Sun roof does not close flush with the roof. The sunroof suddenly stopped tilting up to line up with roof.

My sunroof suddenly stopped functioning properly. The sunroof opens normally however when I try to close it it closes fully but does not tilt up. This causes a gap between the sunroof and the roof of my car. The sunroof is not lining flush the top of my car.
My car has an automatic transmission.
Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
The glass may be adjustable on the track, there may be a calibration routine in the Factory Service Manual, and there may be lubrication possibilities which could restore range of motion. Those are the simple fixes. If none work, that means that there is a mechanical issue with the track, alignment, gearing, and/or the motor. Those issues require disassembly and inspection per the Factory Service Manual. It is fixable though and so I encourage you to request a moving glass panel diagnostic. If you request that service the responding certified mechanic will get this taken care of for you. Sunroof Starts To Close Then Reverses

The most likely reason is that something is triggering the safety mechanism. The safety mechanism is an important feature that prevents the sunroof from crushing fingers if somebody curiously reaches up at the wrong time. The roof detects the resistance and slides open again.

Once the sunroof tilts and moves slightly, press the sunroof button forward again and hold until the sunroof tilts and moves. In most cases, this will only take a few seconds. In three seconds, push the sunroof button forward again, hold, and it should tilt closed, slide open, and then slide back closed.
The tilt function is an Exhaust vent when parked in the sunny outside at noontime. So that when you get inside the car, it wouldn`t be too hot because hot gases would escape out from the tilted sunroof.
The switch can be diagnosed as faulty simply by testing for continuity across the switch when the switch is cycled through all of its possible settings. If pressing the switch does not create a continuous circuit, the switch will be proven failed.
Inoperable sunroofs are usually caused by a dead motor, broken fuse, or faulty switch. These issues could be due to general wear and tear or from dirt or debris getting stuck in the gears. The good news is a trained auto repair technician can fix these electrical issues.
Your likely culprit is either your sunroof rails are dry or dusty or the gear mechanism needs to be lubed. Another possibility is your sunroof motor is also on it`s way out.
Touch the blue wire to the – terminal of the battery and then touch either the green or black wire (but not both at the same time) to the + terminal. The motor should vibrate & whir into action, and if it does then it`s A-OK.
The sunroof can be tilted to bring extra fresh air into the vehicle. To open the sunroof tilt, push the Sunroof button (located on the ceiling) upwards. To close the sunroof tilt, pull the button downwards.
The two main causes of a stuck sunroof are a lack of power and debris stuck in the sunroof`s tracks.
If the fuse blows, the moonroof will not open or close (and may be stuck open if that was the moonroof`s position when the fuse blew).
You can leave it tilted, water won`t get in. I leave mine tilted in light rain all the time if i need to air it out or in the summer time.
A sunroof is a glass or metal panel that`s installed in the roof of a car, truck, or SUV that slides open or pops up to allow light and air into the interior cabin. A moonroof is typically a clear or tinted glass panel that slides between the roof and the headliner and is often tilted open to let in the fresh air.
A lot of drivers still swear by the old practice of leaving a car`s side windows or sunroof open a crack to keep their vehicle`s interior temperature down. This does let the built-up heat escape and helps to facilitate some airflow through the car`s cabin, but only a fairly modest amount.
A moonroof or a sunroof can be added to some models of cars after the car is built. In the automotive world, this is known as an aftermarket item. It is an add-on that doesn`t come from the auto dealer. Taking a look online at the website of any local auto glass repair shop is a good place to start.
Manufacturers believe that the exploding sunroofs are caused by environmental factors, like changes in the temperature or debris hitting the glass. But drivers who have had their sunroofs explode are maintaining that it was a random occurrence due to a safety defect or poor engineering.
Some sunroofs do indeed leak. However, good quality sunroofs do not. There is a big difference in quality and performance between premium sunroofs and cheaper sunroofs. The differences are primarily in the seals and hinge/handle hardware.

