12volt battery

My car has 160000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
Hello. This can be caused by a number of things. I would start by having the engine battery tested. If it is low or dead then this will occur. If it is fine then there may be another issue with the engine. It is common for a failing fuel pump to cause this or a clogged or failed air intake tube. Both of these will cause this to occur. I typically start by checking fuel pressure and the intake tube for obstructions or looseness. Knowing if the engine is starting or not will help. If it is the battery then it needs to be replaced and the computer reset. If you want to have your check engine light diagnosed, consider using YourMechanic, as a certified mechanic can come to your home or office to diagnose this.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

P3190 description is nothing more than Poor Engine Power. While this seems pretty darn useless, once you look at what you need to check with this code, it becomes more clear what diagnostic path you need to go down. Air induction system malfunction. Defective throttle body.
A P3190 is defined as Poor Engine Power. While these codes seem vague, they are pretty helpful in the diagnostic process. The possible trouble areas for a P3190 are: Air induction system malfunction.
Common symptoms

Throttle body and electronic throttle body issues can result in the engine stalling, failing to start, warning lights on the instrument cluster, and hesitation or power surging on acceleration.

2015 Toyota PRIUS V (1.8L 4 -cyl Engine Code 2ZR-FXE 8) Motor Oil, Filters and Lubricants – AMSOIL.
Short answer: The diagnostic code P0A80 means that the hybrid battery is failing and needs to be replaced. Other codes may accompany P0A80 such as p3011, p3012, p3013 etc.
Prius Code P0A93: Inverter Water Pump Failure.
What Does Toyota Prius Code P0301 Mean? Toyota Prius P0301 definition: Cylinder 1 misfire detected. Issue Severity: SEVERE – Stop driving immediately. Repair Urgency: Fix this code immediately (same-day if possible) to avoid ignition failure, catalytic converter damage, and dangerous conditions.
Code P0420 indicates that the catalytic converter is not functioning efficiently, therefore increasing the output of harmful pollutants by the vehicle.
2008 Toyota PRIUS (1.5L 4 -cyl Engine Code 1NZ-FXE E) Motor Oil, Filters and Lubricants – AMSOIL.
Prius is a parallel hybrid meaning that if one of the components fails, the vehicle can still operate until it can be repaired properly. The short answer to this question is yes,the Toyota Prius can still drive if the hybrid battery fails. You will get poor fuel economy and a rougher drive from it though.
If your having intermittent warning lights and P0A93 code in the diagnostic history, its best to go ahead and get the pump replaced. This little water of pump of doom can actually make the Prius stall… while driving.
P1121 and P1122 error codes signify issues with the throttle position (TP) sensor and, in particular, indicate that the sensor attached to the circuit is reporting intermittent and inconsistent voltage.
The pump circuit is open (no power, shorted pump.) No matter what the reason, the inverter will overheat and cause your Prius to set a P0A93, Inverter Cooling System Performance DTC. Though the recall covered 2004-2007 Prius, these pumps can still fail on 2008 and 2009 years as well.
You are fine as long as it is from a cold-start. The risk is not so much the inverter/trans overheating as having the car die when the DC converter shuts down and the subsequent power demand on a weak 12V battery is too much.
Is it safe to drive with a P0301 code? You should not drive with a code P0301 set since a misfire can cause additional damage to your car. You should deal with the problem right away, taking the car to a mechanic. If the Check Engine Light is flashing, the car is dealing with severe cylinder misfiring.
The P0301 code means that cylinder 1 has a misfire and isn`t burning fuel properly. Bearing in mind that you need air, fuel and spark for combustion, the cause of a P0301 code could come from a few different sources. In any event, a P0301 code is serious and shouldn`t be put off.
A P0420 code is set when the upstream sensor and the downstream oxygen sensor sense the catalytic converter is not doing its job. Basically, the amount of oxygen going into the converter is not being burned, and it detects it through the downstream sensor.
The P0420 code signals a low catalyst system efficiency. This code suggests that the oxygen levels are below the desired threshold (Bank 1), which most often results from problems with your car`s exhaust or fuel systems.
The easiest way to reset your throttle position sensor is to unhook the negative cable from your battery for up to five minutes or to remove the fuse for your engine control module.
A malfunctioning TPS will cause your engine to run poorly. Generally the engine will idle fine but will have difficulty accelerating. This is because the computer isn`t telling the engine to inject as much fuel as is required, while at the same time airflow is increasing.
While throttle-body cleaning is good preventative car maintenance, it should also help engine drivability. In fact, if you`ve noticed a rough idle, stumbling initial acceleration or even stalling – all when the engine is fully warmed up – a dirty throttle body could be the culprit.
One of the main causes of a malfunctioning throttle body is internal contamination. Due to the contamination accumulated in the throttle body, the throttle valve can no longer move properly, causing problems with the control of the air supply.
Many Prius drivers have reported the most common cause for a red triangle of death light is an issue with their battery. Typically, the codes that come up after a diagnostic are P0A80 and P3000. The P300 code refers to the Prius` battery control system.
Find it in the lower corner of your windshield on the driver`s side. Your VIN number is your vehicle identification number and you can find your engine size by VIN number. In the series of numbers and letters, the tenth from the left denotes the model year and the eighth is the engine codes.

