Good evening, i have a 2002 ford explorer 4.0L V6 that is over heating.

I changed the thermostat and water pump as well as checked all of the hoses that to the best of my knowledge pertain to the cooling system. The vehicle didn't over heat as quickly as before however still is. I noticed fluid which the steam from smells like coolant that looks as though it is coming from the engine itself. what should my next step be in repairing this? Any input is greatly appreciated.
