Stereo is weak and too quiet, screen died

I don’t understand how a brand new 2014 GMC Sierra, that was NOT cheap, can have so many issues with the radio. The touch screen died recently but before that, the radio had terrible reception and would randomly reset and turn off. I thought the radio was weak even when I test drove it, but I figured that there's no harm since I don’t play music that loud. Now I am at 9,000 miles, realizing I may have made a mistake. What kind of issue am I having here?
Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
In your description, you have multiple complaints. I looked into this year truck and radio concerns and found over twenty technical service bulletins (TSB) that could pertain to your issues. I am not going to list all them, but will summarize that your vehicle is under basic factory warranty and your dealer will have over twenty TSB to fix your issue. Most are reprogramming the radio and checking connectors to the radio and other modules. I recommend you take the truck to a local dealer and have them fix the issue and also check and address any recalls while you are there.

Stereo is weak and too quiet, screen died
ANSWER : In your description, you have multiple complaints. I looked into this year truck and radio concerns and found over twenty technical service bulletins (TSB) that could pertain to your issues. I am not going to list all them, but will summarize that your vehicle is under basic factory warranty and your dealer will have over twenty TSB to fix your issue. My truck died while driving. Now will start, but dies when I push brake. If I start in neutral, I can put in drive and go but dies – 2003 Ford F250
ANSWER : Hello – your symptoms suggest that once your cold start features are no longer needed – engine warming up – there is an air "leak" that ruins low speed running. Causes could be a leaking exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve, or leak in the air intake. A failing fuel pump relay (burned contacts) could cause similar behavior, contacts become hot, then won’t pass enough current to run the pump. Failing pump can also act this way – gets hot and fails. I recommend a starts, then dies inspection performed by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, diagnose this problem, and give you an accurate assessment of damage and cost estimate for repairs.

I changed fuel pump and truck ran great for 3 days. Now after 3 days truck dies. It will start runs few min then dies like before
ANSWER : Check the bottom of the fuel tank for sediment. Age and mileage could have accumulated a lot of it at the bottom of the tank. If you did not, check and change the fuel filter. Rule of thumb – replace the fuel filter any time you replace a fuel pump. Also, check the wiring for any chaffing on the fuel pump when you remove it. While your problem is kind of unique, I have seen many GM truck fuel tank baffle loosen over time, occasionally rubbing against the fuel pump can intermittently short it out and/or block the fuel pump pick up. To have this diagnosed, consider having a certified expert from YourMechanic inspect the stalling issue to have this corrected.

I start my truck my stereo works fine, when I shut the motor then start it again, I got no sound but the stereo is on just no sou
ANSWER : Hi there. I would need to know what kind of truck this is before I could give you and actual information about the issue. From my experience with problems like this it is usually caused by a faulty radio amplifier. Most newer vehicles have amplifiers that send the sound to the speakers and this occurs when the amplifier stops working properly. I usually recommend taking the vehicle to a stereo shop to repair this issue.

Car started shaking. Cleaned carb and air filter. Now it starts, runs, dies, or starts and dies.
ANSWER : Hello. The stalling issues you are having may by caused by a variety of issues. Typically these symptoms can be blamed on fuel, spark, or air. Fuel and spark being the most common systems to fail. Starting with the air filter and cleaning the carburetor were good steps to start. You need to take a better look at the spark system. The spark wires can be tested to make sure the plugs are receiving the voltage that they need to be. You can also test the fuel system by spraying some starter fluid into the air intake. If this helps the engine start and run better than before, then you know you have a fuel delivery issue. This may include the fuel pump, fuel filter, injectors, or a clogged fuel line. The shaking is due to the improper combustion happening in the engine. This will be corrected when the engine is running properly. More testing is the only way to know definitively what the issue is.

The dvc light keeps turning on and the car keeps on dying and when it dies thats when the light goes on more
ANSWER : This relates to the dynamic vehicle control which monitors the control of the vehicle. When it senses the vehicle is potentially out of control it cuts power to the car. It sounds like yours may have a bad control unit interfering and causing the car to die without cause. This is likely something that will need to be diagnosed with a scanning tool which will help to download critical data from the ECU. I would suggest having an expert from YourMechanic come to your home to diagnose this and make repairs.

Turns over but won’t start, or starts for a few minutes and then dies. It dies while driving also.
ANSWER : Hi there. From the description you have provided, your vehicle’s engine dying could be so many things causing the problem. Assuming the Check Engine Light is not coming on. It could be the fuel pump. A fuel pressure test could, confirm the diagnosis. It could be the ignition module. Checking and having spark when it dies could, rule out an ignition system problem.

It could be the mass airflow sensor. Next time the engine is running, tap on the MAF. If, the engine dies, restart and tap on the MAF again. If it dies again, replace the MAF. There are other possibilities. I recommend having your vehicle’s starting and dying problem diagnosed and repaired by a certified technician, like one from YourMechanic.

car losing power and dieing with stuggle to restart
ANSWER : Common causes of engine stalling and rough idle include a faulty mass airflow sensor, faulty engine coolant temperature switch/sensor (typically at cold start only), worn spark plugs, wires or defective ignition coil(s), inadequate fuel delivery or pressure (clogged fuel filter, injectors), contaminated or old gasoline, defective throttle position sensor, faulty idle air control valve, leaks in the EGR system, intake vacuum leaks, and so forth. If you request an engine stalling/rough idle diagnostic the responding certified mechanic will get this diagnosed and resolved for you promptly.
