Hello. Yes you can convert older vehicles to ABS. But it requires a lot of parts patience and labor for a conversion to be successful. Most people will just buy a car with ABS instead of trying to convert an older car to abs. To convert a car to ABS you would need a lot of new brake lines, proportioning valves, a stand alone ABS computer, ABS tone rings, wheel speed sensors and an ABS pump. Most time when doing an ABS conversion you have to take the car to a machine shop so they can properly install the ABS tone ring and speed sensors because the measurements have to be precise to a fraction of an inch or the system will not work properly. Also if your dashboard does not have a factory ABS light you will have to add one so when something goes wrong the ABS system will alert you. You may have an issue with your transmission being that your vehicle will not go over 80 kilometers an hour. I suggest you have your vehicle inspected by technician. Good Luck!

According to Toyota, the ABS warning light indicates a malfunction in ABS, or the Brake Assist System.
Toyota Prado – A truly rugged luxury SUV.
The 4995mm-long Prado features a full-time 4WD system, which on GXL, VX and Kakadu variants is equipped with a rear diff lock.
The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (Japanese: トヨタ・ランドクルーザー プラド, Hepburn: Toyota Rando-Kurūzā Purado) is a full-size four-wheel drive vehicle in the Land Cruiser range produced by the Japanese automaker Toyota as one of the smaller vehicles in the Land Cruiser range.
Resetting Your ABS Dashboard Warning Light

Step One: Disconnect the positive cable from your car battery. Then, hold down the brake pedal to drain the vehicle`s electrical system. This will result in a reset of the car`s central computer. Plug the cable back in to restore power.

Firstly, you should check your brake fluid reservoir to ensure that the levels aren`t too low, as the ABS warning light can be activated if the levels of brake fluid have dropped. If this is clearly an issue, you can top the brake fluid up yourself, which should cause the ABS light to go off.
In the Toyota Prado, both engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic electronically controlled transmission unit. Going through the differences between the Land Cruiser and Prado, the latest Land Cruiser can yield 3600 RPM torque and 409 hp. Whereas, the 2023 Toyota Prado can yield 4400 RPM torque and 271 hp.
If you want sheer power and reliability, then the Land Cruiser with its V8 engine option is the one for you. If you love tech and want to challenge yourself on tricky terrain then the Prado with its additional features for off-road driving is the vehicle of choice.
ARAI reported Land Cruiser Prado mileage is 11.13 kmpl. Land Cruiser Prado comes with a 87-litre fuel tank. and approx 968 km of driving range.
Toyota has increased prices across the Prado range as it adds advanced safety tech to base models. Prices for the 2021 Toyota Prado have gone up by between $777 and $990 as advanced safety technology is added to the two base models, while the two top grades gain new wheel designs.
Even at an optimistic average fuel consumption of 13.1L/100km, the Prado petrol V6 offers a touring range of around 1350km from its 180-litres of fuel. The diesel model, on the other hand, offers an impressive 1900km!
As for the choice between Prado and Pajero. The Prado is a more capable off-roader when you`re driving it to the extremes (it has better wheel articulation and a smarter traction control system), but the Pajero is still impressive and tough and has nicer dynamics on a flowing country road.
If the light remains on, you need have our service department check it out immediately. Since the ABS helps with vehicle control and stopping distances, it is an important safety feature to maintain. If both the ABS and the brake system light come on at the same time, your vehicle is no longer safe to drive.
Is It Safe to Drive When the ABS Warning Light Is On? In general, you can still continue driving even if your car`s ABS light is on. This is because your car`s brakes still function as usual and can still slow your vehicle down.

When I put my foot on the brake my back left brake light goes off, when I take it off the brake the brake light comes on
ANSWER : I would suggest trying to disconnect and reconnect the wiring to the rear lights. I have seen these older Toyota vehicles rear lighting short out on the lights themselves due to the way the light circuit was made on the lamp housing. Look at the housing circuit on the light to see if one is touching another, and that could tell you why it is malfunctioning. There could also be a problem with the brake light switch. If you are not comfortable dealing with wires, I recommend getting in touch with a certified mechanic who can look at your brake light issue for you to see what’s going on.