I have a Code P0601 on the PCM. I replaced the PCM, and now I have a code P0118, code P0123, and code P0193.
ANSWER : Hi there, the short answer to your question is no . A PCM with a P0601 (which is a memory module error in the PCM) cannot reliably retrieve codes for the codes you list (P0118 – coolant temp sensor, P0123 – throttle position sensor, P0193 – fuel rail pressure sensor.

Most likely, the P0601 prevents the PCM from getting any codes from the engine sensors. The memory module error may cause in data corruption for collected sensor values, lose of data over multiple sampling periods, or failure of the data collection to work at all. Replacing the PCM was a necessary expense.

If you need assistance with the "new" codes, I would recommend having a Check Engine Light inspection completed by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, to diagnose the new error codes and get an accurate assessment of the repairs needed.

Can i retrieve CEL code from car … forgot what code it hade in my car .. put headgasket sealer and i erase the code ..
ANSWER : Once a trouble code is erased, it cannot be retrieved. The engine controller does not have a "recycle bin" like they have on Windows. If the car still has a problem, the code will come back up after some driving. However, the controller will not turn on the CEL until it has seen the malfunction on two separate "trips." A "trip" is a driving cycle where the car is started cold, driven until it is fully warm and through a certain number of accelerations, and shut down. So you might not see the CEL for a couple of days. As for the "head gasket sealer," I wouldn’t hold out too much hope of that solving a problem. At the very best it might put off the symptoms for a short while. If you need help interpreting codes that come up, or solving a head gasket issue, contact Your Mechanic. They can send a technician to your home or office to read the codes on your car and help you decide what to do.

It threw a code 21 , throttle position sensor bad code. i replaced it and the code went away but i still have no spark.
ANSWER : Hello and thank you for contacting YourMechanic. The problems that you are encountering with your vehicle, could be caused by the harness to the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) or the computer itself.

Check the harness to the TPS for any debris or any corrosion. Hook up a paperclip to the harness and turn on the key. Use a multimeter and check for voltage at the pins of the harness. Make sure that the ground on the sensor is grounded and has no resistance. If you find that the harness is having too much resistance, then I recommend having the main engine harness replaced. If you have replaced the harness and still have the same problems, then the computer will need to be flashed or replaced.

I recommend having a professional, like one from YourMechanic, come to your home to diagnose your car’s no start condition before replacing any parts.

Service engine warning, MAF code and O2 sensor code, along with check suspension light are turned on
ANSWER : Hello, it sounds like you have quite a few things going on. I am going to do my best to break them down for you.

First if the engine is very loud when idling and the belt has already been replaced, there may be an issue with the tensioner or idler pulley.
Next, the Navigator is known for needing service to the air suspension system as it gets up in miles, the most common causes of these are the air struts themselves have failed, or one of the air lines has a leak.
Lastly, if the O2 sensor and MAF are continually coming back after the sensors have been replaced, the most common cause would be either an exhaust leak or a vacuum leak.

Qualified technicians such as the ones at YourMechanic will be able to diagnose these issues and recommend the best path to repair, starting with a diagnosis of your warning lights.

EGR code, Cylinder 4 misfire code 0304 detected.
ANSWER : Hi there. The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve may be not designed for the emissions requirements for U.S. standards. If the EGR is pulling from cylinder number 4 and after replacing the EGR and the computer detects a misfire, then the EGR is malfunctioning and not responding. When you close off the tube to the EGR and the EGR light comes on and the misfire light goes out, then the EGR is not responding to your emissions system. I recommend replacing the EGR with the OEM specified part for the engine and all of the issues should go away. If you need further assistance with your misfire and EGR, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

Check Engine Light codes. 2006 Mercedes Benz E55 AMG
ANSWER : Since you are getting many different codes from different areas of the engine, you may need to have the system hooked up to a factory scanner since most of these generic codes do not cross over in my repair software. I would also check with the local dealer to see if any service campaigns are open on the vehicle since there are over 30 possible campaigns that could pertain to this vehicle and some of the problems you are having with the secondary air system. This may be the cause of some of the codes and supercharger disabling. If you’d like to have this checked elsewhere, a qualified pro from YourMechanic can come to your car’s location to go through each Check Engine Light code firsthand and have them resolved.
