If I change the battery on a 2008 Acura RDX will I need to do anything besides swap out battery?

Battery sounds like it's dieing when starting in cold weather want to by a new battery just curious if there is anything I need to do like will I have to reprogram car again. ?
Or could it be easy as just swapping out the battery?

My car has 99000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
There is a lot of memory lost when you change the battery. The radio might need to be re-coded and the power windows and sun roof may not work correctly until you do a re-set. The car may also not drive the same until the system has time to do a "re-learn" where it decides what the shift points and other settings should be. This memory loss can be prevented with a little device you can buy at the auto parts store. It has a 9 volt battery connected to a power outlet connector. You can plug it into a live power outlet, and the 9 volt battery is enough to maintain the memories while the battery is out of the car. You do have to observe several precautions. One, make sure everything is turned off and the key is out for about 20 minutes before disconnecting the battery. Two, make sure the battery cables do not touch or do not touch any other metal surface. Then it should go smoothly. If you’d rather not go through the hassle, you can contact Your Mechanic to get a battery replacement conveniently done at your home or office.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

With the tips of the multimeter in the same position and with the engine on, the multimeter should show a reading between 13.2 and 14.8 volts.
The average cost for an Acura RDX Battery Replacement is between $252 and $265. Labor costs are estimated between $51 and $65 while parts are priced between $201 and $201.
Group-35, Group-51R

The Group-51 Battery is found in Hondas, Nissan GTRs, and some other Japanese Cars. It can actually be used as a smaller/lighter version of the Group-35 for racing being it is same height and length, just narrower front to back.

Group 51R OEM Automotive Case size (directly replace stock battery). LxWxH: 9.4 x 5.2 x 8.6 inches. Amp Hours: 24 Ah or 30 Ah. High Power: 24Ah=1000CA, 30Ah=1200 Cranking Amps.
For example, if you have a 48v battery, 48 volts is the `nominal` voltage or middle of the range of voltages for that battery. When you charge a 48v battery it actually charges to 54.6 volts and when it is empty it will be somewhere around 40-41 volts.
What Voltage Should My 12v Battery Show? A fully charged 12 volt battery should read at 12.6 volts on the multimeter. If the reading is lower than this, you`ll want to charge your battery with either a battery charger or by taking your car for a drive.
With the AcuraLink smartphone app, you can also research and send destinations to your onboard navigation system, see your vehicle`s health report, activate your vehicle`s remote start and stop features, remotely lock and unlock your vehicle, and so much more.
Acura RDX batteries usually last between 3-5 years, but this is variable depending on the type of battery, weather conditions, driving habits, and more. You can prolong the life of your RDX battery by: Cleaning the terminals and posts of corrosion with the suitable cleaning solution & a wire brush.
How much to replace the battery in my Acura? Depending on power, size, and quality, prices for a replacement car battery range from about $45 to $250.
You can look at the battery section of the Owner`s Manual of the car or truck. If the owner`s manual can`t be found, look at your existing battery and see what BCI Group Size is already installed. The Group Size is labeled in several places on the battery. Generally on the top and/or on the front of the battery.
The battery compartment and holders in your vehicle are designed for a specific battery size, nothing more, nothing less. Attempting to use a larger battery and either forcing it into place or using alternative means to hold it in place can potentially cause structural damage to the battery or the car.
No. Car batteries differ in multiple ways to work with different vehicle`s specifications, and they are generally year, make, model-specific. Many car batteries do have one important similarity in how they work.
Group 51R OEM Automotive Case size (directly replace stock battery). LxWxH: 9.4 x 5.2 x 8.6 inches. Amp Hours: 24 Ah or 30 Ah. High Power: 24Ah=1000CA, 30Ah=1200 Cranking Amps.
In order to calculate the size of the battery you need, you will have to to calculate the expected consumption in a day and divide this sum (in watts per day) by the direct current voltage (in volts). It is not recommended to let some batteries, especially lead-acid batteries, discharge to less than 50%.
Because 48V systems run at higher efficiency while using fewer amps, they can operate appliances more safely than lower voltage systems. A 48V system will not have to increase its amperage regularly to provide the same power level as a 12V or 24V system.
The voltage of the charger must be matched to the voltage of the battery system being charged. A 48 volt charger would see your 36 volt battery system as a very under-charged battery (not being 48 volts) and the net effect would be to damage your batteries attempting to bring them up to 48 volts.
Fully-charged, most car batteries will measure at least 12.6 volts (~13.0-13.2V for OPTIMA YELLOWTOPs), but low voltage doesn`t necessarily equal a bad battery. Modern cars are very demanding from an electrical perspective, even when they`re not being used.
If you don`t have a voltage of around 12.6 volts, you may have a bad battery. Now start the car, and look for a revised voltage over 10. If your voltage drops below 5 when the car is running, it is bad and should be replaced right away.