Changed brake master cylinder, bled 10 times, and the pedal is soft The rear brakes are not locked but close. Truck now running rough.
ANSWER : You will have to bleed the brakes from the farthest location all the way to the master cylinder. There is still air in the lines causing the issue. Check the vibrations on the vehicle to see if the engine mounts are damaged or if the brakes are not releasing causing the engine to run harder than normal to overcome the braking force. If you need further assistance with your vehicle’s brake system, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

Getting 2 then 4 abs codes, brake shutters, speedo dies and engine slowes when Brake and absolutely lights come on,
ANSWER : You definitely want to start by inspecting the front and rear wheel speed sensors; a failure in these circuits will result in several other problems. Begin by connecting a scanner to see if the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is registering the sensors accurately. With the scanner, you should be able to monitor all the wheel speed sensors while driving. Keep in mind, the rear wheel speed sensor is mounted on the transmission and is the sensor that runs your speedometer.

Once you determine which sensor is not registering, visually inspect the wiring harnesses and, if everything looks good, replace the sensor. In most cases, the sensor is the problem. If you suspect a wiring problem that isn’t visually apparent, you will need to do a continuity test from the PCM to the sensor connector.

If you determine that all the speed sensors are good, you should suspect a problem with ABS pump. The C0267 trouble code indicates there is a wiring problem in the harness to the ABS pump. It is possible that this is the main problem. To test this, you should disconnect the connector from the ABS pump and visually inspect the pins on both ends. A continuity test should be performed in this harness as well.

There are more test procedures for this that are a bit involved. If you are interested in digging more into this, you should pick up a factory repair manual, not a Chilton. The factory repair manuals are superior and you definitely want good information to make a correct diagnosis of your car.

If you need help with this, I recommend an "ABS light is on" inspection.

Good luck!

Low brake pedal and anti-lock brakes are not kicking in.
ANSWER : The brake pedal is working to stop the vehicle, but there may be air in the controller unit causing the ABS brakes to not function. I recommend bleeding the brake system from the farthest location from the master cylinder to the master cylinder including the ABS unit. If the brakes are still spongy after a full bleed, then the controller will need to be replaced. If you need further assistance with your brake pedal being spongy, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

While driving on freeway truck goes into a limp mode, and the check engine light, abs light, parking break light, service brake
ANSWER : It is possible that you could be having an issue with your powertrain control module. This is somewhat of a common problem on many GM vehicles. I would recommend having your vehicle inspected by the dealership to determine if the powertrain control module is functioning properly. If not, a reflash of the powertrain control module may resolve the issue but often times it must be replaced.

EPC light on 2004 Jetta. Code said brake switch faulty, but brakes lights worked. Replaced brake switch, now no brake lights.
ANSWER : Hi there. The first thing that pops in my mind beyond of what you have listed is perhaps the electrical harness attached to the brake switch. Perhaps the harness itself is damaged or you have an exposed wire, loose ground wire somewhere. You might want to have a professional mobile mechanic come to your location and complete a brake lights not working inspection to help you diagnose this issue.

abs light on brake line broke have been replace I bleed brake line but brake pad still go to the floor now wheels lock up
ANSWER : Hello. If the brake pedal is going to the floor then that means that it is not building pressure. If the brake system has been fully bled and there is no air in it then most of the time it is a bad master cylinder or it can be caused by a bad ABS module. If the brake fluid was low and if air got into the system then the only way to properly bleed it is with a scan tool that would allow you to open and close the valves in the ABS unit. Air gets trapped in these easily if the brake fluid gets low. This can also explain why the brakes are locking up. I would usually use my scan tool to bleed the system out first before going any further. I would also scan the brake control module to see what it is reading as a fault. If there is no air in the system and if there is no prominent code then I would replace the master cylinder first. If you want to check out why your brakes are locking up, consider YourMechanic, as a certified mechanic can come to your home or office to diagnose and repair this.