Sun roof does not close flush with the roof. The sunroof suddenly stopped tilting up to line up with roof.

Windshield wipers stopped working. They’ll suddenly stop working then suddenly start working again. Has been happening for a week.
ANSWER : The problem you are describing likely stems from an intermittent electrical fault in the wiper circuit. The windshield wiper system uses a small electric motor to move the wiper arms that you see on the windshield. That electric motor is controlled through a switch, relay, fuse, and wiring. One, or more, of those electrical components has failed although it is also possible that the mechanical arms are binding (seized, if the lubricant has dried out) thus causing the electric circuit to the motor to overload. Regardless of the underlying fault, if you request a non functioning wiper diagnostic/repair, the responding certified mechanic will get this taken care of for you. Cant find brake fitting for 1/4 line going into rear rubber line with tee.
ANSWER : Your best bet would be to have a professional perform the service for you since you are having so much trouble. These are the brake lines so you really want them done right the first time and a warranty in case something goes wrong and your pedal gets soft. The old fitting will need to be cut from the old line and placed on the new line and the new line flared as the vehicle is set up which may require that expensive tool. Consider hiring an experienced technician like one from YourMechanic who can help you avoid a tow fee and come out to take a closer look at the brake system damage to offer a more personal estimate on the repairs.

My car stops when engine gets warm and while I am driving I stop on red light and car suddenly turn off and I have to hit starter
ANSWER : Hello, from what you’ve described it sounds like you are having several different issues. The starter should have nothing to do with it stalling, but it will have something to do with the car restarting if it doesn’t turn the engine well. The stalling can be from the distributor or possibly a computer sensor.

The scenario where you hit a car from behind may be from another problem, alongside with the idling of the engine. Without knowing the model and engine size of your car I can only say so much. I would suggest having a mechanic do a thorough check of the entire car to check the engine, brakes, and computer systems to see if the problems can be identified and repaired, or at the very least quoted.

2004 Chevy impala ss sunroof will not close, make clicking noise and motor sounds like it is laboring
ANSWER : Hi There,
It sounds like the sunroof is binding up inside the track causing it to get stuck and ultimately overpower the motor. This will likely require the sunroof panels to come apart to determine what may be causing it to get stuck along the track. This usually requires removal of the inside headliner as well. I would suggest having a professional from YourMechnic come to your location to properly diagnose and repair your sunroof.

After closing, sunroof goes back to ventilation position
ANSWER : Hello! If the reset procedure does not work I suggest having a technician inspect the sunroof rails. The most likely cause will be the sun roof rails binding up. This issue has been reported by several Fiat owners already. Replacing the sunroof rails or cleaning and lubricating them will usually cause the sunroof to function as designed again.

If you decide to get this fixed, feel free to contact a professional mechanic who can assess the issue with your sunroof. A proper repair can then be done once a proper diagnostic performed.

How do I open and close the sun roof?
ANSWER : If your car is equipped with a sun roof, then it is opened and closed via a switch on the overhead console. The sun roof has two switches on the overhead console: the switch closest to the driver controls the opening and the closing. This switch has a symbol on one half for opening, and a symbol on the other half for closing. Press the corresponding half of the switch to its first detent and hold it until the window is opened or closed completely. Release the button at any point to stop the sun roof.
The vehicle needs to be in On/Run, Acc/Accessory, or Retained Accessory Power (RAP) mode for the power sun roof to work.

Need help with roof rack on my car
ANSWER : Hello. I’m not sure if there is an aftermarket part/attachment for the anchor points. I would suggest that you contact the dealer to see if they make this type of attachment, or a different type of roof rack that can be installed on your car. If I’m not mistaken you can unscrew the antenna to clear the area where the roof rack is.

It won’t hurt to try to place an anchor at the base of the cross rails. I would suggest that you anchor it down and test it for stability before driving the car.
