The first thing to do is to replace the battery since you did not mention you replaced the battery. Once battery is replaced and making sure battery connections are clean and tight then check operation of the remote. Then if it still does not work then try reprogramming it. If it still does not work then you will need to have a mechanic like one from YourMechanic scan and test the body control module for problems. You may have a module or remote problems.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced mechanics :

This usually happens because of low batteries, but shock can also cause the fob to lose its pairing. Most remotes can be reset, so check your car`s user manual for the resetting sequence. If resetting fails to solve the problem, the fob will need to be reprogrammed.
Test your key fob to make sure it`s working properly. If your vehicle doesn`t respond, open the case again and readjust the battery, making sure the connections are clean and they`re making contact with the battery. If the key fob still doesn`t work, you may need to reprogram your Toyota key fob.
If you`re experiencing issues with your remote start after changing the battery, it`s possible that the coolant temperature in your vehicle is too high or the oil pressure is too low. If this is the case, then your remote starter system will be disabled.
Check and replace the key fob battery as needed. Take the key fob apart and check for broken contacts or misaligned buttons. Reprogram your remote yourself or have a professional do it. Replace your remote if necessary.
Purchasing a remote directly from Toyota will save you the time of reprogramming the remote yourself, but going the DIY route will save you money if you learn how to program a Toyota key fob yourself. Fortunately, the process is fairly quick and easy. Don`t get stranded in Evergreen Park without a working key!
Answer: Please bring two ignition keys that will both start the vehicle. Many of the interface modules require two keys for programming.

Oil leaking from under car and "remote control car" sound when car is first started for a few minutes until it warm up.
ANSWER : Hello,
There are a number of things that could make an engine noisy when starting up. Depending on the specific type of sound you are referring to, this will determine how to properly diagnose. If there is a bit of a hissing sound, this may be a sign of a vacuum leak. If this is more of a shrieking sound, this may be a sign of a worn out or out of adjustment serpentine belt. If there is a bit of a howling or growling sound, this may be a sign of a worn out or low on fluid power steering pump. A rattling or pinging sound may be caused by an ignition problem. An engine can ping (or knock) due to an improper combustion process. A "spark knock" is the result of combustion occurring too early. Early combustion can occur from carbon buildup inside the combustion chamber, a lean air/fuel mixture, and advanced ignition timing (spark plug firing too soon). A clattering type sound may be a result of improper lubrication in the valve train which could be a more serious problem and should be addressed as soon as possible. I would suggest having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location to diagnose and inspect your vehicle to ensure everything is in proper working order.

My dash board don’t work my front light work when I change my light into high beam and my back window won’t go down
ANSWER : As unfortunate as it is, your vehicle would be considered flood damaged. Diagnosing electrical problems in a flood damaged vehicle is nearly impossible. This would take many hours or even days to determine which wiring harnesses and circuits have been affected. Then nearly all of the wiring under the dash would likely require replacement as well as many sensors and switches. On a BMW vehicle, the amount of wires and switches are likely more than that of a lower end vehicle. Due to the inefficiency in cost, you would likely be able to purchase another BMW like yours for less than what it would cost to fix your car. Many insurance companies would consider this type of damage to total out the vehicle unfortuantely.

My car alarm does not work, the remote won’t turn the alarm off
ANSWER : Hi, thanks for writing in. This could be one of two issues: a weak battery in your key fob or a faulty key fob as a whole. I would recommend changing the battery in the fob and see if the alarm function works properly. You can find key fob batteries at your local auto parts store. If this is not the issue, I would order a new remote. Another common issue I have found is that when a key fob gets wet, over time the internals will corrode. Sometimes you can take apart your key fob and remove the corrosion with a small wire brush.

In a keyless entry car, can you also have an alarm say auto watch alarm system installed?
ANSWER : Hello. From what you describe it would appear that the aftermarket alarm system may be having an issue. If the alarm has done this since it was installed then it may be possible that it is wired improperly, or that there is an issue with the alarm system control module. It may be possible that the two alarm systems are interfering with each other somehow, perhaps due to an issue with the transponders or remotes. I would recommend referring to the alarm system manufacturer, or the shop or technician that installed the alarm for more specific support or instructions.

How long can a car run like when driving back and forth from work when battery saver mode is on? I plan to have it checked after w
ANSWER : The primary function of the battery is to start the vehicle. Once it is running, the alternator provides the electrical needs of the engine, lights, radio, heater, etc. If the alternator is faulty and not producing power, these systems will draw power from the battery. Since the battery can’t recharge itself – the alternator keeps it charged – the battery will eventually die and the vehicle will shut down. It is difficult to predict how long the vehicle will run on battery power alone. Everything you use – lights, signals, heater, wipers, etc – will all draw more power from the battery and drain it quickly. Cold temperatures will also shorten the amount of time the battery will last under those conditions. The vehicle may run for mere minutes, or maybe an hour or more.

I put the wrong key in my car and a few weeks later my car just shut down and it will not start I believe it’s the computer but…
ANSWER : Hi there. What had happened is the wrong key set the security to the vehicle. This is to prevent the vehicle from starting with the wrong keys. Try removing the battery cables (+) and (-) for 13 minutes. During that time, put the original key in the ignition and turn it on. Activate everything in the car even though there is no power. Then remove the key and hook up the battery cables. The computer should have reset and reset the security. If the security is still being tripped, then I recommend seeking out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you

My car cooling fan works for a few seconds when I turn the car off, not on when the car’s on. Is the temperature sensor bad?
ANSWER : If it doesn’t run for more than about a minute, that could be a normal situation. The fan is triggered by temperature at the cylinder head, and when the engine is off and the coolant isn’t circulating, the heat rises to the top of the engine. If the car is fully warmed up and it’s a hot day outside, the fan may come on for a short time when the car is off. If it runs on and on, it may be a different matter and you will want to have it checked out.
The leak, should concern you. Left to themselves, things always go from bad to worse and it could get worse at a very inconvenient time. If you contact Your Mechanic, they can send a technician to your home or office to check out your Honda and let you know what can be done for it.