Assuming you have a 48V system and you want to use 12V batteries, you`ll need to connect four 12V batteries in series to get a 48V system.

For example, after your first 7,500 miles behind the wheel of the RDX, you`ll just need a simple oil and filter change. You`ll also have the help of the Acura Maintenance Minder™ to monitor your vehicle`s oil life for you.

Group 51 and 51R are usually made as vibration resistant Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) batteries that may easily fit most car battery compartments, intended for these batteries.

Engine swap details needed. I need to know if the swap will fit.
ANSWER : Hi there. When it comes to swapping engines for your vehicle, what you can do is check all of the engine mounts and transmission mounts and make sure that they will work. If the mounts are a little off but there is room, then you may have to retro fit a custom mount. Check the length of the engine and the transmission assembly together. Make sure that the assembly is the same length. It may be okay if it’s a few inches shorter or longer, however, it cannot exceed 3 inches or the assembly will not fit. There has to be room for the engine to move around. Also, keep in mind, the CV shafts may not match up to the transmission and wheel hubs, especially if the transmission is shorter or longer. If you need further assistance with swapping your engine with another engine, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

I have Chrysler 300c. Battery light came on, changed battery and alternator but power still getting drained and battery light still comes on.
ANSWER : Hi, thanks for writing in. This may be a sign of a failing starter relay. The starter relay is a small unit near the starter that directs power to the starter from the battery. When this fails, it may cause a clicking sound and will not allow the starter to engage the flywheel when you turn the key. I would suggest having a professional from YourMechanic come to your home to diagnose your starting issue to determine the solution to get you back on the road.

Crank no start
ANSWER : Hey there, thanks for writing in about your 2003 Ford Explorer. It sounds to me like you either have no fuel or bad fuel at the injectors, or no spark to spark plugs. Try to narrow the problem to one of these possibilities. If you just got fuel before it dies, then you may have excessive water in the fuel. Take a fuel sample and let it settle in a cool place to see if water is in fuel. You already ruled out many components, but you have to double check and make sure that each test was done correctly. If you’d like further help with this, my recommendation would be to have a certified mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, thoroughly diagnose the no start issue in person in order to have this properly resolved.

Do I have to reset any settings after changing battery and does the hose on the side of factory battery need to be re connected.v
ANSWER : Yes. You will need to reset your settings. Usually the dealer can do it free of charge but no promises. If you take a battery off and put a new one on, if there was anything hooked up the the battery, i.e. the hose you are speaking of, reinstall it. I always install everything the way I took it off. If you end up needing some assistance, consider YourMechanic, as one of our mobile technicians can come to your home to service your battery and ensure a proper installment. I hope this helps and good luck.

is there an other filter besides oil filter that needs to be changed when changing oil?

Battery light stays on and overnight battery drain. 2006 Land Rover LR3
ANSWER : Hello – this problem can be diagnosed by connecting an ammeter to the positive (red) battery cable, observe the current drain (likely less than 1 amp), then, one at a time, remove each fuse, check to see if the current drain has dropped to near 0, then reinsert the fuse. This process should identify the faulty circuit in most cases. The specific components on that circuit can then be checked for current drain problems. A professional mechanic, like YourMechanic, can come to your location, and perform this procedure for you, and identify, replace or repair the failing component.
