The exhaust header is failing at the pipe joins. Can’t see it, but can hear it. Can you recommend a SS replacement?
My 1995 Corolla has developed a crack in the exhaust header. Can you recommend a stainless steel replacement that fits or should I get the Toyota NOS replacement? A couple of years ago, I had to replace the flex pipe that this connects. Had I known this would be the next point of failure, I would have replaced this at that time.
Is this something I can do myself or should I have a garage tackle this? My only tools are socket wrench set, pliers, screwdrivers, and hammer.
My car has 103900 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hello there, a cranked exhaust header can cause many issues with your 1995 Toyota Corolla. The exhaust header is such a critical component that it should be replaced with an OEM style header, not an aftermarket stainless steel one. This is a rather large job that requires the removal of many parts to get the exhaust header out and is best left to the professionals. A qualified Technician such as one from YourMechanic will be able to replace your exhaust header.
How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

A poorly functioning exhaust system means lower fuel efficiency, decreased power, and could even lead to costly damage down the line. More importantly, the exhaust system`s primary function is to guide the poisonous gases produced in your engine away from you and your passengers and safely out the tailpipe.
The exhaust valves can get burned, the leak can damage oxygen sensors, or the problem can cause the catalytic converter to fail prematurely. It may also increase your fuel consumption, meaning you spend more on gas each week. This is a job best left to the pros since a leaking exhaust manifold can be dangerous.
The average cost for a Toyota Corolla Exhaust Pipe Replacement is between $1,752 and $1,787. Labor costs are estimated between $117 and $147 while parts are priced between $1,636 and $1,640.
When there`s a crack in the exhaust piping, it can leak toxic gases into the car`s cabin. If you`re driving and don`t notice the leak, you could unknowingly breathe in harmful fumes. These fumes can cause headaches, nausea, and vomiting—not to mention damage to your lungs over time.
If your exhaust pipe is severely rusted or has suffered extensive damage, it likely cannot be repaired and instead will need to be replaced. However, if the issue is a small leak or damaged muffler, you can patch the leak or replace the muffler using common hand tools.
If the header alters the air-to-fuel ratio, it can damage your engine. Some headers make the engine louder. Extra parts can lead to additional maintenance.
The average cost for a Toyota Pickup Exhaust Pipe Replacement is between $454 and $472. Labor costs are estimated between $70 and $89 while parts are priced between $384 and $384.
The most likely problem that will occur with your exhaust system is the parts getting rusty. Due to the metals that exhausts are made from – especially the exhaust pipe and silencer – and the proximity to wet and gritty ground, rust is still a common problem in this area of the vehicle.
A broken exhaust system poses an extreme danger because it releases carbon monoxide (CO)—an odorless, tasteless, highly toxic gas—which can travel into the passenger area and cause carbon monoxide poisoning. Why should you care? CO poisoning can be debilitating or even deadly.
Poor engine performance – Similar to a damaged exhaust manifold, mufflers, catalytic converter, or any other exhaust part can result in a loss of engine power, bad fuel economy, or rough engine running.
If the exhaust manifold is cracked and leaks, this can burn the exhaust valves and affect their seal over the engine cylinders. Back pressure can be created, causing the engine to lose power, sputter and misfire.

Throttle body replaced under warranty has a defect, now out of warranty.
ANSWER : Hi there:
Although we’re not lawyers and not permitted to provide legal advice, to my knowledge, State of California "lemon laws" apply to new vehicle purchases as opposed to replacement services; however, you might want to contact the California Bureau of Automotive Repair for specific guidelines. What I’d advise is to not continue taking your vehicle to a dealership if they are not going to cover the components under warranty. Instead have a professional mobile mechanic complete these repairs; or sell the Suzuki and purchase something a little more reliable; as fuel system issues are common with these vehicles.
Do i need to replace the receiver drier and/or the expansion valve when replacing the condenser assembly?
ANSWER : Replacing the system drier is absolutely essential. If the system has been open to the atmosphere (due to the leak in the condenser), the desiccant in the drier has been fully saturated with moisture. As far as the expansion valve, replacement is not normally implicated in a leak repair, in your case a leak in the condenser. To justify replacing the expansion valve, there would have to have been a diagnostic performed which proved a fault. If no diagnostic was performed, and there is no evidence of a fault, then it is pointless to replace the valve. But, again, drier replacement is absolutely essential. To add the drier to your order, you can simply add a note to the mechanic in your order and/or add it as a service (you will see a link that you can click on to "add services" or write in specific services). If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.
