Just left the shop with my car. I took my car to a body shop for a new front bumper and now my rear window defrost doesnt work

My car has 37347 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
Hello. The fact that you just had the bumper repaired should not have anything to do with the bumper being repaired, though anything is possible. During the repairs it is possible that the shop caused a fuse to blow or caused other issues with the vehicle. You should take it back to that shop if this occurred right after they worked on it.

Reasons your rear defroster doesn`t work. While front defroster problems are often caused by issues with the cooling or HVAC systems, a problem with your rear defroster can usually be traced to a faulty electrical component. This could be: The rear defroster fuse, switch, relay and wiring.
Fixing the rear windshield is a labour-intensive process and best left to professionals. That said, replacing or repairing a rear defogger isn`t a time-consuming affair as it can be done by professionals at the service centre in an hour or two.
It is a device that removes the condensed water droplets or ice from the main windscreen, side windows and rear windscreen of a vehicle. Its main function is to clear the windscreen of condensed water thereby improving visibility. This device is also known as `defroster` or `demister`.
There are a number of possible causes for a rear window heater not working, including a blown fuse , a broken or chafed wire, a faulty switch , a damaged heater element or a bad earth connection. Rear window heaters fitted by manufacturers are printed on to the surface of the glass or stuck on with special adhesive.
Bad news: A new rear window can be more than $400, including installation. Good news: You can fix it yourself for less than 10 bucks. Really. Start by going to the auto parts store and picking up a rear-window defroster-grid repair kit and/or a defroster tab repair kit, depending on the damage you need to fix.
You can switch on AC to reduce the moisture content in the air. Turning on the heater can also defog the rear window. Open the windows to allow fresh air inside the cabin, and you will see the fog disappearing from the rear windshield.
The rear window defogger is actuated by a manual switch. The switch is usually located somewhere on the dash panel.
Damaged, blocked or clogged condenser

Like a radiator, it removes heat from the refrigerant, cooling it before it returns to the system. If it is damaged, clogged inside, or blocked on the outside with debris, it won`t sufficiently cool the refrigerant.

A defogger, demister, or defroster is a system to clear condensation and thaw frost from the windshield, backglass, or side windows of a motor vehicle. The rear window defroster was invented by German automobile engineer Heinz Kunert.
Rear window heaters fitted by manufacturers are printed on to the surface of the glass or stuck on with special adhesive. Small breaks in an element can be repaired with special conducting paint. One of the most common and simple problems is a blown fuse.
What the defrost indicator light means. Whenever the light is illuminated, the defroster is turned on. The symbol for the front is a curved window, while the rear is rectangular. While you are defogging the windshield, you may not be able to get air out of the normal vents.
While a front windshield defroster blows air on the window to defrost it, a rear window defroster is made up of a metal grid that is attached to the glass with a special resin.
Use engine temperature

Make sure the engine temperature is around 90 degrees celsius. This will allow the car`s windshield to defog quickly and properly.

Crank up the AC

The first thing you must do is gain some immediate visibility by wiping it with a lint-free cloth. You can then proceed to turn your car`s AC to a colder temperature to match the temperature on the outside. This will cause the fog to vanish and is one of the best tips to defog car during rain.

How to tell if a thermal fuse has blown? To test if your thermal fuse has blown, touch the right side of your multimeter lead to the right side of the fuse, and repeat with the left multimeter lead. If the multimeter needle fails to move, this indicates the thermal fuse has blown. Learn about testing for a blown fuse.
The big surprise about defrosters is the system that drives it… the air conditioner. It is your air conditioner that helps to get the moisture out of the air (and off the windshield). When you turn the defrost on, it`s your air conditioner that kicks in to help get all that moisture out.
Rear window defrosters use a lot of electrical power and if they would be left on continuously they might prevent your battery from charging.
If you`re finding it takes a longer time than you`d expect, the culprit is often your cabin air filter. This is true for all models of vehicles. In order for the maximum amount of heat to pass from the engine compartment, through your vents, and onto the windshield, the system must be free from obstruction.
A thermal fuse will blow when the temperature gets too high, not when it`s drawing too much current. When it blows, the dryer stops generating heat. It`s necessary to replace it before the dryer will run again. The thermal fuse is different from the thermal cutoff.
The front defogger works by channeling warm air through vents aimed directly at your windshield. The rear defogger works by electrical currents through black fibers running through your rear windshield. Both end up serving the same purpose while operating differently.
is that defog is to remove the moisture or fog from while defrost is to remove frost from.
First, find the timer in the refrigerator and put your screwdriver in the small gap below the timer. Next, turn the timer anticlockwise slowly until you hear a tick. After that, the fan will stop working, meaning that the defrost button has been reset.
The more moisture you have in the car, the harder it will be to defrost. In cold weather, you need to be on outside air, it is drier than inside air. The cold outside air holds very little moisture, even when its relative humidity (RH) is very high.

