Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the run position while pressing down the “UNLOCK” button on the driver`s door. On your key fob, press and release the “UNLOCK” button and “PANIC” button on your key at the same time. Press and release the “UNLOCK” and “LOCK” buttons on your key fob at the same time.
Dodge Challenger – The PCM for the Challenger is located under the hood on the passenger side, near the cowl (the front part of the vehicle`s frame that supports the rear of the hood).
Lighting control modules control the brightness of individual lights using pulse-width modulated (PWM) signals that typically turn the light on and off at a frequency of about 200 Hz. Once the lights are activated, they may remain powered on for a certain amount of time and then dim until powered off.
What happens when you reset an ECU? By resetting the Engine Control Module, you can return your car to its factory settings. This will erase any error codes or radio stations that were stored in the car`s memory. Furthermore, it also affects the car`s performance for a while, until it adapts to your driving style.
Check the voltage of the battery in the PCM using a multimeter. Set the multimeter to DC volts and connect its probes to the battery terminals. The reading should be around 12V. If it is lower than 10V, then check for any loose connections or other issues with the power supply before proceeding further.
Differences between ECM and PCM

ECMs are in charge of regulating the engine. PCMs are in charge of controlling the powertrain. Engine control modules (ECMs) continually monitor engine characteristics and make modifications to guarantee peak performance.

It will most likely be under the hood of your vehicle where your main fuse panel is located. However, it may be located inside the cab of the vehicle if you vehicle is equipped with an interior fuse box.
Taillights are the red lights on the rear of your car that turn on automatically whenever your headlights are on. They let drivers coming up behind you know that you`re there and how far ahead you are.
As per the Highway Code, you must use dipped headlights “when visibility is seriously reduced”, i.e., when you are able to see less than 100m in front of you. So basically, any time you`re driving at night or during bad weather.
Can I install LED headlights in my car? You can, but you`ll need to make sure they aren`t too bright for other drivers. There are some significant benefits to choosing LED bulbs — they last much longer than traditional bulbs and they use a lot less energy, so many drivers want to take advantage of those benefits.
The most important car lights are headlights. The two types of headlights are low beam and high beam, which allow drivers to see the road in the dark and make themselves visible to other motorists. Other car lights include DRLs, sidelights, and fog lights.
The first, the lens optics headlight, is designed so that the filament in the light bulb is placed at or near the focus of a reflector. In these, prism optics molded in the lens refract the light, which spreads it upward and forward to provide the light desired.
Also called general lighting, ambient lighting provides overall illumination for a room, and is intended to create a uniform light level throughout a space, independent of any special lighting that may be needed in targeted areas of a room.
Disconnecting your battery and draining the power to cause an ECU reset is one of the most common fixes for a check engine light that won`t go away on its own. Doing so is equivalent to a hard reboot on a desktop computer, which is a standard way to eliminate many common problems.
A damaged ECU can cause problems when shifting gears in an automatic transmission, or cause sudden jerking or stopping that`s similar to transmission problems.
It can be difficult to manually turn off your car`s anti-theft system if you don`t have a key fob, but it is achievable. If there are no obvious little buttons or levers on the ignition cylinder that could disarm the device, try gently wiggling the key inside the cylinder; this might be enough to do it.
The Primary purpose of OBD Scanner is to provide data on Performance checks on the car – using data from engine and transmission and finding in faults. However – resetting ECU is not something which OBD Scanners are capable of.
PCMs are built with microchips that can be reprogrammed electronically without being removed from the vehicle. Reflashing is a process where you electronically transfer approved files from a vehicle manufacturer`s website using a diagnostic connector. This process has many names.
One way to see if the data is making its way to the ECM is to look at the data PIDs using your scan tool. We can get an idea of the accuracy of the information by changing the engine`s state and seeing if the data PID changes in response, or by comparing the data to another sensor to see if the two are in alignment.
The throttle position, coolant temperature and air flow sensors relay input data to the PCM. The PCM uses that data to calculate actuator outputs like spark advance, fuel injector pulse width and idle speed.
All the electrical systems in your car, including the headlights, are protected with fuses. These are designed to `blow` and break the circuit if too much power comes through them. This protects all the components on the circuit.
Five Star Dual Headlamp Relay, Voltage: 12 V.
The data from the sensors are interpreted by an electronic control unit (ECU), which determines the vehicle`s speed, and the angle and length of the curve it is negotiating. The ECU then directs the motors attached to each headlight to move the beam to a specified degree for optimal lighting potential.

Dome lights will not turn on when door opened, radio will not turn off when car is off and door is opened.
ANSWER : Hello, thank you for writing in. The vehicle is likely having issues with the door switch which activates/shuts down both circuits. This is going to look like a peg in the door frame next to the hinge. The peg that is designed to make contact with the switch behind it may be at fault, or the switch itself may be faulty. It is best considering the circumstances that you replace the entire unit, as they are typically sold as an assembly. It is a rather straight forward repair if you are looking to do it yourself. Simply remove the old switch and reconnect it to the new one. Make sure to unplug the battery before hand. With that said, you can also contact our service department to schedule an appointment, and we can resolve the issue for you.

steering wheel won’t unlock my key turns only to turn lights on but that’s it can’t unlock steering wheel to start the car what to
ANSWER : The steering lock may not be unlocking either due to a faulty ignition lock housing or more commonly as the cars age a faulty spring at the steering wheel on the under side of the column. If the ignition lock housing is the issue the housing can be replaced. It s a bit tricky as the mounting bolt has break off heads and generally need to be driven out with a punch. If the lock is not disengaging because of a faulty spring on the ignition lock many owners have had the spring removed by having it drilled out of the housing. However, removing the spring may permanently disable the steering lock. The last option would be to replace the steering column. You may want to enlist the help of a mechanic who can recommend the proper repair for your situation.

As I’m driving, all my lights inside/out of the car turn off and the car still stays on. But when I turn the car off it won’t turn over
ANSWER : Hello there. The charging system on the car may not be charging the battery as you drive and the systems that keep the engine running are priority so the engine will stay running until the voltage drops below about 9 volts but the lighting and some other accessories may cut off above this voltage first. You should have the charging system tested to see if the alternator needs to be replaced.

After unlocking the car from the drivers side, if the passenger door is opened before the key is put in the car the alarm goes off.
ANSWER : The key should only unlock the driver door with one turn and unlock all of the doors with two turns. If the passenger door is unlocking when the driver door is turned with one turn or if the alarm is still set if the driver door is turned two times, then the Immobilizer System Module needs replaced if you are intending on not using a key fob or you will need to get a key fob to manually turn off the Immobilizer System Module.
