Got a code for a fuel vent valve

I am getting a trouble code for a Fuel Vent Valve, in addition to a driver information center alert of Check Gas Cap. I replaced the fuel purge valve and the solenoid, and the messages came back. When I replaced the part, it looked different, so I don't think it was the correct part. I've been told that problems like I am encountering happen when a vehicle runs out of gas.
Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
Issues with the fuel system can be caused by the car running out of fuel or even over-filling and "topping off" the fuel tank. If the part that was replaced with the OEM looks different, then it very well may be the wrong part. Also, if the sealing surface of either the gas cap or the fuel filler neck are damaged they will set EVAP codes. The charcoal canister vent solenoid can also causing a false small leak codes or other problem. A proper inspection should be performed by a qualified technician like the ones here at YourMechanic in order to diagnose such an issue.

What Does Cadillac CTS Code P0456 Mean? Cadillac CTS P0456 definition: Evaporative emission control system leak (small). Repair Urgency: Get this fixed within the next month to prevent drivability problems and excessive fuel consumption.
The P0455 diagnostic trouble code appears when there`s a leak in the Evaporative Emission Control (EVAP) system, and the system can`t maintain pressure. The EVAP system usually consists of five main components: the fuel tank, fuel cap, vent valve, purge valve, and the evaporative canister (or charcoal canister).
Code P0443 causes the check engine light to go on and this alone will cause a failed emission test. The code means the fuel vapor system control valve is defective or the circuit to it is not making the connection to the valve so the ECM lost control to the valve.
The P0455 OBD-II code means the engine computer has detected an Evaporative Emissions Control System (EVAP) Malfunction or, to be precise, a `Gross Leak Detected`. Basically, this means there is a large leak in the EVAP system.
When error code P0449 appears, this indicates that the EVAP system vent valve solenoid is malfunctioning which results in hydrocarbons being expelled into the atmosphere and occasionally about the cabin.
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0443 stands for Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve “A” Circuit. The code indicates that the PCM perceives a problem with the EVAP system purge valve or its control circuit.
Code P0420 relates to the catalyst system being inefficient, which is usually the cause of a catalytic converter failing or an oxygen sensor malfunctioning. Code P0455 relates to an EVAP system leak, which means that the vent control valve is likely damaged or not working properly.
Simply put, air will be allowed to enter the engine in a quantity that is not predicted by your car`s computer. This will change the car`s air to fuel ratio, and can cause rough idling (car feels rough and bouncy when the engine is running), as well as difficulty starting.
P0455 is a leak in the evaporative emissions system. This will not affect fuel economy, by the way. The most common evaporative emissions system failure is a loose gas cap! Ensure your gas cap is tight enough.
Yes, you are still safe to drive. The EVAP (Evaporated Emission Control System) is used to prevent gasoline vapors from escaping into the air from the fuel tank system to control greenhouse emissions.
What Does Code P0442 Mean? Engine code P0442 means a small leakage in the evaporative emission control system. It is not a critical problem, but it could be annoying and cause something more serious. We recommend addressing it as soon as possible to avoid further problems.

Installed new delphi fuel pump and fram fuel filter. still no pressure on fuel rail valve and wont start. 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe
ANSWER : Hi there – I suspect you have weak power getting to the fuel pump. I would first check the voltage coming out of the fuel pump relay. If the contacts in the relay are burned, you will not get reliable current flow to the pump. Check the fuel pump ground as well (voltage drop across the ground, not just continuity). I recommend a fuel system inspection performed by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, diagnose this problem, give you an accurate assessment of damage and cost estimate for repairs.

I have a 1981 e-350 with dual fuel tanks the p.o. added a third tank and 3 electric fuel pumps along with sepparate gauges and swi
ANSWER : The switch you are referring to is vended with the required electrical and fuel schematic (I just looked in the box) that answers your installation question. If you want an advance view, here is a link as well. Yes, you need a return line and just refer to the aforementioned link. If you are retrofitting back to OEM, I strongly encourage you to buy the original Factory Service Manual (FSM). There are lots of details attending this system and obviously it is difficult to recount it all here. The FSM will make your life much easier and you can then make sure your installation is perfect. Alternatively, YourMechanic can dispatch a certified mechanic and perform the whole retrofit and check out if you desire. Just request and schedule a generic service such as fuel pump service and the mechanic will come to your location and estimate the parts and labor required. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.

2010 Milan Hybrid Fuel tank Isolation Fuel Vapor Vent Valve Part of 9A228. Is this part of the Canister? or can you just replace t
ANSWER : Hi there. It depends on what’s causing the issue with the vehicle. If the valve itself is damaged, you should be able to just replace the valve. However, in most cases, problems with hybrid fuel tanks are caused by the canister itself. You might want to call Ford directly and get some input on this since it’s a Hybrid.

Fuel pressure
ANSWER : Hello,
You may want to try checking the fuel pump relay. The relay wires should have ground on two wires, power on one wire and switched power on another wire. To activate the fuel pump your ECU actually connects one of the ground wires to complete the circuit and send power to the fuel pump. If the wires all have power running through them, then it is likely you have a faulty relay. The wire coming from the fuel pump is the other ground wire. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location to diagnose your wiring as this can be very difficult and time consuming without the proper wiring diagram.

I had a p0405 get code replaced egr valve, map sensor, mad sensor, and PCv valve just to be safe but still getting the code why?
ANSWER : The code P0405 and a rough idle is most likely due to carbon getting into the EGR pintle. This will hold the EGR open. When you are getting the rough idle you should shut off engine and remove EGR valve. Check to see if carbon is holding the pintle open. If it is then you will have to remove the carbon from the pintle. Then try and clean out the EGR passages by scrapping them using a round wire brush. Afterwards, start the engine for a few seconds with valve removed to blow out loose carbon. You should then spray a small amount of carbon cleaner into the passages to dissolve the carbon. Lastly, reinstall the EGR and reset the light and codes.

If you’d like assistance with this, consider YourMechanic, as a certified professional can come to the vehicles locations to perform these checks and properly diagnose your Check Engine Light.

EVAP Vent valve solenoid code p0449
ANSWER : This suggests you may have a bad EVAP control module. A battery voltage is supplied to the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister vent solenoid valve. The control module grounds the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve control circuit to close the valve using an internal switch called a driver. The scan tool displays the commanded state of the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve as ON or OFF. The control module monitors the status of the driver. If the control module detects an incorrect voltage for the commanded state of the driver, this DTC sets. I would recommend having a professional from YourMechanic come to your location to take a look at your car to properly diagnose and repair.