My RPassenger window did not work. I had it fixed. shortly after neither of my rear windows will work from the or the front and
ANSWER : Hi there. Usually when both window switches do not work it is due to an electrical fault with the primary control module. There is a center module that relays all electricity from switches to individual window drive motors to open and close. When more than one switch doesn’t appear to be working, it typically due to an issue with that center window control module or electrical relay powering the system. It would be a good idea to have a professional mechanic come to your location and complete a window not working inspection to determine precisely what is causing this issue before attempting any further repairs.

Why doesn’t my rear window defogger work after i had my bumper fixed on my 2014 Toyota Camry
ANSWER : Hello. The fact that you just had the bumper repaired should not have anything to do with the bumper being repaired, though anything is possible. During the repairs it is possible that the shop caused a fuse to blow or caused other issues with the vehicle. You should take it back to that shop if this occurred right after they worked on it.

I have a 2002 toyota camry LE engine wich i want to use on a 2004 toyota camry XLE .is my 02 toyota camry engine compatible ?
ANSWER : Hi there. Assuming that both engines are the same size, the compatibility of "fitting" should be OK. However, since this is a service we don’t offer, we’re not best suited to provide the best advice on this. I can tell you that a common problem have with replacing motors is communication with the ECU. In most cases, it will require reprogramming by a specialist in order for all the systems to work correctly.

My passenger side window doesn’t work. Put in a new regulator that wasn’t the problem. The window doesn’t go up or down from the
ANSWER : Hi there. It’s possible that an electrical relay is damaged or you have a shorted electrical wire or faulty ground wire that is causing this issue with your motor. It’s also possible that a mechanical arm inside the passenger side door is bent. Before you start replacing more parts, it’s probably a better idea to have a professional mechanic complete a power window not working inspection, so they can pinpoint the source and recommend the right repairs.

My dash board don’t work my front light work when I change my light into high beam and my back window won’t go down
ANSWER : As unfortunate as it is, your vehicle would be considered flood damaged. Diagnosing electrical problems in a flood damaged vehicle is nearly impossible. This would take many hours or even days to determine which wiring harnesses and circuits have been affected. Then nearly all of the wiring under the dash would likely require replacement as well as many sensors and switches. On a BMW vehicle, the amount of wires and switches are likely more than that of a lower end vehicle. Due to the inefficiency in cost, you would likely be able to purchase another BMW like yours for less than what it would cost to fix your car. Many insurance companies would consider this type of damage to total out the vehicle unfortuantely.

Used a quick fix for my broken power window: hold switch up and slam door. What might need replacing if it worked for me?
ANSWER : Hi there. In most cases, the quick fix that you learned online will lead you to knowing what component was damaged. In this case, if you press a window switch and slam the door, it will shake or rattle the connections to the switch and "magically" roll the window up. As such, the problem is most likely either the individual motor on that window or the switch relay to that window. It’s probably a better idea to have one of our mobile mechanics come to your location and complete a window does not work inspection, so they can inspect your car and determine exactly what needs to be repaired.

Left rear passenger door Window and Lock do not work at all.
ANSWER : The window motors are a common failure. Sometimes the cable in the regulator can come off track and wrap around the gear on the motor and do some damage. As far as the door lock you may have an actuator failing. Many of the door locks on VWs and Audis were air powered, but your concerns sounds like it’s electrical. Consider hiring an experienced technician like one from YourMechanic who can come out and take a closer look and your electrical concerns and offer a more personal diagnosis.

I just replaced the front passenger window regulator and motor and it works but only when i am using the rear passenger switch
ANSWER : Your Audi uses a window control module to operate the windows. The switches send a command to the module, and the module sends the power to the window motors. I’ve seen the modules do some screwy things, especially when the battery voltage gets low, but I wouldn’t run out and buy a module just yet. It may be possible to communicate with it with the right software and there might be some re-set that can be done. If you contact Your Mechanic, they can send a technician to your home or office to check out your spooky windows and tell you whether you need a new module or something else.
