What are all the parts that go with fuel pump replacement. Strainer, sending unit, gaskets, Orings, plate of some sort.
I need to know All the parts that go with the replacement of fuel pump. Like a strainer, sending unit, gaskets, Orings, some plate? I have found kits online and compared to the in store purchase completly different. Had others look and don't know either.! The pump and tank were removed and it was bad was told what to order online but cannot find exact match in a store. Trying to get done before Monday. Or close to it. The car sat for 3 years. Thanks for any info given
My car has an automatic transmission.

Unless you purchase a new one from a dealer you may not get kits that look like the factory one. If the new can still be purchased. You should go with the kit that comes with the strainer, pump, hose and clamps along with wire connections.
How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

The complete fuel pump assembly might include a fuel gauge sending unit, a pressure regulator valve, a fuel tank pressure sensor, a pump intake strainer and/or the main fuel system filter, and of course the electric fuel pump. An electric fuel pump consists of two parts: a small brush-type DC motor and the pump itself.
A fuel pump draws petrol out of the tank through a pipe to the carburettor . The pump may be mechanical worked by the engine – or it may be electric, in which case it is usually next to or even inside the fuel tank .

While each type of fuel pump works a little differently, they all serve the same purpose—to move fuel through the system and into the combustion chamber. The three types of fuel pumps we`re covering today are: the rotary pump, the inline pump, and the high-pressure common rail pump.
Before removing the fuel pump, clean the area around it to prevent dirt and debris from falling into the fuel tank. Replace fuel pump components: When replacing the fuel pump, consider replacing related components such as the fuel filter, fuel pump strainer, and fuel tank O-ring or gasket.
The fuel system is made up of the fuel tank, pump, filter and injectors or carburetor, and is responsible for delivering fuel to the engine as needed.
The fuel pump relay is controlled by the PCM by providing the relay with a ground. The PCM chooses to turn the relay on when it sees the motor is running. If the PCM doesn`t see an indication of the motor running, it will not supply a ground path to the relay and the fuel pump will not receive power.
Fuel pump module is in the gas tank. The term is for the pump/sender and hanger for the pump. It sounds confusing to call it a module as if it is a computer component but it is simply the assembly you remove from the fuel tank when replacing the fuel pump. 10 people think this is helpful.
Electric pumps In fuel-injected petrol engines, an electric fuel pump is typically located inside the fuel tank.
When you replace a fuel pump, you should also install a new fuel filter. (Here`s how to change a fuel filter in four easy steps.) Check the fuel line running from the fuel tank to the pump, and replace it if it`s cracked or leaking. If you replace the fuel line, you should also install a new hose.
A bad fuel pump may overheat and inadequately deliver gas to the engine, causing it to run hot and turn off while on the road. In this scenario, your vehicle may start back up after overheating and shutting down, only to do the same thing a half-hour later. This scenario is a common sign of a bad fuel pump.
In extreme driving conditions, multiple fuel pumps are often better than one. High horsepower applications often demand a higher volume of fuel and/or pressure and using two fuel pumps ensures the engine is always supplied with enough fuel at the correct pressure.
The fuel pump assembly in a vehicle is responsible for sending the required amount of fuel at the right pressure and time to the engine. The assembly consists of a few key parts such as the screen filter, fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator.
Most fuel pumps are located inside the fuel tank, and are part of a module assembly that includes the fuel level sending unit and float.

Today`s newer cars typically include the fuel filter as part of the fuel pump assembly – and you`ll need to replace it every 5 years or around 30-50k miles.

What are all the parts that go with fuel pump replacement. Strainer, sending unit, gaskets, Orings, plate of some sort.

Just replaced my fuel pump but its not getting any power tested fuel pump relay and fuel fuse both good tested the wires all good.
ANSWER : You need to look at the theft light on dash to make sure it comes on and goes off when you turn the key to the on position. If light comes on and stays on then your theft system is causing the fuel pump to not be engaged. I recommend you check the theft system and then scan the computer for theft system codes. You may need to reprogram the keys to work or you have an bad sensor for the ignition key in the steering column.
Replaced fuel pump. Car won’t start. 2002 Infinity I35
ANSWER : Hi there – the metal component you describe is a fuel check valve on the fuel return line. Its function is to maintain a small amount of pressure in the fuel system so that starting does not require the fuel pump to run very long before the engine will start. Having replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter, I would check fuel pressure while the car is running. This is to check the fuel pump relay for burned contacts that won’t support full electrical current to the pump, and for proper fuel pressure – a malfunctioning fuel pressure regulator could also restrict power and higher speeds if pressure is too low. I would recommend an inspection of the fuel system by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, diagnose this problem, give you an accurate assessment of damage and cost estimate for repairs.
Fuel pressure
ANSWER : Hello,
You may want to try checking the fuel pump relay. The relay wires should have ground on two wires, power on one wire and switched power on another wire. To activate the fuel pump your ECU actually connects one of the ground wires to complete the circuit and send power to the fuel pump. If the wires all have power running through them, then it is likely you have a faulty relay. The wire coming from the fuel pump is the other ground wire. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location to diagnose your wiring as this can be very difficult and time consuming without the proper wiring diagram.
Engine crank, no coil spark, fuel pump does not kick in.
ANSWER : Hi there. There could be multiple issues causing your lack of spark problem, ranging from a minor electrical short in the main relay to an issue with your ECU. In order to know for sure, you should have a professional mobile mechanic complete an electrical problems inspection.
Replaced fuel pressure regulator and fuel pump, still no power going to fuel pump
ANSWER : This sounds like you may not have any power going to the fuel pump relay. Can 1 man replace a fuel pump and sending unit, clean out sludge and particles from fuel tank in about 1 hour? Think I was scammed
ANSWER : To drop the fuel tank on your model, and immediately re-install the tank (without any cleaning or service) would require about 2 to 3 hours in total for an experienced professional if a lift is available. The fuel pump itself can be installed without removing the tank but to do that you must have access to the inside of the car because the pump is removed through an access panel under the rear seat. Also, you can’t drop the tank without access to the inside of the car because to drop the tank the wiring harness has to be disconnected and that connection is only accessible from inside the car. So, if the car was locked, obviously no work was performed on the vehicle. YourMechanic does offer these services and you can start by requesting fuel pump replacement. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.
I replaced the fuel pump and now my truck won’t start
ANSWER : Hi there:
In some cases, when the fuel pump is not supplying fuel from the tank to the fuel injectors it’s due to one of three different issues. First, it’s possible that the pump or some of the hose attachments are installed backwards or that there is a blockage somewhere in the fuel lines; typically at the first fuel filter. Finally, it’s possible that you have a ground issue somewhere near the fuel pump that’s causing a reduction in power. The best way to trace this issue is to contact a mobile mechanic and have them help you diagnose this issue; as the process for tracing a fuel pump delivery issue can be complex and very time consuming.
