The rear door has built in sensors and power motors that work together to close the door automatically when you push the close button. If there is a shorted button then this could cause it to close again as soon as it is opened. I recommend keeping children and your hands away from the door until it is fixed. Make sure the inside controls on the display are set correctly by the owners manual to the rear door operation. I’d suggest you get this checked out by a qualified technician who can diagnose the issue with your lift gate and make the necessary repairs.

Pull the liftgate down to the desired height and hold the liftgate (the liftgate will have some resistance when being manually adjusted). 3. While holding the liftgate in position, press and hold the liftgate switch located on the liftgate for approximately 5 seconds or until two beeps are heard.
If in your test for lowering, the gate raises fine but just will not lower, it most likely is a bad lower valve and coil. Feel the valve when activating switch. You should feel a pulse on the valve and hear it click. If you can`t feel the valve activate or hear a clicking, change the valve and coil.
Common symptoms of a bad power liftgate latch actuator are having a hard time opening the liftgate, liftgate will not latch properly when closing, or difficulty in opening even when pressing the switch at the door.

The fuses in the trunk protect electrical components such as the power seats, airbags and seat belt tensioners. Fuse pliers are provided on the inside of the fuse box cover to assist in removing and inserting fuses. There are also spaces for several extra fuses in the distribution box in the engine compartment.
The backup fuse protection is mainly used where the main protection of the adjacent circuit is unable to back up the main protection of the given circuit. The backup fuse helps us to control the maximum current in an electric circuit. The fuse wire melts and thereby breaks the continuity of a given electric circuit.
You can switch the power liftgate on or off through the vehicle settings on your touchscreen. When switched off, the liftgate only unlatches and will not power open or close.

The system or actuator filter is blocked or clogged. The actuator ports are plugged with contaminants. The speed controls are closed. There is too much condensation.
To test a linear actuator`s current draw, simply connect a multimeter in series with one of the leads of a powered linear actuator, and watch the amperage reading as you extend/retract the rod. Based on the reading, you can determine a power supply that will be able to handle that current draw.

After closing, sunroof goes back to ventilation position
ANSWER : Hello! If the reset procedure does not work I suggest having a technician inspect the sunroof rails. The most likely cause will be the sun roof rails binding up. This issue has been reported by several Fiat owners already. Replacing the sunroof rails or cleaning and lubricating them will usually cause the sunroof to function as designed again.

If you decide to get this fixed, feel free to contact a professional mechanic who can assess the issue with your sunroof. A proper repair can then be done once a proper diagnostic performed.

Can a blown head gasket cause a map controlled thermostat not to open?
ANSWER : Hi there. Although a blown head gasket can cause multiple systems to fail throughout the vehicle, is less than likely that it would impact the operation of the thermostat on the radiator. However, it is quite possible that when the original overheating issue that likely caused the head gasket failure occurred, several electrical harnesses or sensors that control and monitor these components may have been damaged. Coolant can overflow for many reasons, but typically it’s due to having coolant that is not thinned down to the recommended 50/50 ratio of coolant to distilled water when adding coolant to the radiator.

Sliding door won’t close with buttons
ANSWER : The doors have a safety sensor that will not allow the door to close when the sensor is indicating that the door is blocked. Another possibility is that the door slides are binding the door and the motor senses it then reverses it back open.

The system will need to be scanned with a scanner that can monitor the input and outputs of the body computer’s sensor. You will have to have it tested since it is a safety hazard to try and bypass the system.

You could try and open door all the way open and clean the door tracks out. Be sure to remove all of the dirt and debris that are in the tracks and lightly lube the tracks. If it still binds and reverses then have a certified mechanic test the system out. They will be able to diagnose the problem with your door and make the necessary repairs.

Automatic Trunk open/close feature not working but button lights up. I soldiered broken wires back together – reset?
ANSWER : Hello, thanks for writing in. Most of the time this is caused by a programming issue with the control module. It usually occurs if the module fails or if there is a loss of power. It can also occur if the batter is jumper improperly but most of the time you will have other issues also. If the battery was jumped correctly then I usually start by reprogramming the control module just to see if it will accept the programming. If it will not, then a new module will probably need to be installed and programmed to the vehicle. Not many places have the equipment to do this, so it is usually best left to the dealer where you got your car. I recommend having one of our certified automotive technicians from YourMechanic come to your home or office to inspect, diagnose, and repair the issue for you.
