These are all very different vehicles that offer uniquely different models and options. As you may know, the maintenance costs associated with any used car will depend heavily on how well the car was maintained by the previous owner and the conditions the vehicle is subjected to. When considering an SUV, you will also want to take note of the noticeable signs of off road use as this is typically much harder on vehicles than the every day use driving on paved roads. Assuming you are looking for an off road vehicle by the choices you are considering, you may find the following article in gaining some insight as to the capabilities of SUV’s in this particular class of vehicles. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location when you decide to purchase to perform a pre-purchase inspection to be sure you are aware of any potential issues prior to buying the vehicle.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Finally, BMWs are great first cars because they`re fun to drive. They handle well and have a lot of power, making them a blast to drive on the open road. But all that comes at a cost, both in terms of the initial price and the cost of ownership. Maintenance and repairs can be costly, and insurance rates can be high.
New cars come with the latest safety features and are very likely to be reliable, though they can come with a higher price tag and higher insurance costs. Used cars are generally cheaper because the high depreciation of their early years is already behind them and you may not need as much insurance coverage.
According to the IIHS, which is funded by the insurance industry, Toyota and Lexus rack up the most awards, followed by Honda and Acura. Mazda comes in next. Both small SUVs and midsized luxury SUVs take home the most wins, although the list includes vehicles of all types. A Rivian R1T after a front offset crash test.
Better interest rates: With a new car purchase, you are also more likely to get a better interest rate on an auto loan than you would with a used car purchase, often by a few percentage points. Reliability: You won`t have to contend with any potential hidden mechanical problems when you buy new.
Many car owners make the mistake of assuming that they need to replace their vehicles every few years. The average age of a vehicle on the road is about 11 years, but most drivers keep a car for about six years. Here are some factors to consider when deciding if it`s time for a newer model.
Check your mileage

A car with over 100,000 miles on the clock is going to start costing more to run each year. There are exceptions, of course, and much will depend on how the car has been maintained and the kind of driving you do, but when you hit 100,000 miles it`s usually time to think of a change.

If you want the smoothest and safest ride of your life, Mercedes is your best bet. Depending on your budget, a BMW may be cheaper to buy initially but can get more expensive to maintain and insure.
BMWs are known for their excellent build quality. Many other brands tend to cut corners on things like paintwork, interior materials, and dashboard design in order to save money. BMWs don`t do this – and won`t ever do this – they make sure everything has a premium look and feel, inside and out.
Why are used BMWs so cheap? They cost a lot to repair, the market is oversaturated, they have low residual value, and they are competing against new BMW pricing incentives. BMWs might be affordable in their used state, but that doesn`t mean they`re worth the investment.
Consequently, a car that`s between two and three years of age is often considered to be the best in terms of both longevity and price. Once used cars get to about four, five or six years of age, they`re not much cheaper than three-year-old models – depending on the mileage on the clock, of course.

ANSWER : There are many brands of starters on the market. I would only recommend the dealer starter as the best. You may find aftermarket starters to be rebuilt and the dealer new would be better in most cases. The aftermarket ones may give you lifetime warranties. This does not make them better but a better warranty.

I filled my car up with gas, drove about a block to get a newspaper, put it in park and it died before i ever got out of the car .
ANSWER : With a car that cranks but won’t start, there are a few things that need to be checked. But before I explain them, there is a common thing that happens with Nissan’s. Every once in awhile they will flood the cylinders with fuel and wash the oil film off the cylinder walls and rings. This will reduce compression enough that the car will not start. Fortunately, there is an easy fix for this problem. It is what is known as clear flooding.

Hold the gas pedal all the way to the floor while cranking the motor. It won’t start immediately and when it does it will not run very well at first. Feather the throttle to keep it running until the motor clears out the excess fuel and the motor begins to run smoothly. If after cranking the motor with the gas pedal held to the floor for at least

My car will be starting perfect and when the gas tank gets lower it will start having problems .
ANSWER : Based on the information you gave, it sounds like a possible fuel starvation issue, caused by a partially blocked, in-tank fuel filter or a crack in the fuel pump housing. The remedy would be to replace the fuel pump assembly and filter. The overheating may be caused by several things, including a stuck thermostat, faulty water pump, or even a cracked head gasket. I suggest having a certified technician, like one from YourMechanic, inspect the relevant systems to pinpoint the cause of your vehicle’s hard starting issue and overheating problem.

My car has smoke damage inside somebody tried to steal it and try to burn the car how much does it cost to get a car cleaned out f
ANSWER : Hello, thank you for writing in. Your situation is incredibly unfortunate! Hopefully insurance will help pay for the damages. Pricing is going to vary greatly depending on your location. You are going to want to gather a couple of quotes and compare pricing. The damage done, and the kind of help you have in your area will all effect pricing. If the majority of the damage is inside of the cab, you are looking at having the interior redone. Seats, flooring, electrical components, door panels, window seals, and whatever else would have been damaged will be priced individually for the most part. If engine damage has been done, you will have to do a full diagnosis before obtaining a quote. For more help, or a quote from our technicians, contact our service department to schedule an appointment.

Power steering loss, no belts are turning but the car is running fine. I also have a soft pedal. Whats wrong with my car?
ANSWER : I have only seen this situation once in my 30+ years and it turned out to be a broken crankshaft pulley. Belts are driven by the engine. The crankshaft pulley spins the belts, which in turn spin the air conditioner compressor, power steering and water pumps, and the alternator. The vehicle should be towed to your local repair shop and not driven. Without the water pump spinning to circulate the coolant, the engine will quickly overheat and result in more extensive damage.

Only get heat when i rev up my car or push the gas. Other tham that i only get cold air coming out.
ANSWER : You may have a clogged heater core that may be prohibiting the outer linings of the heater core to get hot. As you know, the heater core is a series of tubes that the coolant runs through that generates the heat from the warm coolant after circulating through the motor. These tubes can occasionally develop a buildup on the inner walls such that when the heater core is "flushed" this buildup on the inner walls of the lines remains and still allows the coolant to flow through the heater core. It is important to note that when the heater core is "flushed" it is possible to get good flow through the heater core while the inside walls of the heater core remain caked with buildup. As a result, the buildup on the inner walls prevents the temperature from rising to its capability due to the insulating effect of this buildup on the inner walls which will prevent the necessary heat transfer to properly heat the inside of the car. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location to diagnose and replace your heater core.

Can I ride my car with a bad oil pan for at least a month until Ican get the MONEY TO GET IT FIXED
ANSWER : Hello. If the mechanic at your garage is telling you that the oil leak is severe, I would highly recommend replacing that as soon as possible and not to drive your vehicle until it has been fixed. Leaking oil from a cracked or damaged oil pan or rear seal can increase due to heat and excessive driving. It also will cause internal component damage as the engine will rapidly loose oil pressure and lubrication. An oil leak from the pan is one that should be resolved ASAP and without further driving if possible.
