7.3L Horsepower/Torque

Power levels in the 7.3L Powerstroke started out at 215 hp and 425 lb-ft of torque for the 1994.5-1995 model years and were bumped up to 225 hp and 450 lb-ft for 1996-1997.

I am replacing my power brakes booster and need some advice about removing the power unit from the bell crank.
ANSWER : Hi there. When removing the brake booster from a vehicle, you will need to remove the master cylinder and cap off the hydraulic lines. Then go in the cab and remove the pin from the bell crank and unbolt the 4 bolts that hold the booster on. Then remove the booster. Do the opposite to install the booster. No power past Starter Solenoid
ANSWER : Hey there. That is a tough one. If your not getting power past the solenoid, the only thing I would consider is that the ground connection from the starter is faulty or the wire itself is frayed. On an older Dodge like your W100, I would suspect electrical wires and connections as being the trouble spots. Check all connections and replace the ground wires to be on the safe side to see if this resolves your issues.

Why no brakes
ANSWER : I would first recommend checking the brake fluid level. There needs to be ample brake fluid in the system to so that there is not a lack of hydraulic pressure. Secondly, check to be sure you do not have vacuum leak in the brake booster. As you may know, the brake booster operates off of vacuum pressure and when there is a vacuum leak, this can cause a loss of braking power from little to nothing at all. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your home to diagnose your braking system and possibly repair the vacuum break booster.

Loss of power using turbo
ANSWER : It sounds like the vehicle is going into limp mode. This occurs when the powertrain control module (PCM) (also known as the electrical control unit) has determined there is an overboost condition. The computer disables the turbo to prevent damage from occurring. There are many potential causes for an overboost condition, with a failed turbo being just one of them.

Some other possibilities include vacuum leaks, a faulty vane adjustment solenoid, faulty turbo actuator or a bad MAF sensor. There is a technical service bulletin (TSB) # 21-07-65, which advises to check for vacuum leaks before replacing the turbo.
