-2270 is replacing the O2 sensor before diagnosing if there are any exhaust leaks. Obviously, you’ll want to check for the exhaust leaks first, repair the damaged component, and then clear the codes before scanning the vehicle again. Sometimes the electrical harness attached to the O2 sensor is damaged or dirty which will also trigger this error code. The noise and vibration may be an indicator of a loose exhaust pipe, which may be the source of the error code staying on. If you need any help, have a technician from YourMechanic come to your home or office to diagnose your Check Engine Light and make the necessary repairs.

It threw a code 21 , throttle position sensor bad code. i replaced it and the code went away but i still have no spark.
ANSWER : Hello and thank you for contacting YourMechanic. The problems that you are encountering with your vehicle, could be caused by the harness to the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) or the computer itself.

Check the harness to the TPS for any debris or any corrosion. Hook up a paperclip to the harness and turn on the key. Use a multimeter and check for voltage at the pins of the harness. Make sure that the ground on the sensor is grounded and has no resistance. If you find that the harness is having too much resistance, then I recommend having the main engine harness replaced. If you have replaced the harness and still have the same problems, then the computer will need to be flashed or replaced.

I recommend having a professional, like one from YourMechanic, come to your home to diagnose your car’s no start condition before replacing any parts.

my car is slow to accelerate. i have a p0171 code. i replaced my o2 sensor but the code came back on. what else could it be?
ANSWER : The code P0171 is a lean code indicating the O2 sensor is detecting the engine is running lean – that is, the air/fuel mixture is imbalanced. You may have a clogged fuel filter or a fuel pump that is not supplying enough fuel pressure. You will need to have the fuel pressure and volume checked with a fuel pressure gauge. You can try to replace the fuel filter to see if it helps first. Your best thing to do is to have a mechanic diagnose the problem and check the fuel pressures and filter. Also make sure your air filter is clean and the inlet air tube is not cracked or loose.

Check these items, and if you still need assistance, contact a professional mechanic. A certified mobile mechanic from YourMechanic can visit your home or office to inspect your vehicle’s acceleration issues.

Hard starts and chugging in throttle response
ANSWER : Hello. If the vehicle is throwing a code for the throttle body, then it may be possible that it has failed. Your particular model of vehicle uses an electronic throttle body that is actuated by an electric motor controlled by the computer. If the motor or unit fails, it will disable the vehicle’s throttle. If your vehicle has over 200k, then it may be possible that the unit has failed due to normal wear and tear, and needs to be replaced. If you would like to have this checked, have a local expert, like one from YourMechanic, inspect the hard start problem and codes in person to determine the cause. A common mistake is replacing the part indicated by the code before thoroughly inspecting the system.

Is it bad when oil gets into the throttle body?
ANSWER : Hello,
I believe what you are describing is a problem with your PCV valve. A bit of oil in the throttle body is not going to harm your motor and is certainly not going to cause it to blow up. At an idle, the PCV valve restricts air flow, to reduce this problem. At high manifold vacuum (idle), a spring loaded valve is drawn up and partially restricts flow to the crankcase. The PCV system is relatively simple. An inlet hose connects to a filtered air source. This is used to supply clean air that is drawn through the engine. Most of the time this air is supplied through the engine air filter. On a few designs there is a separate inlet filter that cleans the incoming air for the PCV system only. This filtered air flows through the engine, picking up fumes and vapors. The air exits through another hose, connected to manifold vacuum. The flow of air draws fumes from the crankcase and burns them harmlessly in the engine. This also creates a slight vacuum, relieving any pressure that may build. Negative pressure helps to prevent oil leaks and oil consumption by the engine. The PCV valve also helps regulate the amount of air flow, which helps prevent oil being drawn out of the engine. When the PCV valve is not working correctly, this will cause an imbalance in air flow and vacuum causing the check engine light to come on. i would suggest having a professional from YourMechanic come to your location to take a look at your Jeep.

My Electronic Throttle Control light came on (blinks). I ordered and replaced the throttle body, but my results are the same.
ANSWER : Hi there:

Depending on what you’re symptoms might be, this issue might be with the electronic throttle control sensor attached to the throttle pedal as opposed to the throttle body. In order to know for certain, you should have a professional mechanic complete a check engine light inspection so they can download any trouble codes that might indicate what might be causing the issues you’re experiencing with your 2007 Dodge Durango.
