The most common reasons a Dodge Grand Caravan won`t start are a dead battery, an alternator problem, or failed starter.
TIPM, which stands for “Totally Integrated Power Module” is the Chrysler nomenclature for the fuse and relay box, or electronic power relay center, in Chrysler vehicles produced since the early-to-mid-2000`s.
If your vehicle won`t start, it`s usually caused by a dying or dead battery, loose or corroded connection cables, a bad alternator or an issue with the starter. It can be hard to determine if you`re dealing with a battery or an alternator problem.
Intermittent issues starting the vehicle

If the starter relay is working properly, it will send power to the starter every time it is engaged. However, it is possible that the starter relay will become damaged due to excessive heat, dirt, and debris or other issues that might cause sporadic operation of the starter.

The most common Dodge problems include faulty electronic gear shifters, low mileage engine blow-outs, rusting, wobbly front ends, and dashboards that crack easily. Dodge has been around since the 1900s, making it an American classic with over one hundred years of experience in the industry.
If the car cranks when you turn the key, but the engine won`t start, it could be because fuel isn`t getting to the engine. One potential reason for this could be dirty fuel injectors. Over time, the fuel injector nozzles can become clogged with rust, corrosion or debris.
Problem Description

If the engine cranks but does not start, or starts and stalls, the fuses should be inspected, especially the power door locks fuse. The power door lock fuse provides power to a module that sends the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) the “OK to start” signal.

If random electrical devices in your car are out of whack, this is usually a sign of a faulty TIPM. Difficulty starting the engine or the engine not starting at all, is usually a bad fuel pump relay within the TIPM. What cars usually have problems with the TIPM?
One integral part keeping your Caravan running is the ECM, commonly known as the engine control module or electronic control module.

Lubrication issues, oil sludging, coolant leaks, overheating and low-mileage engine failures have plagued this engine family from the get-go. Some blame the design of the engine itself for all the ills it has suffered, while others blame consumers for not maintaining their engines properly.

An inconsistent starter motor that occasionally works perfectly now will not work. Then engine will not crank at all.
ANSWER : Hi there. It is possible for the starter to fail. But before replacing the starter, make sure that the battery cables are tight and clean. Then check the starter relay and make sure that the relay is clicking. If the relay is not clicking, then check for power to the relay. If there is power to the relay but there is no click, then the starter relay would need to be replaced. If there is no power to the relay, then either the wiring from the relay to the ignition switch has a break in it or the ignition switch is failing. If there is power to the relay and power to the starter motor, then the starter motor needs replaced. If you need further assistance with your no start issue, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

Windshield wipers stopped working. They’ll suddenly stop working then suddenly start working again. Has been happening for a week.
ANSWER : The problem you are describing likely stems from an intermittent electrical fault in the wiper circuit. The windshield wiper system uses a small electric motor to move the wiper arms that you see on the windshield. That electric motor is controlled through a switch, relay, fuse, and wiring. One, or more, of those electrical components has failed although it is also possible that the mechanical arms are binding (seized, if the lubricant has dried out) thus causing the electric circuit to the motor to overload. Regardless of the underlying fault, if you request a non functioning wiper diagnostic/repair, the responding certified mechanic will get this taken care of for you. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.

Suddenly starter doesnot work and after few minutes again it works
ANSWER : I would recommend replacing the starter relay in the engine compartment’s junction box. The relay may have intermittent relay contact issues. The relay may not be the cause but is the least cost alternative to being stranded in the future.

If you’d like a second opinion on this or need help with the replacement of the starter relay, consider YourMechanic, as one of our mobile technicians can come to your home or office to service your vehicle.

My dash board don’t work my front light work when I change my light into high beam and my back window won’t go down
ANSWER : As unfortunate as it is, your vehicle would be considered flood damaged. Diagnosing electrical problems in a flood damaged vehicle is nearly impossible. This would take many hours or even days to determine which wiring harnesses and circuits have been affected. Then nearly all of the wiring under the dash would likely require replacement as well as many sensors and switches. On a BMW vehicle, the amount of wires and switches are likely more than that of a lower end vehicle. Due to the inefficiency in cost, you would likely be able to purchase another BMW like yours for less than what it would cost to fix your car. Many insurance companies would consider this type of damage to total out the vehicle unfortuantely.

Having a starter issue and I have done all the troubleshooting to know it’s the starter. 1997 Ford F150
ANSWER : Hi there – I suspect the "bolt" you mention is on the starter solenoid, which has burned contacts. This means that you can measure voltage to the solenoid, but there is not enough current through the solenoid contacts to kick the starter motor. Jumping it adds enough current to overcome the resistance of the burned contacts. I recommend replacing the starter assembly by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, diagnose this problem, give you an accurate assessment of damage and cost estimate for repairs.

I tried to start my truck after a -35 degree night. I got nothing from the starter. The key fob worked once to unlock the car, but
ANSWER : Hello. If all of your issues began after severely cold temperatures, then it may be possible that the issues are temperature or moisture related. It is important to keep in mind that at lower temperatures, especially those as low as you experienced, it takes considerably more effort to start a vehicle. It may be possible that the required effort is simply too much for the battery to handle. You can have the battery tested to determine if it is providing enough power to meet the requirement, as well as holding a charge. It could also be possible that there is an issue with the starter as well. I would also check to make sure that the key fob batteries are not dead as well, as that could also cause similar malfunctions. As electrical issues can sometimes be difficult to diagnose, if you are unsure, I would recommend having a professional technician, such as one from YourMechanic, visit your location to determine if the battery may need to be replaced.

My AC does not always work. If I fiddle with the blower knob I can ususally get it to work on the lowest setting.
ANSWER : Hi There,
It sounds like you may have a faulty blower motor resistor. The highest speed setting may still work because in most cars in the highest fan speed settings the current bypasses the blower motor resistor. In some cars, if the resistor is failed, the fan may stop working completely. Another reason a blower motor resistor may fail is when the blower motor has a mechanical problem or when a foreign object jams the blower motor fan blade and prevents it from spinning freely. This leads to increased current through the resistor and causes it to overheat and fail. I would suggest having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location to diagnose your system to determine what may be causing the fan not to work properly.

Heater / A/C are not working properly. They are weak and the highest and lowest settings do not work at all. Any ideas what it could be?
ANSWER : Hi there. Check the power from the switch on each setting and to the blower. See what the voltage is at each setting. If the voltage is low or not showing, then the switch is not working and needs replaced. The switch has a resister built in it to make the blower have different voltage outputs which makes the blower have multiple speeds. However, the first setting and the last setting could have a burned element inside making only the second and third setting work. Once you have the blower working properly, if there is no heat, then check the heater control valve in the engine compartment for if the vacuum line has came off or if the valve is not working. When the engine is at operating temperature, check the temperature of the coolant hoses to the valve and after the valve. If the hoses are the same temperature and the valve is shut, then the valve is on or not working. If the temperatures are different, then the valve is off or not working. If you need further assistance with your heater and a/c not working, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.
