Triptronics (manual gear change override) doesn't work, shift box replacement recommended, is that part of powertain?

My car has 95000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
The triptronic function switch could be broken or the multi-function switch with cruise control could have failed causing the transmission not to shift with the computer system triptronic. If the shifter is in good shape and the multi-function switch is good and works fine, then the computer may need to be flashed (reprogrammed) to be reset. If you need further assistance with your triptronic system on your transmission, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced mechanics :

One reason why an automatic transmission isn`t shifting into gear has to do with the fluid. If it`s not at the right level or the incorrect type has been used, then it`ll affect the gears. Another big reason has to do with the ECM possibly going bad.
Both hybrid versions come with a standard six-speed automatic gearbox, while the plug-in hybrid comes with four-wheel drive (it`s an option on the hybrid GT-Line S). The Kia Sportage 2023 features improved handling thanks to its updated suspension and steering systems.
Certain Kia Sportage models have transmission issues, including rough shifting, transmission slipping and even gearbox failure. Usually down to a faulty torque converter, this can be an expensive problem to address and fix.
Automatic gearbox telltale signs include hesitation, slipping, or “trembling” during gear changes. Manuals are more likely to grind. Jerking and clunking noises are more likely to be caused by failing engine and transmission mounts.
1. At the top of all auto repair experts lists for causes of problematic transmissions is low transmission fluid. Usually caused by a leak somewhere in the system, low or contaminated fluid makes it nearly impossible for the transmission to automatically shift gears and run smoothly.
Hyundai Powertech was established in 2001 as South Korea`s first automatic transmission specialist. It has plants in South Korea, China, and the United States. Its automatic transmissions are used in Hyundai, Kia, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles.
It`s certainly fast enough in the full hybrid `Sportage HEV` guise, and while the six-speed automatic gearbox shifts quite slowly, it`s also smooth and does what you expect it to.
During that time you should avoid driving your vehicle. This is due to the dangers that come with an unpredictable transmission. If there have been issues with the gears not engaging or slipping, this can cause the vehicle to unexpectedly start shaking when driving.
Kia Sportage Transmission Cost

The rate of a new Kia Sportage transmission could be over $3,500 depending on the vehicle, however, transmission services such as fluid changes and a transmission fluid flush are considerably less lavish, in some cases costing less than $150.

Can an automatic gearbox be repaired? Yes, automatic gearboxes can be repaired. However, be aware that this can be complex and labour intensive. Automatic gearbox repairs are typically one of the most expensive repairs you will make on your car.
Manual Transmission: Worn-Out Clutch

The clutch disc is a wearable component that may need regular replacement on your vehicle. If the manual transmission is slipping, losing power and difficult to shift, you may need the clutch adjusted or the clutch disc replaced.

You can also force your automatic transmission to downshift into a lower gear. Here`s how to do it: As you approach a situation where you`d like to downshift, ease off the gas pedal. Allow the transmission to shift to a lower gear.

Do i need to replace the receiver drier and/or the expansion valve when replacing the condenser assembly?
ANSWER : Replacing the system drier is absolutely essential. If the system has been open to the atmosphere (due to the leak in the condenser), the desiccant in the drier has been fully saturated with moisture. As far as the expansion valve, replacement is not normally implicated in a leak repair, in your case a leak in the condenser. To justify replacing the expansion valve, there would have to have been a diagnostic performed which proved a fault. If no diagnostic was performed, and there is no evidence of a fault, then it is pointless to replace the valve. But, again, drier replacement is absolutely essential. To add the drier to your order, you can simply add a note to the mechanic in your order and/or add it as a service (you will see a link that you can click on to "add services" or write in specific services). My power steering rack needs replacing. The part will cost me $989.98 plus the labor $460.00. Is those price fare?
ANSWER : Ouch! that’s a pretty hard hit! unfortunately it may not be out of line. I’m curious about your warranty, however. Many new cars are covered by at least a 5 year / 50,000 mile warranty. If the rack was not damaged by an accident or abuse, it may be covered. If the Toyota dealer is not helpful with questions, there will be a customer service number that you can call to try for some action. Failing that, it may do to get a second opinion. if you contact Your Mechanic, they can send a technician to your home or office to check out your steering rack and make a recommendation.

Does the replacement of a thermostat include replacing the housing? I was told I needed to replace the thermostat housing.
ANSWER : Hi, thanks for writing in. The thermostat housing and the thermostat itself are two different components and do not necessarily need to be replaced together or at the same time. The housing is just a piece that covers the thermostat that also has an opening for a radiator hose which is where the water enters and exits the motor. The housing may need to be replaced at times if it is cracked or leaks severely, however they are indeed two different and distinct pieces.

Hope this helps and best of luck.

What parts would I need to replace in the AC system of my 2004 Chevrolet Blazer
ANSWER : Hello. If there is just a leak in a hose then only the hose needs to be replaced then the system needs to be evacuated and recharged. If the compressor is bad then it needs to be replace along with the accumulator and the expansion valve. There really is no reason to replace the entire system unless there is a catastrophic compressor failure. You should find another air conditioning specialist to take it to in order to get a second opinion.

2004 CADILLAC SRX replaced low beam headlight bulb but it still doesn’t work. someone said the baluster may need to be replace.
ANSWER : High-intensity discharge, or HID headlights require a lot more voltage to light than conventional halogen bulbs. Then once lit, they consume less wattage than the halogen bulbs. Sometimes referred to as a ballast or ignitor, this component amplifies the 12 volts provided by the vehicle’s electrical system to roughly 40,000 volts to initially light the HID bulb. When ballasts go bad, the light may flicker or not light at all. Typically the ballast is part of the headlight and not available separately, usually requiring replacement of the entire headlight but this varies from vehicle to vehicle. You may be able to find a replacement ballast independent of the headlight either through a dealership parts department or shopping online. Either way, replacing the ballast will require removing the headlamp assembly for access. The front bumper cover will have to be removed in order to remove the headlight.

Dash, Tail/brake, dome, trunk, glovebox, and door lights won’t work, dash doing weird things.
ANSWER : Hi there. Sure would appear a lot is going on electrically all at once. This could be, a problem in the PDC (power distribution center). The PDC is typically located under the hood and contains numerous fuses and relays. I don’t believe any one fuse will resolve all of the electrical issues. There is a possibility, it is not a power supply issue. It may be, the result of a poor electrical ground common to the inoperative components. Proper circuit testing should be performed. This would confirm the cause of multiple electrical failures. I recommend having your vehicle’s electrical problems be diagnosed and repaired by a certified technician, such as one from YourMechanic.

Just replaced head gasket, changed crack sensor new plugs. The check engine light is on, but dim, the only other light that the dash is a normal battery indicator. The fuel pump is not running when switch is turned on, the power windows don’t work, it turns over but not firing. It’s like only one part of the system is working. Also the heater fans work even if the switch is off.
ANSWER : I would first look at the diagnostic trouble codes. Those codes are available because the check engine light is on. If the fuel pump is not running (momentarily) at key on, that fault alone will prevent the car from starting as there will be no fuel pressure. Pump output and pressure can be directly tested and you can also check for electrical power to the pump. To find out why the engine will not run, the recommended diagnostic is a no start diagnostic. If you request that service, the responding certified mechanic will get this taken care of for you.
